Hanzal will need six-to-seven months to recover from the operation, which might lead to him missing the start of the 2018-19 campaign. Hanzal's back has been bothering him since November. He tried to play through the pain with the aide of injections, but finally it was decided that surgery was needed. It's expected that this surgery will allow him to continue his career. "But it is a major surgery so we’ll wait and see," Stars GM Jim Nill cautioned.
