Coach Jeff Blashill said following Sunday's game that Jimmy Howard, who left after he was kneed in the head by Dallas forward Jason Spezza, was fine.

"He wanted to come back (into the game) but it had been too long (out of the game)," Blashill said. The Detroit bench boss said that Howard was dealing with a contact lens issue more than anything. Petr Mrazek finished the contest.
Nov 9 - 10:06 AM

Jimmy Howard took the loss despite only playing 47:06 on Sunday.

Howard took an inadvertent Jason Spezza knee to the head in the third period. He'd leave while trailing 2-1, and since the Red Wings eventually fell 4-1 to Dallas, Howard's record fell to 3-3-1 with just 16 goals against.

Jimmy Howard left Sunday's game against the Stars after taking Jason Spezza's knee to the head.
