Martin Hanzal scored twice in the Coyotes' 3-2 win over Los Angeles on Tuesday.
The goals were his first and second of the year for Hanzal. The gritty forward has 13 assists to total 15 points in 13 games, showing some offensive flair early this season. The 28 year-old has six points in his last five games. We don't see this pace continuing though as his best point total as a pro is 40 points in 65 games during the 2013-14 campaign. Brad Richardson scored the other goal. Nov 11 - 2:24 AM

Martin Hanzal recorded two assists in Arizona's 4-2 win over Colorado.

It was Hanzal's first game since returning from a lower-body injury. Even after missing back-to-back contests, Hanzal is still tied for first in assists with 12 in 10 games.
Nov 6 - 10:15 AM

Martin Hanzal (lower body) says he's ready to return to the lineup.

He hasn't played since Oct. 26 due to a lower-body injury, but feels 100 percent now. Look for Hanzal to get back in the fold on Thursday against Colorado.
Nov 4 - 2:42 PM

Martin Hanzal didn't take part of Tuesday's pre-game skate, meaning he won't play against the Bruins.

Hanzal leads the league with 10 assists thus far (no goals, however), so his presence will surely be missed.
Oct 27 - 6:44 PM

Martin Hanzal (lower body) is considered questionable to play Tuesday.

The Coyotes didn't skate in the morning after playing Monday night at Toronto. Hanzal had one assist in just 5:39 of ice time in the match after he suffered a lower-body injury.
Oct 27 - 12:57 PM

Martin Hanzal recorded an assist in the Coyotes' 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers.

Hanzal has only been held off the scoresheet once this season. He now has nine assists in seven games this season. By comparison, his career-high is 40 points.
Oct 23 - 10:10 AM

Martin Hanzal had an assist in Arizona's 3-2 overtime loss to New Jersey.

Hanzal is continuing to benefit from sharing the ice with Anthony Duclair and Max Domi. With that assist, Hanzal is tied for the league lead with eight in six contests.
Oct 21 - 8:24 AM

Martin Hanzal is second in the NHL in assists with seven.

He trails only Ottawa defenseman Erik Karlsson in that category. The oft-injured center has yet to get a goal but certainly has made his mark in the NHL scoring race. Hanzal has a career-high of 40 points and he will crack that barrier if he is able to remain healthy most of the season. Of course, that's a big if.
Oct 18 - 4:54 AM

Martin Hanzal had an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

That extended Hanzal's season opening point streak to four games. He doesn't have a goal yet, but he's tied with Erik Karlsson for the league lead in assists with seven.
Oct 16 - 7:47 AM

Martin Hanzal recorded three assists in Arizona's 4-0 victory against Anaheim on Wednesday.

Hanzal now has six points in three games. So far this season he's gotten playing time with rookies Anthony Duclair and Max Domi, which has played a large part in Hanzal's early success. The Coyotes are likely playing over their head to start the season and thus some of their players will slide once things start to even out. Certainly Hanzal can't keep up his current place, but Duclair and Domi's talent is real, so as long as he's getting minutes with one or both of them, Hanzal is in a position to surpass his career-high of 40 points.
Oct 15 - 9:03 AM

Martin Hanzal had two assists in the Coyotes 4-1 win over Los Angeles Saturday.

Hanzal is an oft-injured player and therefore is much more valuable in a DFS format or daily transactions as you can move him in and out of your lineup. Where he will hurt you with his injuries is in weekly transactions formats as he gets hurt quite often. He starts the season on a line with Tobias Reider and Anthony Duclair although that should be fairly fluid throughout the season as coaches like to switch up lines.
Oct 10 - 5:23 AM

Martin Hanzal says he is fully recovered from back surgery.

Hanzal played in 37 games last season because of a chronic back injury. "I feel great, better than ever," Hanzal said. "For sure I feel really good and really strong, and I'm glad to be on the ice with the boys and trying to enjoy the camp." Hanzal had eight goals and 24 points last season. He’s worth a look in deeper leagues after recording 15 goals and 40 points in 65 games in 2013-14.
Sep 19 - 11:02 PM

Martin Hanzal is on track in his recovery from back surgery.

He hasn't been skating and he won't play again this season, but he's been making progress in his off-ice workouts. Hanzal had 24 points in 37 games this year and he's been sidelined since Jan. 29.
Mar 30 - 3:32 PM

Martin Hanzal (back) won't return to the Coyotes lineup.

The 28-year-old will finish the 2014-15 season with eight goals and 24 points in 37 games this season. The news is disappointing but the Coyotes are so far out of the playoff picture that it's probably better for Hanzal to take his time with this injury.
Mar 1 - 6:29 PM

Coach Dave Tippett says that he thinks that Martin Hanzal (back surgery) will be ready for training camp in September.

There is still a tiny hope that he will be able to return before the end of the regular season but that is unlikely and really not a smart move as the Coyotes are not going to the playoffs. Hanzal has eight goals and 24 points in 37 games. He is a worthwhile addition next season, especially in daily transaction pools where you can take him out of the lineup when he gets one of his numerous injuries.
