Jimmy Howard hasn't won a game since Dec. 3, but he doesn't believe his confidence is an issue.
"A couple of bounces here and there, and for me, it could be a totally different game," he said. "I'm not going to sit here and make excuses to you guys. Like I've always said, I'm just going to continue to work. I know how fortunate I am and I'm going to remain positive." Howard is looking for some "puck luck" when he gets to play again and that next chance may come on Feb. 15 at the New York Islanders when Detroit plays the second game of a back-to-back situation. Jimmy Howard was rather unimpressive in a rare start for the Red Wings in Thursday night's game against Florida.

The veteran allowed five goals on 32 shots, and it doesn't appear he'll be playing too often with Petr Mrazek outplaying him. Howard's record falls to 7-8-4 this season.
Feb 4 - 10:39 PM

Jimmy Howard will start for Detroit on Thursday.

Howard has only played in one of Detroit's previous seven games, thanks to the rise of Petr Mrazek. Howard has a 2.76 GAA and .908 save percentage in 19 games this season.
Feb 4 - 12:18 PM

Wings coach Jeff Blashill didn't blame goaltender Jimmy Howard for Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Ducks.

Howard stopped 31 of 35 shots in the contest. "Jimmy played good, he got hung out to dry," Blashill said. "He played real good actually. He held us in the game in the first (period), made some big saves in the second. It’s unfortunate for Jimmy, I was hoping he’d get a game his way. By going his way, partially I mean the team in front of him plays real good and we didn’t. We really hung him out to dry." The 31-year-old has seen Petr Mrazek wrestle the number one job away from him. Howard hasn't won a game since Dec. 3. He has no value in standard fantasy leagues.
Jan 24 - 10:26 AM

Jimmy Howard couldn't keep up with the suddenly high flying Ducks in Saturday's 4-3 loss.

Credit Howard for making 31 saves and stopping all 10 shots faced over four Anaheim power plays, but the goals he allowed were soft. He was frozen twice on dekes, and beaten once through a low-percentage opportunity. Now with a record of 7-7-4 with a .908 save percentage and 2.76 GAA, Howard's can no longer be the King of Detroit's crease.
Jan 24 - 1:06 AM

Confirming an earlier report, Jimmy Howard will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Petr Mrazek was in goal yesterday so the Wings will turn to Howard today. Howard has played in just one of Detroit's last 10 games and he hasn't won since Dec. 3. The 31-year-old has a 7-6-4 record with a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage this season.
Jan 23 - 5:23 PM

Jimmy Howard is likely to get the start Saturday night against Anaheim.

Petr Mrazek started and won 3-0 against the Sabres Friday night and Detroit coach Jeff Blashill will likely turn to Howard in the second game of back-to-back contests this weekend. Howard is coming off a 25-save, 4-2 loss to Los Angeles this past Monday. For the season, Howard has a 2.68 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
Jan 23 - 9:35 AM

Jimmy Howard was solid in net on Monday, kicking aside twenty-seven shots in the Detroit Red Wings 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

With the loss, Howard's record drops to 7-6-4 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.68 goals against average. Howard is winless in his past five games played.
Jan 12 - 2:23 AM

Jimmy Howard is expected to start in Monday's game against Los Angeles.

Howard will first warm the bench on Sunday when Detroit takes on Anaheim. The veteran goaltender has allowed at least three goals in each of his last four games. He now has a 2.66 GAA and .910 save percentage in 17 contests.
Jan 10 - 10:17 AM

Coach Jeff Blashill isn't worried about Jimmy Howard's recent struggles.

"You just have to continue to grind," Blashill said. "I'm not worried about Jimmy, he'll be just fine in the long run. But obviously we need to get some wins." Howard called his play "unacceptable" after he was pulled for a second straight game Tuesday night. He hasn't won a game since Dec. 3, which could open the door for Petr Mrazek to string together some starts.

Jimmy Howard lasted just under 32 minutes in a 4-1 loss to the Jets on Tuesday.

Howard gave up four goals on 14 shots before being pulled in favor of Petr Mrazek. Howard has been relegated to 1B behind Mrazek and has his record drops to 7-5-4 with the loss. Mrazek is the goalie to own in Detroit.

Jimmy Howard will be in goal for Tuesday's game at Winnipeg.

Petr Mrazek started Monday's 3-1 loss to Minnesota and Howard was scheduled to play Tuesday regardless of the result. Howard was pulled in his last start and he will look to bounce back against the Jets.

Look for Jimmy Howard to be the likely starter against the Predators Saturday night.

He is looking to redeem himself after being pulled in his last start against the Devils in which he allowed three goals on only six shots.

Jimmy Howard was pulled after allowing three goals on six shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to New Jersey.

Howard was pulled after just 14:17 of play, but his exit gave his team a bit of life as they cut the deficit significantly. He didn't factor into the decision because the Red Wings were able to get three goals back. The 31-year-old has a 2.49 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage.

He has lost his last three outings in overtime or a shootout, including a game versus the Devils on Dec. 11 when he stopped 35 of 38 shots.
