Winkler, Manitoba product Dustin Penner may be an option for the Winnipeg Jets.

It's believed the Jets would like bring in a top-nine forward to replace fellow free agent Devin Setoguchi, who struggled mightily during his only season in Winnipeg. Penner is still on the market after posting 14 goals and 21 assists in 67 games between Anaheim and Washington.

Apr 9 - 2:42 AM

Dustin Penner is dealing with an upper-body injury.

Penner is out Saturday as a result. He's listed as day-to-day, but given that there's just a week left before the regular season's over, it's entirely possible that he won't return in 2013-14.
Apr 5 - 4:35 PM

Dustin Penner was shocked by the Anaheim Ducks decision to trade him to the Washington Capitals.

Penner was told that he was traded to free up cap room. This was Penner's second stint with the Anaheim Ducks and he had spent time serving on the team's top line. "Especially considering the position we were in as a team," Penner said. "I think it's an eye-opener for a lot of guys in that locker room. And for fans, too, because they always … in some cases they gripe about loyalty (from) players. For players it's often not reciprocated."
Mar 18 - 9:41 AM

Dustin Penner picked up his first point with the Washington Capitals on Sunday.

He earned an assist on Joel Ward's power-play goal in the first period of the Capitals' 4-2 win over Toronto. Pennner didn't have a point in his previous six games following his acquisition from Anaheim and he logged just 10:56 of ice time against the Leafs.
Mar 17 - 10:39 AM

Dustin Penner was bumped to the fourth line at Saturday's practice.

In six games with the Capitals, he hasn't earned a point and has a minus-1 rating with nine shots. Penner may need more time to adjust to his new team, but points are valuable this time of the year in fantasy hockey so it might be safe to drop him if you haven't already done so.
Mar 15 - 2:26 PM

The Washington Capitals sent a fourth round pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Dustin Penner.

It's surprising that Anaheim would give up Penner for nothing more than a fourth rounder given that he's been decent this season and the Ducks are gearing up for a playoff run. That being said, this might be a small part of Anaheim's larger plans. We're likely to see a lot more trades before the deadline.
Mar 4 - 2:08 PM

The Washington Capitals have acquired Dustin Penner.

We're still waiting to find out what Anaheim will get in return. Penner has had a solid season with Anaheim, scoring 15 goals and 32 points in 49 games. If he ends up getting some playing time with Alex Ovechkin, either on the Capitals' top line or with the man advantage, then he should have a strong finish to the 2013-14 campaign.
Mar 4 - 1:57 PM

Dustin Penner had an assist in Anaheim's 4-2 defeat on Monday.

Penner got off to a really hot start this season, but he's slowed down considerably. He has just four goals and eight points in his last 23 games. If you picked him up in October or November, it's time to start examining your other options.
Feb 4 - 6:27 AM

Dustin Penner scored a goal in Anaheim's 4-2 loss to Minnesota Tuesday evening.

Jan 29 - 3:40 AM

Dustin Penner had a goal in Anaheim's 2-1 win over Los Angeles Thursday night at Honda Center.

It was Penner's second goal in his last 13 outings and he now has 12 goals and 15 assists in 41 games this season. He had an amazing start to the season but he has been slumping lately. Patrick Maroon scored the other goal for the Ducks in the victory.
Jan 24 - 3:24 AM

Dustin Penner scored once and added an assist for the Ducks on Saturday.

It was Penner's 11th goal of the season and his first since December 15. Penner got off to an amazing start but had been slumping of late and was a healthy scratch at times in the last month. He has 26 points this season and his plus-18 rating is still good for 16th best in the NHL.
Jan 12 - 4:18 AM

Dustin Penner was back in the Anaheim lineup after being a healthy scratch Tuesday.

Penner did not go back to the top line but played alongside Teemu Selanne and Mathieu Perreault and was minus-one in 14:18 minutes but did see 5:08 minutes of power play time. He has 10 goals and 24 points with a plus-17 rating in 34 games. "Other than maybe a handful of guys, you have a chance of not playing each and every night," Penner said. "That's a slight but not to the extent of what it would be on other teams. If you're on a last-place team and you're being sat out, that would hurt exponentially more. Even when guys get sat out (here), they want to play."
Jan 4 - 3:50 AM

Dustin Penner was a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

It was the second time in 10 days that Penner was a healthy scratch as coach Bruce Boudreau was not pleased with his effort on Sunday. Penner is having a fine fantasy season with 10 goals, 24 points and a plus-18 rating in 33 games but his lack of playing time of late is a major cause of concern.
