Martin Hanzal scored a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-4 OT loss to the Washington Capitals.
Hanzal picked up the primary assist on Jason Pominville's goal at the 2:17 mark of the second period to tie the game at one. He added a goal of his own later on in the frame to cut his team's deficit to 3-2. He now has 16 goals and 35 points in 65 games. The Wild were down 4-2 with less than five minutes remaining in regulation when Jared Spurgeon (4-3) and Eric Staal (4-4) found the back of the net. Eventually though, Capitals forward T.J. Oshie scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Mar 28 - 11:43 PM

Mar 19 - 2:36 AM

Martin Hanzal will return to the Wild's lineup on Saturday against the Rangers.

In seven games with the Wild thus far he has four assists with four PIMs, five blocks, 18 shots and 19 hits. Pretty productive for seeing just 15:55 a night on average.

Mar 13 - 1:05 PM

Martin Hanzal left the Wild to return to Minnesota due to illness on Sunday.

He won't face Chicago on Sunday, and appears unlikely for Tuesday's match with the Capitals in D.C. Through the first seven games of his time with the Wild the deadline acquisition has posted four assists with 18 shots and 19 hits while seeing a touch under 16 minutes per game.
Mar 12 - 12:12 PM

Martin Hanzal has no goals and four assists in seven games with Minnesota.

Minnesota acquired Hanzal from Arizona on Feb. 26. He's been logging an average of 15:57 minutes per contest with the Wild, down from 18:35 in Arizona. He should continue to be a noteworthy, but not major, secondary scorer for the Wild for what's left of the season and into the playoffs.
Mar 11 - 10:22 AM

Martin Hanzal earned his first points with the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.

He collected two assists in a 6-5 win over Winnipeg. Hanzal has nine points in his last 10 outings.
Mar 1 - 10:50 AM

Martin Hanzal will skate on a line with Charlie Coyle and Erik Haula.

Hanzal will be the center on a line that has three of them. The Wild have been forced to shake up their roster because both Jason Pominville and Zach Parise are out with the mumps.
Feb 27 - 7:50 PM

The Arizona Coyotes are retaining half of Martin Hanzal's remaining salary and cap hit.

The Minnesota Wild acquired Hanzal, Ryan White, and a 2017 fourth-round pick from the Coyotes in exchange for a 2017 first rounder, 2018 second-round pick, a conditional 2019 selection, and AHL player Grayson Downing. Getting the Coyotes to retain part of Hanzal's cap hit is what helped make this deal possible for the Wild. Minnesota has significantly bolstered its group of centers with this move as he figures to slot in behind Eric Staal and Mikko Koivu.
Feb 27 - 9:49 AM

Martin Hanzal and Ryan White have been traded to Minnesota for a series of draft picks.

Minnesota will send their 2017 first rounder along with a second round pick in 2018, a conditional in 2019 and AHLer Grayson Downing. The Wild also got a fourth-round choice in 2017 in the deal. Hanzal should slot in nicely behind Eric Staal and Mikko Koivu on the depth chart. He has potted 16 goals and 26 points in 51 games thus far.
Feb 26 - 7:40 PM

Martin Hanzal found the back of the net in a 5-2 loss to Dallas.

Feb 25 - 4:17 AM

Martin Hanzal provided the only Coyotes’ goal of the night in a 4-1 loss to the Sharks Saturday.

Hanzal has five goals in his last five games. He scored twice against the Penguins February 11. That snapped a five-game streak during which he failed to score a single goal and had only one assist and gave him the momentum he currently rides.
Feb 19 - 1:02 AM

Martin Hanzal scored one goal in a 5-2 losing effort to the Oilers Tuesday night.

Hanzal’s goal was important because it momentarily answered a challenge by the Oilers. It came 11 seconds after Matt Hendricks and Leon Draisaitl scored 33 seconds apart at 2:51 and 3:22 in the second period to give Edmonton a 2-1 lead. Hanzal currently has a three-game streak in which he has earned at least one goal.
Feb 15 - 12:05 AM

Martin Hanzal made a triumphant return as he scored twice to lead Arizona to a 4-3 overtime victory over Pittsburgh.

Hanzal missed Thursday's game due to an illness but was back in force on Saturday as he now has 12 goals and 21 points in 44 games. Justas importantly, Hanzal shut down Sidney Crosby as the Penguins star was pointless. "It’s hard," Hanzal said. "He’s probably the best player in the world. I was trying to stay close to him, and I was trying to be in his face pretty much all night. He’s a great player. If you give him room, he’s going to score against you. So I was trying to be hard on him, and it worked." As a pending UFA, Hanzal is a prime trade candidate as Arizona is not close to the playoffs.
