Jakub Kindl is finally getting a chance to be a regular defenseman and has three assists and a plus-3 rating in 10 postseason games.

Kindl settled into his role midway through the regular season after spending the past two years as an extra defenseman. With Brad Stuart and Nicklas Lidstrom no longer in Detroit, the Red Wings needed the former first-round pick to step up. Kindl has been huge for us," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "He's found confidence." Kindl credits the new confidence to the lockout, when he played major minutes for a team in the Czech Republic. "Once the season started, I came here and was I ready," Kindl say.

Unfortunately Kindl's efforts weren't enough to save Detroit in Game 1 of their first-round series versus Anaheim. He had four goals, nine assists, and a plus-15 rating in 41 games this season.
May 1 - 10:50 AM

Jakub Kindl had four goals and 13 points this season.

The defenseman came into his own this season as he was a plus-15 for the Red Wings and wasn't as mistake prone as last season. If you like the Red Wings chances in the playoffs and need a defenseman, then Kindl will make a nice pick late in deep pools.
Apr 29 - 8:38 AM

Jakub Kindl scored a power-play goal in a 3-2 shootout defeat Thursday night.

Justin Abdelkader accounted for Detroit's other goal in regulation. Johan Franzen, Brendan Smith, Joe Thornton, and Dan Boyle each recorded an assist for the Red Wings.

Jakub Kindl was a healthy scratch Sunday.

"Kindle moves the puck real good (but he's been) involved in too many plays going the wrong direction," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "He really moves the puck but that has to tighten up. Last game (against Anaheim), we had two critical errors in the back end that led to turnovers. The bottom line is, we make decisions on who will help us win." Kindl admitted to being frustrated, but he probably won't have to wait too long before he gets another shot.
Feb 18 - 10:28 AM

Jakub Kindl got a chance to play on Tuesday.

Kindl the Red Wings' seventh defenseman, so he's expected to spend a decent chunk of the season in the press box. However, Red Wings coach Mike Babcock is interested in using Kindl with the man advantage. If Kindl can find a way to secure regular power-play ice time, then he'll go from being an afterthought to a potential fantasy option.
Jan 30 - 10:14 AM

Jakub Kindl returned to the Detroit Red Wings lineup Friday night after missing three games with a groin injury.

The Wings have some injuries on defense, including Ian White (leg), so for Kindl, a former first-round pick who hasn't earned a regular role, there may never be a better chance to crack the lineup. "You have to grab hold of it," Babcock said. "(Kindl) has been in the organization what, about eight years, since we drafted him. You have to grab hold of it and hang on, or else you're not part of it."

Jakub Kindl is apparently ready to play after missing the first three games of the season due to a groin injury.

Jan 23 - 12:10 PM

Jakub Kindl has been placed on the injured reserve list due to a groin injury.

Kindl didn't participate in Detroit's season opener on Saturday and will obviously be unavailable Monday. He had 11 points and 19 penalty minutes in 27 Czech games during the lockout.
Jan 21 - 2:15 PM

Jakub Kindl has parted ways with Pardubice HC.

Kindl had a goal and 11 points in 27 Czech games. It sounds like insurance problems might have been a factor in his departure. The timing also corresponds to the holidays and a critical juncture of the ongoing lockout. Although there haven't been any CBA negotiations recently, if the two sides don't come to an agreement by mid-January, the 2012-13 season will be lost.

Jakub Kindl has five assists in 16 Czech games.

Kindl is HC Pardubice alongside the Edmonton Oilers' Ales Hemsky and Boston Bruins' David Krejci. Both players have put up much better numbers that Kindl from an offensive perspective. There's no guarantee that Kindl will have a top-six spot with the Detroit Red Wings when the lockout ends.

Jakub Kindl has signed with HC Pardubice in the Czech Republic.

Kindl confirmed the move on Twitter. This isn't Kindl's first stint with Pardubice, but it wasn't his home during the 2004-05 lockout. Kindl wasn't drafted until 2005 and spent the 2004-05 campaign with the OHL Kitchener Rangers.

Jakub Kindl's roster position with Detroit is not secure going into this season.

He is listed as top-six blueliner right now, but that will probably change given the club's interest in adding another defensemen prior to the start of the year. Kindl played in 51 games with the Red Wings last campaign, while posting 13 points, 61 hits and a plus-7 rating. He doesn't use his large frame enough physically, which has been a problem in the past. Kindl's value will remain low as either a bottom-pairing defender or as a reserve player, so he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar anyway.
