Josh Gorges says he still hasn't heard any reason why the Montreal Canadiens traded him recently.
"I wish I had a really good answer — where this came from and why, and how it came about — but I don’t, to be honest," Gorges said weeks after being deal to the Buffalo Sabres. "It was a shock to me." Gorges, 29, says he was "deeply disappointed" and hat he "never wanted to leave Montreal," adding "in no way has this been my decision." Jul 26 - 9:06 AM

Josh Gorges was surprised to find out that Montreal wants to trade him.

Gorges has a modified no-trade clause and he reportedly used it to veto a potential deal to Toronto. Although he didn't confirm that specifically, he did confirm that the Canadiens called him to ask him to waive his no-trade clause and clearly he didn't do that. He has, however, added "a couple" Canadian teams to his list of teams he's willing to go to. Previously the list include 15 American-based clubs.

However, Gorges would have to waive his modified no-trade clause to accept a trade to the Leafs. If he does then it's believed that a roster player from the Leafs would go back to the Canadiens in return, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
