Jakub Kindl was back in Detroit's lineup on Sunday against Colorado.
He was a healthy scratch in the Red Wings' last three games and four of the last six. Kindl got a chance to play after Xavier Ouellet was returned to the minors, so that Detroit could call up backup goalie Tom McCollum. Jakub Kindl will draw back into Detroit's lineup on Monday against Ottawa.

He has been a healthy scratch for the past four games and coach Mike Babcock was clear with what he expects. "Just flat-out compete," the Red Wings bench boss said. "Go back, get pucks, make plays, compete. That's all part of being a good teammate, being competitive, being ultra-competitive, being good to help your team win." Kindl will replace Brian Lashoff in the lineup.

Nov 18 - 6:48 PM

Jakub Kindl was a healthy scratch Sunday.

Coach Mike Babcock didn't explain why Kindl saw just 9:13 of ice time in Friday's 4-1 win over Chicago or why he watched Sunday's loss to Montreal from the press box. Brian Lashoff played in Kindl's place.
Nov 17 - 7:14 AM

Jakub Kindl is playing very well on Detroit's second power-play unit.

Kindl didn't get any ice time when the Wings had the man advantage during October but he has played on the power play the last two games and has scored twice and added an assist. Detroit coach Mike Babcock seems to be willing to give Kindl an extended chance to play on the team's PP so long as he produces. "It's good for him," Babcock said. "It's an opportunity for him to grab ice time. We put him back on the power play. It's basically up to him, and if he plays well, you get more, and if you don't, you get less." Kindl could make a nice short-term fantasy pickup. Who knows, he may even have some long-term value.
