Brian McGrattan returned to the Calgary lineup on Friday after missing five games as a healthy scratch.

The fourth liner only saw 8:20 minutes of action, the lowest total on the Flames. His fantasy value lies in his ability to pick up penalty minutes but he did not get into a fight on Friday, which likely disappointed his owners.

After being a healthy scratch on Thursday, Brian McGrattan drew back into the lineup Saturday.

There is a flu bug going through the Calgary dressing room and with Jiri Hudler unable to go, McGrattan got a spot in the lineup. He played 9:03 minutes and had four hits in a 4-1 loss to St. Louis. McGrattan will compile plenty of penalty minutes and hits when he plays so if you are in need of those stats, he'll make a nice waiver wire pick up.

Brian McGrattan scored a goal in Calgary's 3-2 defeat on Wednesday.

McGrattan was playing in his 300th NHL game. The goal was special given that it was just the 10th marker and 26th point of his career. From a fantasy perspective, the 32-year-old enforcer is a reliable source of penalty minutes, but he's doesn't get enough to justify the nearly complete lack of offensive production.

Mar 11 - 4:22 AM

Brian McGrattan potted the only goal for Calgary in its 2-1 loss to the Canucks on Saturday night.

McGrattan's goal was his second of the season, his first since Dec. 12. Of course, scoring is certainly not his forte as evident through his 95 penalty minutes this season and eight career NHL goals in 291 games. Tyler Wotherspoon and Ben Hanowski had the helpers.

Brian McGrattan (upper body) was able to skate before practice on Sunday.

McGrattan was injured during the Flames first practice after the break on Thursday when he was slammed into the boards head first. It's a good sign that he was able to skate as the injury looked serious at the time. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Eventually, the Flames' tough guy skated off under his own power, but the Calgary Sun said it didn't look good. McGrattan didn't practice on Friday. We'll keep you posted.
