George Parros has joined the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

"It's an interesting opportunity to not only watch a lot of hockey and remain in the sport, but kind of affect what's going on in the sport in a way that things move forward," Parros said "You're trying educate the players, and the thing that best suits me for the job is that I've played the game for a long time and played as physical as anybody else, perhaps more so, and never once got fined or suspended. I feel that if anybody out there knows how to walk the line, it's me." The former enforcer retired from the NHL in Dec. 2014.

George Parros has announced his retirement from the NHL.

Parros had 36 points and 1,092 penalty minutes in 474 games with the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, Anaheim Ducks, Florida Panthers, and Montreal Canadiens. He won the Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2007. "It's been an honor to play in the greatest league in the world. Thanks to the organizations I've had the good fortune to play for, especially to the Samueli and Molson families," said George Parros. "I've had the most amazing support from all of the fans who have supported my many endeavors throughout my career, for that I am eternally grateful. A final thank you to my parents Jim and Lynne, my wife Tiffany and my children who have made this dream of mine a reality."

George Parros won't be back with the Montreal Canadiens next season, according to Richard Labbe of La Presse.

The tough guy won't be offered a contract by the Canadiens, so he will be free to test the market as an unrestricted free agent. Parros suited up in 27 games with Montreal this campaign, but he didn't dress in the playoffs.

George Parros will likely play Saturday night against the Panthers.

He is a frequent healhty scratch but could play if Tomas Plekanec does not return from tending to a family matter in Montreal in time to play in Miami. If you need some PIMs you could start Parros against the Panthers.

George Parros will be a healthy scratch against Carolina Saturday night.

He will sit in the press box so that Francis Bouilion can dress as the Habs' seventh defenseman. If you were counting on Parros for PIMs Saturday, make some other arrangements.

George Parros logged a season-high 7:01 of ice time in Tuesday's win over Carolina.

He was back in the lineup that night after a three-game absence. In 14 games this season, Parros has no points and 42 penalty minutes. He has suffered a pair of concussions which could limit his willingness to engage in fisticuffs. If he isn't picking up penalty minutes then he shouldn't be on your fantasy roster.

George Parros (concussion) will be back in Montreal's lineup Saturday night.

He will dress against the Chicago Blackhawks and Francis Bouillon will head to the press box. Parros has been out of action since Dec. 16 because of his second concussion of the 2013-14 campaign.

George Parros (concussion) was cleared for contact on Tuesday, but he was scratched for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia.

He took part in the pregame warmup but the Canadiens chose to dress seven defensemen instead. Parros looks like he won't have to wait much longer to get back into the lineup.

George Parros (concussion) hasn't been cleared for contact yet, but he thinks that will come soon.

He visited with a concussion specialist at the University of Michigan recently and he has been skating with his teammates. "I've been feeling pretty good, actually. There are rumours out there that I've been oversymptomatic (but) I've felt pretty good," said Parros. "I'm going through all the steps that we feel are necessary to make sure we're making the right decision." He hasn't played since Dec. 14 because of his second concussion this season and he's appeared in just nine total games this year.

George Parros (concussion) skated for the first time on Wednesday since he was injured last Saturday.

"Like I said (Tuesday), he's feeling really good," coach Michel Therrien said. "So that's a good sign." Parros isn't traveling with the team and it's unclear when he'll be available to return to the lineup.

George Parros (head) left Saturday's game for precautionary reasons.

Parros dropped the gloves with Islanders forward Eric Boulton 2:01 into the game and was clearly dazed by some punches. He went to the box to serve his penalty, but was told to leave by the referees for the quiet room to determine if he had a concussion. He never returned, but Habs coach Michel Therrien says that Parros is doing well, though it's unclear whether he did sustain a concussion, which would be his second of the season.

George Parros has been a healthy scratch for the past five games.

"It's happened before (in my career). You're never happy when it does," Parros said after skating Wednesday in the team's optional session. "But I'm still happy to be a member of this team and just waiting for my opportunity to come and help out whenever I can." He can be a great source of penalty minutes when he plays, but sitting in the press box means fantasy owners may want to seek more stable options.

Coach Michel Therrien said that George Parros will be back in the lineup Friday night.

The Canadiens tough guy had been out of action since the season opener because of a concussion. His only value to fantasy hockey is in his penalty minutes.
