Josh Gorges (lower-body) will have season-ending surgery.
Head coach Ted Nolan confirmed the news on Sunday morning. Gorges' first season in Buffalo has been a nightmare. The 30-year-old has played in only 46 games and he has no goals and six assists in 2014-15. He was never known as a point-producer, but he has an ugly minus-28 rating. The club has officially placed Gorges on injured reserve. Feb 22 - 12:31 PM

Date:

Josh Gorges' season may already be over.

"It’s leaning that way, but we’ll see in the next little bit here," Coach Nolan said on Friday afternoon. "He’s getting final information. He’ll make a final decision in probably 24 to 48 hours." Gorges has been out since Feb. 10th with a lower body injury, unsurprising given that he's once again among the league-leaders in blocked shots, 148 in 46 games. If true, this will be his first injury-shortened season since 2010-11 when he played just 36 games.

Josh Gorges (lower body) didn't travel with the Sabres for Tuesday's game at New Jersey.

It doesn't sound like he'll be ready to play Thursday in Philadelphia either. "Still no word," coach Ted Nolan said. "He's still getting evaluated, I guess. So we'll wait to hear back from that." There's a chance that it could be a season-ending injury.
Feb 18 - 10:13 AM

Josh Gorges missed Sunday's game with a lower-body injury.

He has missed the last two practices with "maintenance days," and the ailment was described as something that had been lingering. Gorges should be considered day-to-day.
Feb 16 - 8:43 AM

It doesn't look like Josh Gorges (undisclosed) will play in Sunday's game against Philadelphia.

Gorges didn't participate in Sunday's morning skate and it's entirely possible that he will miss an extended period of time because of the injury.
Feb 15 - 11:33 AM

Josh Gorges is questionable for Sunday's game against the Flyers.

Gorges didn't practice with the team on Saturday and it's unclear if this was just another maintenance day or if he will miss time. The 30-year-old has never been a point-producer, but his minus-28 rating suggest that he is also struggling defensively. Even if Gorges does play, he won't have any upside in standard fantasy leagues.
Feb 15 - 9:17 AM

Josh Gorges is troubled by Buffalo's 14-game losing streak.

"I'm trying to find answers on how I can be better and how I can help this team better," Gorges said. "When you go through a stretch like this, it's difficult. We're in the business of winning, and when you're not doing it you feel like you're not doing your job." His minus-27 rating ties him with teammate Rasmus Ristolainen for the worst in the league. Gorges leads the Sabres with 134 blocks in 41 games and he's chipped in six assists. He'll be making his return to Montreal on Tuesday night for the first time since being traded to Buffalo.
Feb 3 - 8:52 AM

Josh Gorges was tied for a team low minus-three in a 7-0 blowout loss to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.

Gorges is minus-25 so far this season in what has been a tough go for the Sabres. He has no goals and six assists through 36 games so far with Buffalo this year.
Jan 15 - 10:53 PM

Josh Gorges wasn't pleased with his team's effort in their 6-1 loss to the Rangers on Saturday night.

"This game is hard enough to win on a good day," alternate captain Josh Gorges said. "You come into games not mentally focused or not quite in the right position, making turnovers in the neutral zone too many times, you just kill yourself. We can’t make excuses. We have to find reasons and find results. Whatever the situation that’s facing us, we have to be better." The Sabres are 1-7-1 in their last nine games, and their only win came in the shootout.
Jan 4 - 1:29 PM

Look for Josh Gorges to return to action Saturday night against Colorado.

He has missed the Sabres' last two games with a finger injury but has been practising with his teammates and looks good to go. If you need Gorges, get ready to activate him.

Josh Gorges (finger) should be available for Saturday's game versus Colorado.

"I think so, but then again I thought I was playing the last two," Gorges said. "We'll re-evaluate it, wait to hear what the trainers and doctors have to say, but I don't think there's any reason I wouldn't be in the lineup." He has sat out the last two games with a finger injury, but participated fully in Thursday's practice.

Tyson Strachan will fill in for Josh Gorges as he will indeed miss Tuesday's game against the Jets with an undisclosed injury.

It's believed to be a hand injury, but no certain details are known just yet. We'll keep you posted. Strachan has no fantasy value.

Josh Gorges (undisclosed) is regarded as a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Gorges wasn't available on Monday due to the ailment. If he can't play then Tyson Strachan will probably be in the lineup for a second straight contest.
Tue, Dec 16, 2014 03:59:00 PM

Josh Gorges is out of the lineup Monday versus the Senators.

Like his fellow blue-liner, Andrew Meszaros, Gorges was forced to leave Saturday’s game early after a blocking a shot and is not good enough to suit up Monday night. The veteran defensemen has no goals and four assists in 23 games this season. Tyson Strachan suits up in place of Gorges on defense.
Mon, Dec 15, 2014 07:24:00 PM

Josh Gorges (undisclosed) left Saturday's game against Florida after blocking a shot.

Sabres' head coach Ted Nolan said it doesn't look good for Gorges. The 30-year-old already missed seven games with a knee injury earlier this season. The injuries just keep mounting on Buffalo's blue line. Gorges will be reevaluated at some point in the near future.
