Anze Kopitar will still be the Kings' captain in 2017-18.
In Kopitar's first season as captain he had 12 goals and 52 points in 76 games, down from 74 points in 2015-16. Kings GM Rob Blake suggested that Kopitar's offseason training will play a big roll in a bounce back. "I’ve had a conversation with Kopi the last couple weeks and a lot of it revolves around his off-season training and to look at the top players – the Toews’, the Crosby’s – and see what they’re doing off ice because there has to be an element, when you get to a certain age, to be able to play at a high level, the off-season becomes such an important factor," Blake said. "So I know our strength guys have met with Kopi and he’s got a real good attitude and understanding of what he needs to accomplish to get back to that high level." Kopitar also had to start the 2016-17 campaign early between playing for Slovenia in their efforts to qualify for the 2018 Olympics and then Europe in the World Cup. He won't have to deal with that this time around. Apr 25 - 10:39 AM

Anze Kopitar registered three assists in the Kings' 3-2 overtime win against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Jeff Carter also assisted on all of Los Angeles' goals. For Kopitar, that brings him up to 52 points in 75 games this season while Carter has 66 points in 81 games. Drew Doughty found the back of the net in overtime. Dustin Brown and Tyler Toffoli netted the Kings' other two goals.
Apr 8 - 8:47 PM

Anze Kopitar has been on a scoring tear since the return of Jonathan Quick.

Kopitar has 16 points in 18 games since the netminder returned from a groin injury that cost him 59 games. Kopitar had only 31 points in his first 54 games and the recent streak is closer to his career average than the way he scored at the beginning of the season. Look for Kopitar to get 55-60 points in a good year for the remainder of his career.
Apr 3 - 8:30 AM

Anze Kopitar has been adapting to his new role as the Kings' captain.

"I wouldn’t say a burden. It was definitely a change. It’s definitely some adjustments that I needed to make," Kopitar said. "I’m still learning. I don’t know if you can learn that overnight. It’s been, not a burden, but a new challenge that I think I’m in the process of getting the handle of it and I’ll get there." Kopitar feels that wearing the C hasn't hurt his game, but his production certainly has dropped off this season. He has 11 goals and 46 points in 69 contests after recording 74 points in 2015-16.
Mar 29 - 10:27 AM

Anze Kopitar scored on the power-play and picked up an assist in the Kings' 5-2 win over Winnipeg on Thursday.

Kopitar is hot with six points in his last five games. It has still been a disappointing season for fantasy owners. The Kings' captain has 46 points in 67 games. Drew Doughty, Tyler Toffoli and Jake Muzzin also picked up multi-point nights. Marion Gaborik was credited with the game-winning-goal
Mar 24 - 1:41 AM

Anze Kopitar scored his 10th goal of the season in the Kings loss to Calgary on Sunday.

Kopitar, who has 44 points in 65 games this season, is now on a three game points streak and has eight points in eight games this month.
Mar 20 - 12:57 AM

Anze Kopitar scored in regulation and the lone shootout goal as the Kings defeated the Maple Leafs 3-2.

It was Kopitar's first goal since Jan. 31 and just his 7th of the season. It wasn't pretty either as it went in off the face mask of one of the Leafs players in front of the net on the power-play but he and his fantasy owners will take it. He's had a down year with just 37 points in 57 games. Tanner Pearson scored his 22nd goal for the only other regulation marker for the Kings.
Mar 3 - 2:22 AM

Anze Kopitar is still seraching for his first goal of February.

Though he did pick up a pair of helpers during Saturday's 4-1 win over the Ducks. He has five assists this month, with six goals and 35 points this year.
Feb 25 - 8:07 PM

Anze Kopitar has only one assist in his last six games.

Kopitar has 33 points this season and is in grave danger (is there any other kind) of losing his nine year streak as the Kings leading point getter. He is also a minus-six in the last six contests so all-in-all, the Slovenian has not had a good season.
Feb 20 - 8:15 AM

Anze Kopitar has a five game points streak.

The talented center has only six goals and 32 points in 46 games but he got off to a horrific start and has come around in the New Year. He set up Jeff Carter's overtime winner Saturday and has 16 points in his last 14 games.
Feb 5 - 8:21 AM

Anze Kopitar extended his point streak to four games on Wednesday.

Kopitar recorded an assist in a 5-0 win against Colorado. His six goals and 31 points in 45 contests is below what we'd typically expect from him, but he has been making up a lot of ground lately by scoring 15 points in his last 13 games.
Feb 2 - 11:22 AM

Anze Kopitar amassed 14 points in 12 games during the month of January.

He scored three of his six goals during that span, but that continues to be an issue for the Kings top pivot. "He's on his career assists pace, if you do it – games played and assists. So it's goals. So, again, it's shots. If you look at him trying to get into the middle of the ice and take more quality shots. If he does that, he's going to score. He's hit a lot of posts, things like that. He could easily be in double-figures in goals, and then nobody would be even talking about Kopi." He has two goals and three assists over a three-game point streak, so things are looking up for the two-way star.
Feb 1 - 6:22 PM

Anze Kopitar registered an assist in a 3-0 win over Carolina Thursday night.

Kopitar has picked up a point in three of his last four games. That allows him to go into the All-Star break in something of a high note. He's fallen below expectations overall though with five goals and 27 points in 43 contests this season.
Jan 27 - 10:18 AM

Anze Kopitar scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

Kopitar opened the scoring with a power play goal just 50 seconds into the game. Tanner Pearson added a second goal less than a minute later and Alec Martinez added another one before the end of the opening frame. Kopitar has just two goals in his last 19 games, but he remains a valuable two-way player for his team. He has five goals and 21 assists in 42 games.
Jan 24 - 9:56 PM

Anze Kopitar (illness) feels ready to return Wednesday.

He missed Monday's match against Tampa Bay because of a stomach bug, but he was back on the ice Tuesday morning. Kopitar had a four-game point streak before he was forced out of the lineup.
