He was hit hard against the boards by Kings defenseman Brayden McNabb on Wednesday and left the game. Bourque was playing in just his second match back since his recovery.

After returning only one night previous, Rene Bourque left early in the first period as the Avalanche lost 5-0 to Kings Wednesday.

Bourque returned from a lower-body injury that was sustained January 19 against Anaheim. He came back to face the Ducks again on Tuesday, but did not net a point. Bourque lasted just 23 seconds into the Kings matchup before defenseman Brayden McNabb served him a heavy hit. This hit was the catalyst for John Mitchell and McNabb’s fight, ending with an instigator penalty for Mitchell.

Rene Bourque will return from a lower-body injury on Tuesday against Anaheim.

He sat out three games due to the ailment prior to the break, but he has been cleared to get back in the lineup. Before he got hurt, Bourque contributed just one assist in his last 15 appearances.

Rene Bourque scored one goal and had an assist Tuesday night as the Colorado Avalanche lost a 5-3 contest to the Nashville Predators.

Bourque scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season and picked up his second helper on a marker by Mikko Rantanen.

Bourque took part in Saturday's game despite the illness. This might not be a setback so much as it was simply an opportunity for him to rest and recover further.

Rene Bourque has healed up nicely from his illness, and will play Saturday against the Canucks.

Bourque is enjoying a nice resurgence this season with seven goals and eight points in 17 games this season. We'd still leave him on the wire, though.

Rene Bourque has fallen ill, and is unlikely to play Saturday against the Canucks.

Bourque has had a nice resurgence through the first 17 games of the season with seven goals and eight points. He posted just nine goals and 23 points split between the Blue Jackets and Ducks over the last two seasons. He is considered day-to-day.

Rene Bourque found the back of the net twice, but it was not enough in a 6-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday night.

The good news is that with seven goals to his credit, Bourque is tied with Matt Duchene at the top of the team leaderboard. However, Bourque has picked up just one assist, so it might be a little too soon to form a bandwagon.

After a scoreless first period, the Colorado Avalanche came out shooting in the second and scored back-to-back goals in the first 1:32 minutes to win a 4-1 contest over the LA Kings Tuesday night.

Patrick Wiercioch scored a wrap-around goal at the 1:10 minute mark; Rene Bourque sunk the game winner 22 seconds later. Wiercioch’s goal was the second of the season while Bourque got his fifth of the year—and notably Wiercioch was credited with his fifth assist of the season on that goal. Blake Comeau and Gabriel Landeskog rounded out the scoring.
