Martin Hanzal's wife is expecting to deliver a baby on Friday, and may be the reason why Hanzal missing Saturday's game in LA.

Hanzal has 13 points in 24 games this season with 62 hits and 19 PIMs. He's second only to captain Shane Doan in hits on the team.

Martin Hanzal will return Tuesday night after missing time with a lower body injury.

He'll lineup between Rob Klinkhammer and Martin Erat on Arizona's third line. Despite missing seven of the team's first 22 games, Hanzal is still fifth on the team in scoring with 11 points. "When he’s in, your lineup just fits better. We kept him away a couple of extra day purposely to rest, but he skated hard [Monday] and he looked good this morning," Coach Tippett said.

Martin Hanzal had a night for the scrapbook.

Hanzal recorded his second career hat trick on three consecutive shots. His second goal though stirred some controversy as it appeared that his stick may have been over the crossbar during the deflection. However the Situation Room determined that the evidence was "inconclusive" and therefore did not overrule the refs. The Coyotes would go on to win 5-0.

Martin Hanzal is spending more time this season scouting his opposition centers so that he's prepared to face them on the draw.

It's paid off so far as Hanzal ranks third in the league with a 60.6 faceoff winning percentage. That's a big step up from his 54.5% in 2013-14 and his career average of 50.3%. "Marty's really worked hard at that the last couple years," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "He's really dug into that. That's an area we put a lot of onus on."

He has skated the last two days and if there are no setbacks, he anticipates playing against Tampa Bay Tuesday. He has a goal and three points in four games but his biggest problem is staying healthy.
