Jimmy Howard impressed in his return from a knee injury.

Howard kicked out 24 of 26 Blackhawks shots in his first NHL game since Dec. 20. "Jimmy was good," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "We were better defensively than certainly in Boston and what we were in Edmonton, but obviously they’re a group that can create some and when they did, Jimmy was excellent. He controlled his rebounds well and made his saves look easy. It was a real positive after being out so long." If re-injury isn't a significant concern then it wouldn't be surprising to see the Red Wings lean heavily on Howard for what's left of the season.
