Rene Bourque played in his first preseason game of the year on Tuesday.

Bourque's 2014-15 campaign ended on March 21 due to an upper-body injury. He played alongside Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner in the exhibition contest, which is consistent with how the Blue Jackets have been using him since the start of training camp.
Sep 23 - 9:12 AM

Rene Bourque opened training camp on the Blue Jackets' second line with Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner.

Bourque was acquired from Anaheim at the trade deadline last year, but a back injury forced him to miss the end of the season. The 33-year-old has been in a steep decline over the last few seasons, and his lack of consistency make him too risky to touch in fantasy leagues. Expect Bourque to be moved up and down the lineup (and in the press box) throughout the 2015-16 regular season.

Forward Rene Bourque will miss the rest of the season because of a back injury.

That was the word Saturday night from Columbus Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards. Bourque was injured a week ago and had not played since. He was getting hot before the injury with three goals in his previous two games. On the season, Bourque had six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 51 games.

Rene Bourque (upper body) skated on Friday but is still considered questionable for Sunday's game.

Bourque was banged up a week ago and has not played since Saturday. He was getting hot before the injury with three goals in his previous two games but the well-travelled forward could go back to square one as the Blue Jackets have won both games in his absence during a five game winning streak.

Rene Bourque is dealing with an upper-body injury.

Bourque missed Monday's practice, but was originally expected to play on Tuesday anyways. Now the Blue Jackets are calling him day-to-day and expect him to miss their upcoming contest. Look for William Karlsson to be in the lineup instead.
Mar 24 - 12:07 PM

Rene Bourque wasn't on the ice with his teammates during Monday's practice.

Bourque is "banged up" following the Blue Jackets' stint of three road games in four days. He's still likely to play on Tuesday, but we're erring on the side of caution by listing him as day-to-day.
Mar 24 - 11:00 AM

Rene Bourque had what was probably his best game with Columbus as the Blue Jackets came from behind to beat the Calgary Flames 3-2 in OT on Saturday.

Bourque scored two goals (including the game-winner) in this one, giving him three tallies in his last two contests. That represents three of the four points he's scored with Columbus - all goals - in eight games. It's hard to say what his future holds, but playing well during these final few weeks would certainly help matters for the sudden journeyman.
Mar 21 - 7:04 PM

Rene Bourque ignited the Blue Jackets' six-goal run when he put one by Eddie Lack just 3:24 after Daniel Sedin had made it 2-0 Canucks.

Bourque's second goal with the Blue Jackets is surely one that Lack would like back, and one Bourque is all too happy to have on the record. After making it 2-1, his Blue Jackets would tack on five more unanswered goals for the 6-2 win on Thursday night. Bourque now has two goals and points in seven games with Columbus.
Mar 20 - 2:24 AM

Rene Bourque is looking to get a brand new start in Columbus.

Bourque has struggle the last few seasons, especially once he left the Calgary Flames as he had his problems with Montreal coach Michel Therrien and then struggled in Anaheim. "I know I have something left," the 33-year-old Bourque said. "I know I can help this team. I believe in myself. I’m not worried about proving people wrong; I just want to prove to myself and to the Blue Jackets that I still have it, that I can still contribute and help a team win games." Bourque started his first game as a Blue Jacket alongside Artem Anisimov and Brandon Dubinsky as he will need to prove that he is capable of being a top-six forward to have any success at the NHL level.
Mar 8 - 7:47 AM

Rene Bourque will make his Blue Jackets debut on the fourth line on Saturday night against the Avalanche.

Bourque will skate to the left of Mark Letestu and Jared Boll. Of the three, only Boll has fantasy value if your league rewards brutes. Boll has amassed 93 PIMs and 119 hits through 62 games this season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired Rene Bourque, William Karlsson, and a 2015 second-round pick from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for James Wisniweski.

Bourque has two goals and 10 points in 43 games in 2014-15. He cleared waivers earlier Monday, so that should tell you plenty about his trade value. Columbus likely agreed to take him to make this deal work for Anaheim from a cap perspective as Bourque comes with a $3,333,333 annual cap hit through 2015-16.
