Guillaume Latendresse wasn't sure if he was in Ottawa's plans and now he knows that he will be permitted to test the market as an unrestricted free agent.
"It seems official now. Thanks to the fans, management, owner of the Sens. An A1 class organization," he tweeted on Wednesday in a bit of a farewell announcement. He missed 21 games this past season, while sitting due to injury and as a healthy scratch. Latendresse had six goals and 10 points in the 27 contests he did play. May 29 - 5:15 PM

Guillaume Latendresse isn't sure if he'll be back in Ottawa next season.

"It didn't work the way we wanted (this season), but that's the game," he said. "That's the NHL. It's not an easy league and I have to be better, I have to do things better. You never want to close any doors. We'll see. For sure I think I can bring something to an NHL team. I think I can be a player who is in the lineup every night." He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July after an unsuccessful stint with the Senators. In 27 games this past season, he contributed six goals and 10 points. Latendresse also had two points in three playoff appearances.

The Sens have been calling his injury "recurring whiplash effects," which often is code for a concussion. Migraine headaches can also manifest as part of post-concussion symptoms, but we'll take Latendresse at his word for now. Regardless, it doesn't appear that he is any closer to returning.
