Josh Gorges (upper body) will play in Wednesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Gorges was a member of the Canadiens from 2007-2014. The 31-year-old has been sidelined for five of Buffalo's last six games. He has one goal, seven points and a minus-4 rating in 45 games this season. He has no fantasy value going forward.

Jan 25 - 3:49 PM

Josh Gorges returned to practice on Sunday morning.

Gorges was seen skating with Carlo Colaiacovo, the oft-scratched defender. So how close Gorges is to returning is murky at best, for now. Though it's worth noting the Sabres play the Rangers on Monday.

Jan 16 - 6:42 PM

Josh Gorges missed Sunday's practice as he was sent home with the flu.

"He had the flu," Bylsma said of Gorges. "He was coming down with the flu yesterday, made it through the game yesterday and just under the weather. Didn’t want him around the guys." Which begs the question why he played Saturday against Chicago at all. In any event, the Sabres don't play again until next Saturday, Dec. 26th. Through 34 games thus far the rugged defender has six points, 40 PIMs, 63 hits, and 68 blocks.

Josh Gorges is quietly having a solid season.

Gorges has seen significant improvements this season in terms of Corsi. He also has a minus-two rating, which is a big change from his 2014-15 campaign when he was minus-28 in 46 contests. "I feel good coming off all the different situations last year, taking the summer to come in with a fresh mindset," Gorges said. "I feel healthy and that’s a good thing. Being around these guys with their energy and excitement has been a lot of fun so far. We’ve got a long ways to go but it’s been fun." It's all good news for Buffalo, but it doesn't change much for standard league fantasy owners. Gorges just doesn't do enough offensively to be relevant in those circles.

Josh Gorges will not be punished by the NHL for his hit on Flyers' Matt Read Friday night.

There was some thought that the NHL might suspend or fine Gorges, but that is not the case. If for some reason Gorges is on your fantasy roster, you do not have to replace him at this time.
