The Colorado Avalanche have released Andrej Meszaros from his professional tryout agreement.

Meszaros played for the Buffalo Sabres last season, scoring seven goals and 14 points in 60 games. We wouldn't rule out the possibility of him finding work elsewhere, but this summer and now fall haven't been kind to veteran players that tested the free agent market. If he does get picked up though, we wouldn't count on him having much fantasy value in standard leagues despite the fact that he certainly was worth owning earlier in his career.

Andrej Meszaros (groin) probably won't be sticking with the Avalanche.

He appeared to be in pain when he left the ice Tuesday. Meszaros hasn't suited up in a preseason game or a scrimmage yet. He accepted a professional tryout with Colorado, but has been visibly laboring since camp began.

Andrej Meszaros didn't participate in practice on Sunday because of a leg injury.

Meszaros is attending Colorado's camp on a pro tryout. His chances of making the team were already slim and an injury will certainly not help his cause. Even if he does somehow make the team, he will not be a fantasy contributor this season. He is day-to-day at this point.

Andrej Meszaros is unlikely to earn himself a contract from the Avalanche.

Meszaros is in camp on a professional tryout and The Denver Post’s Mike Chambers says he will "NOT" earn a contract. He does not seem in shape. "He may have been dinged up, but his continuous last-place, coasting-to-the-finish effort in the veterans bag skate was an poor display of a guy trying to make an impression," Chambers wrote.

Colorado hasn't announced its training camp roster yet, but it appears as though Andrej Meszaros will take part on a professional tryout.

Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reported that Meszaros will likely be there under those circumstances after he played in 60 games with Buffalo last season. He posted 14 points and 94 blocks in 2014-15.
Sep 15 - 2:23 PM

UFA defenseman Andrej Meszaros is still without a contract for the 2015 season.

The veteran played 60 games with the Sabres last season, managing to contribute 14 points with a -13 rating. He has played for five NHL teams since 2005.
Aug 16 - 11:50 AM

Andrej Meszaros collected two goals for the second straight game in Monday's 4-1 win over Arizona.

Meszaros simply blasted two pucks past Mike Smith in the second period, the first on the power play. He also contributed three hits and two blocks during his 20:53 of work. Meszaros now has seven goals and 13 points this season.
Mar 31 - 3:21 AM

The Buffalo Sabres outshot the Colorado Avalanche 38-22 during Saturday's loss.

The Sabres are 0-4-1 in their last five games but the 38 shots on goal were actually a season-high for Buffalo. It is just the seventh time in 75 games this season that they have managed to outshoot their opponent. Andrej Meszaros had four shots in the game and scored two goals.
Mar 29 - 12:25 PM

Andrej Meszaros potted two goals in the Sabres’ 5-3 loss to the Avalanche on Saturday night.

Don’t expect this too often. In fact, the defenseman has only five goals on the year, with his last one coming Feb. 28. He has 11 points. Rasmus Ristolainen had a goal and an assist, to give him points in back-to-back games.
Mar 28 - 11:50 PM

Andrej Meszaros returned to action on Friday from a hand injury.

He played 20:36 of ice time after missing two games. Meszaros has nine points, 59 hits and 80 blocks in 49 games this campaign.
Mar 21 - 1:50 AM

Andrej Meszaros will miss Monday's game versus Washington with a hand injury.

He was originally hurt when he gloved down a puck on Mar. 7 against the Capitals. Meszaros left that contest, but he played in Buffalo's last two outings before suffering a setback. Coach Ted Nolan said that the hand injury could keep Meszaros on the shelf for the next few games.
Mar 16 - 3:00 PM

Andrej Meszaros (head) will suit up for Wednesday’s game in Toronto.

Meszaros took a puck to the head in Saturday’s game with the Capitals and was unable to practice Monday, but was able to practice Wednesday morning and will play versus Toronto. It’s been a rough year for the veteran defenseman as he’s recorded just three goals and six assists with a minus eight rating in 46 games played.
Mar 11 - 6:46 PM

Andrej Meszaros (head) will be a game-time decision Wednesday against Toronto.

He alternated with Nikita Zadorov and Tyson Strachan during the morning skate. Meszaros was hit in the side of the head by a puck on Saturday, but he appears healthy enough to play if coach Ted Nolan chooses to play him.
Mar 11 - 3:51 PM
