Bourque took part in Saturday's game despite the illness. This might not be a setback so much as it was simply an opportunity for him to rest and recover further.

Rene Bourque has healed up nicely from his illness, and will play Saturday against the Canucks.

Bourque is enjoying a nice resurgence this season with seven goals and eight points in 17 games this season. We'd still leave him on the wire, though.

Rene Bourque has fallen ill, and is unlikely to play Saturday against the Canucks.

Bourque has had a nice resurgence through the first 17 games of the season with seven goals and eight points. He posted just nine goals and 23 points split between the Blue Jackets and Ducks over the last two seasons. He is considered day-to-day.

Rene Bourque found the back of the net twice, but it was not enough in a 6-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday night.

The good news is that with seven goals to his credit, Bourque is tied with Matt Duchene at the top of the team leaderboard. However, Bourque has picked up just one assist, so it might be a little too soon to form a bandwagon.
Nov 24 - 1:34 AM

After a scoreless first period, the Colorado Avalanche came out shooting in the second and scored back-to-back goals in the first 1:32 minutes to win a 4-1 contest over the LA Kings Tuesday night.

Patrick Wiercioch scored a wrap-around goal at the 1:10 minute mark; Rene Bourque sunk the game winner 22 seconds later. Wiercioch’s goal was the second of the season while Bourque got his fifth of the year—and notably Wiercioch was credited with his fifth assist of the season on that goal. Blake Comeau and Gabriel Landeskog rounded out the scoring.

Rene Bourque scored two goals in a 3-2 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.

Bourque's second goal was credited to him after Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers put the puck in his own net in overtime. He now has four goals and five points in 11 games this season, but we would stay far away from him in the fantasy world. He is currently playing on the Avalanche's third line with Joe Colborne and Mikhail Grigorenko. Rookie Mikko Rantanen also scored for the Avalanche, the first of his NHL career.
Nov 12 - 2:48 AM

Rene Bourque potted his second goal of 2016-17 in a 4-2 loss to Arizona on Tuesday night.

He redirected a point shot by Erik Johnson just 38 seconds into the second period during a Colorado power play. Bourque has three points in 10 games.

Rene Bourque is set to return from his groin injury on Friday night.

"It was tough," said Bourque, who sat out two games due to the ailment. "I felt like I got off to a good start, playing well. But you have to be careful. It's nice that we had a big break between games, almost a full week. That probably saved me from missing a few more games." Look for him to play with Carl Soderberg and Blake Comeau.

Rene Bourque missed his second consecutive game Saturday with a groin injury.

As the Avalanche don't play again until Friday, there is a very good chance Bourque will be able to suit up at that time.

Oct 10 - 1:33 PM

Rene Bourque has impressed Colorado coach Jared Bednar.

The veteran winger may be playing himself on to the team after signing a professional tryout contract. Of Bourque, Bednar had the following to say: "He looked great. I thought he was really good. He looked like he gobbled up all the loose pucks around him, he was steering the rebounds in the right area. He looked sharp, looked strong down low when they got to the net. A real solid game for him, for sure." Even if he makes the team, Bourque is likely destined for third-line duty so temper any fantasy expectations you may be developping.
Oct 2 - 1:05 PM

Rene Bourque picked up a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 preseason win over the Minnesota Wild.

It might be just a preseason game, but for a guy like Bourque, who's on a PTO, these types of performances are necessary. His power play goal in the second period gave his team a 2-1 lead and his assist on Mikhail Grigorenko's third period goal helped extend the Avalanche's lead to 3-1. Even if Bourque does make the team, his days as a productive NHLer are over.
