Do not expect to see Petr Prucha in a Phoenix uniform for a while.

Prucha passed through waivers on Friday and was sent down to San Antonio of the AHL the same day. He will get lots of ice time there but a return to Phoenix is not imminent. "The way we're set up, structured, he's probably not going to play for a while," GM Don Maloney said. "We don't like players sitting out not playing. We think Petr, to go down to San Antonio and play, we're gaining a little of his offensive touch. There's no question of his drive, work ethic - it's the same every practice - and every game and . . . we have some players in San Antonio that are playing very well." Prucha has not had a good season in the NHL since his sophomore campaign with the Rangers as he had 22 goals and 40 points after a 30 goal effort in his rookie season. He has no fantasy value.

Peter Prucha replaced Wojtek Wolski in the Phoenix lineup for the second straight game on Saturday.

Coach Dave Tippett was pleased with Prucha's effort on Saturday as he 'played a heck of a game' according to the coach. Prucha has only one assist in six games for Phoenix so he is unlikely to remain in Wolski's spot. Prucha has no fantasy value at this time.

Petr Prucha scored in the second period to lead Phoenix to a 3-1 win over Dinamo Riga Wednesday afternoon.

Prucha, who played with Martin Hanzal and Radim Vrbata, scored on a nice one-timer. He seemed to be clicking well with his linemates in this game. Taylor Pyatt scored late in the first period. Ilya Bryzgalov played well but made way for Jason LaBarbera at the start of the second. This game was the last of the NHL’s preseason schedule. Thursday will mark opening day.

Petr Prucha is being listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury after falling head first into the boards following a hit from Dallas forward James Neal on Saturday.

He left the ice on a stretcher after laying motionless on the ice for roughly seven minutes. Prucha was taken to the hospital, but he has been evaluated and released. Coach Dave Tippett was furious following the game as there was not even a penalty called on the play. "The league, all I've heard for months is how we're bearing down on head shots," Tippett said. "Well, that's a clear head shot ... It's a hit to the head, and you have a guy that's basically knocked out cold. Again, it just baffles me. When you have referees looking right at it, and they tell you that's not a bad hit, and you've got a guy laying on the ice unconscious. That just baffles me."

Petr Prucha is having trouble cashing in on his chances around the net.

While Prucha has tied last season's six goal effort, he is getting a lot more chances in Phoenix than he did in New York with the Rangers, before he was dealt at the trade deadline to Phoenix. "I'm playing like all the games, so I'm not fighting for my spot in the lineup any more," Prucha said. "So I can play with more confidence. That feels much better than last year, definitely." Prucha should start scoring soon, so he could be a nice sleeper in very deep leagues in the second half of the season.
