Martin Hanzal scored an empty-net goal and delivered an assist to help the Phoenix Coyotes double up 4-2 on the visiting Detroit Red Wings Thursday night.

It was Hanzal's 10th goal of the season. He also recorded his eighth assist of the season on Shane Doan's 12th goal of the season. Michael Stone also recorded a goal (his fourth) and an assist (second) for the Coyotes. Chris Conner completed Phoenix's scoring with his first goal of the season.
Apr 5 - 12:50 AM

Martin Hanzal scored his eight goal of the season while on the power play. The Coyotes lost to Detroit 3-2.

Hanzal has soft hands for a 6'6 tower of a man, but he hasn't been able to develop in to the top six center the Coyotes envisioned when they drafted him 17th overall in 2005. He's a solid two way player but needs to take the body more in order to carve out a roll as a third line center. Since it's Phoenix he gets good ice time but he won't ever likely be a viable fantasy option.
Mar 26 - 2:14 AM

Martin Hanzal reportedly delivered a hit on the Stars' Jamie Benn late in Saturday's game that caused the center the depart with an injury.

Stars coach Glen Gulutzan claimed after the game he thought the hit was delivered late and suggested the NHL should review the play to determine whether disciplinary action should be applied to the Phoenix forward. If you have Hanzal on your roster it would be wise to monitor the news in the coming days as it could affect Hanzal's status in the short-term.
Mar 10 - 10:49 AM

Martin Hanzal had an assist in Phoenix's 6-3 defeat on Thursday.

It was Hanzal's first point since returning from an upper body injury on March 4. He has seven goals and 11 points in 15 games this season, but we don't expect him to maintain that pace.
Mar 8 - 11:03 AM

Martin Hanzal (upper body) was activated from the injured reserve list Monday.

Hanzal played 18:10 minutes in his first game back since Feb. 18 and was minus-one with a team leading eight shots on goal and five hits. Hanzal has been the Coyotes best forward this season when he has been in the lineup and look for more of the same if he is able to stay healthy the rest of the way.
Mar 5 - 2:20 AM

Center Martin Hanzal (upper-body) and winger Radim Vrbata (lower-body) won’t play Saturday for the Phoenix Coyotes and have been placed on injured reserve.

Both skated Friday with Hanzal staying on for a portion of practice in a blue no-contact sweater. The Coyotes called up forwards Chris Brown and Rob Klinkhammer from their American Hockey League affiliate. Defenseman Rusty Klesla, who took a spill in the corner during the third period against the Wild, also skated early before leaving the ice to receive treatment. He’s fine to play Saturday.

Martin Hanzal (upper body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Hanzal is considered "day-to-day," according to coach Dave Tippett, so this is just procedural. He hasn't played since Feb. 18.
Mar 1 - 7:40 PM

As expected, Martin Hanzal (upper body) won't be available to play Thursday.

The towering center hasn't played since Feb. 18 and is considered to be day-to-day. Hanzal did skate Thursday morning though.
Feb 28 - 3:51 PM

It's unlikely that Martin Hanzal (upper body) or Radim Vrbata (lower body) plays Thursday for the Coyotes against the Wild.

Hanzal, who has seven goals and 10 points on the year, has missed the last three games. Vrbata hasn't played in Phoenix's last four tilts. He has four goals and eight assists on the year.
Feb 27 - 7:35 PM

Martin Hanzal (upper body), Derek Morris (upper body) and Radim Vrbata (lower body) will not play Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks.

Hanzal missed Saturday's game, while Vrbata has missed the last two contests. Morris hasn't played since Feb. 14. For fantasy owners, Vrbata is the biggest loss considering his 12 points in 15 games this season and career-high 35 goals last season. Owners in daily leagues will want to make sure all three players are out of their lineups tonight.
Feb 26 - 5:30 PM

Martin Hanzal (upper body) did not skate on Monday.

Hanzal missed Saturday's game with the injury. Hanzal has seven goals and 10 points in 12 games this season, unfortunately he has been injured for six games. Hanzal has been an injury risk for the past three seasons but has shone this season when in the lineup.
Feb 26 - 10:56 AM

Martin Hanzal has been scratched from Saturday's game due to a upper body injury.

Hanzal has seven goals and 10 points in 12 games this season. He has been listed as day-to-day.
Feb 23 - 3:48 PM

A stint in the Czech Extraliga during the recent NHL lockout in which he scored 19 points in 18 games while playing alongside Milan Michalek and Vinny Prospal no doubt helped rekindle Martin Hanzal's offensive instincts.

His seven goals lead the Phoenix Coyotes. "I think I’m doing a better job in front of the goalie, stepping more in front of the goalie, making it hard for him," Hanzal said. "I think a couple times the shot just hit me because I was standing right in front, and the goalie couldn’t see it."
Feb 20 - 11:15 AM

Martin Hanzal scored two goals and registered an assist in Phoenix's 5-3 victory Saturday.

Hanzal managed to get the empty netter as well as the game-winning, power-play marker. David Moss, Radim Vrbata, and Kyle Chipchura each scored a goal Saturday. Keith Yandle registered his sixth, seventh, and eighth assists of 2013.
