Mar 15 - 4:20 PM

Andrej Meszaros made his Boston debut Sunday against Florida.

He scored a power-play goal and registered six shots, while seeing 20:36 of ice time in a 5-2 victory for the Bruins. "It was good to go out there and play. Overall, I felt pretty good and the two points is huge," Meszaros said. He was a healthy scratch for two straight games after he was acquired from Philadelphia, but more performances like this will earn him plenty of action.
Mar 10 - 9:34 AM

Andrej Meszaros participated in his first full Bruins' practice Friday.

That said, there is a good chance he will be a healthy scratch again Saturday against the Lightning as Boston coach Claude Julien seemed very pleased with the six rearguards he dressed for Thursday's 3-0 win over Washington. Corey Potter, who was also recently added to the Bruins' roster, may also sit in the press box. "It's pretty apparent to me now that there is competition back there," Julien said. "We've got to give those guys an opportunity to feel their way into this team. There is an opportunity for us to get to know them and them to get to know us. That's where we are right now". We would keep Mezaros on reserve until he plays in a game.
Mar 8 - 7:06 AM

Andrej Meszaros was a healthy scratch for Thursday's win against Washington.

Boston acquired Meszaros from Philadelphia before the trade deadline and they claimed Corey Potter off waivers Edmonton, but neither of them dressed. The Bruins have won three straight games, so changing their lineup right now isn't a priority.
Mar 7 - 7:33 AM

Andrej Meszaros is looking forward to a fresh start in Boston after being scratched several times and battling through injuries during his tenure with the Philadelphia Flyers this season.

"It was tough with the injuries, but being healthy this year and not playing was really tough," Meszaros said. "Now I feel strong and I feel pretty good. I can skate pretty good and join the rush and obviously have to be good defensively because defense is first, and then the offense will come obviously and hopefully I can help the guys up front and score some goals." Knowing former Ottawa teammates Zdeno Chara and Chris Kelly should help him out in the locker room as well. Meszaros was acquired to add some depth to Boston's back end at the trade deadline.
Mar 6 - 9:38 AM

Andrej Meszaros has been traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a third-round pick.

The Bruins were in the market for a veteran defenseman and they have found one in Meszaros. He has five goals and 17 points in 38 games with the Flyers. Boston wanted to add some depth with Dennis Seidenberg out for the season and Adam McQuaid ailing with a core injury.
Mar 5 - 2:51 PM

The Boston Bruins reportedly have shown interest in acquiring defenseman Andrej Meszaros.

The 6-foot-2, 223-pound Meszaros was teammates with the Bruins' Zdeno Chara on Slovakia's Olympic team. It is believed that Chara is nudging the Bruins to add Meszaros. Asked if he wanted to stay with the Flyers, Meszaros said: "I love Philadelphia, and I love everything here. It's my last year of my contract, obviously, and whatever will happen will happen." Meszaros has played well for the Flyers despite being in and out of the lineup and spending time in coach Craig Berube's doghouse earlier this season. In 36 games, he has five goals and 17 points and is a plus-4. He is a potential unrestricted free agent in July. The NHL's trade deadline is Wednesday afternoon.
Mar 1 - 10:44 AM

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros played in his third Olympic Games for his native Slovakia and loved every minute of it.

"It doesn't matter if it's your first Olympics or the fifth. I think for the players, they should be allowed to play," said Meszaros. "I know there's issues with the injuries, but it can happen over here, too. You can't control that if it happens. I think every athlete should experience the Olympics, whether it's hockey or whatever sport." Another Flyer, Jake Voracek, agrees with Meszaros. "Once every four years, I don't think it's going to hurt to go to the Olympics," said Voracek, who played for the Czech Republic. "For every player in the NHL, I think it's a great experience. To represent your country in the Olympics, it's what every athlete dreams of since he's growing up." Ed Snider, chairman of the Flyers' parent company, strongly opposes NHL players' competing in the Olympics.
Feb 22 - 10:37 AM

Andrej Meszaros had an assist on Saturday and is now off to his third Olympic Games for his native Slovakia.

Meszaros has been a healthy scratch on 23 occasions this season but his play of late has impressed coach Craig Berube who had negative things to say about his defensive play a few weeks ago. "I think he's improved throughout the year," said coach Craig Berube, who had been critical of Meszaros' defensive play a few weeks ago. ". . . He's been a good pro about being in and out of the lineup, and so has [Erik] Gustafsson. That's just the way it is right now, and it'll work itself out eventually." He has 16 points in 34 games this season.
Feb 9 - 8:01 AM

Andrej Meszaros played on Saturday when Kimmo Timonen was unable to go.

Meszaros has missed 23 games this season as a healthy scratch. When he has played, he has had fantasy value with four goals and 15 points in 33 games but he doesn't play enough this season to warrant putting him into your fantasy lineup.
Feb 2 - 8:39 AM

Andrej Meszaros recorded two goals in the Flyers' 6-4 win over the Islanders on Saturday night.

If you like goal scoring, this game was for you. Meszaros is also on a roll, with three goals and nine points over his last six games. He's worth plugging in for now, but realize he's never displayed this kind of point-producing prowess before in his career. His last two-goal game in the NHL came on April 9, 2011, and he now has 14 points on the season. Adam Hall, Jakub Voracek, who also had an assist, Michael Raffl and Matt Read potted the other goals. Mark Streit and Claude Giroux recorded two helpers apiece.
