"I think so, but then again I thought I was playing the last two," Gorges said. "We'll re-evaluate it, wait to hear what the trainers and doctors have to say, but I don't think there's any reason I wouldn't be in the lineup." He has sat out the last two games with a finger injury, but participated fully in Thursday's practice.

Tyson Strachan will fill in for Josh Gorges as he will indeed miss Tuesday's game against the Jets with an undisclosed injury.

Sabres' head coach Ted Nolan said it doesn't look good for Gorges. The 30-year-old already missed seven games with a knee injury earlier this season. The injuries just keep mounting on Buffalo's blue line. Gorges will be reevaluated at some point in the near future.

"I have to be smart, and if I do come back and play, first of all I don't want to put my team in jeopardy," Gorges said. "If I'm not effective, I'm only hurting my team. At the same time I have to make sure I don't go too early where I'm out for another two or three weeks again, which is counterproductive. As much as I want to be back, we've got to be smart at the same time." Gorges is itching to play and he would like to be ready to go by Saturday's game in Montreal.
