Jeff Woywitka has been placed on waivers by St. Louis.

The Blues had to move around some players to make room for Wade Redden on their roster and Woywitka was one of them. Woywitka has not dressed yet in 2013, so if he clears then there's a good chance that he will be sent down to the minors.

Jeff Woywitka has inked a one year, two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues.

He had a goal and five assists in 27 games with the New York Rangers in 2011-12. Woywitka will compete for a spot in training camp, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he starts the season in the minors.

He has sat out the last 13 games and 17 of the last 19 after suffering a bone bruise on the inside of his left foot. Woywitka said he was ready to play prior to the All-Star break, but he remained on the Rangers' injured reserve list until this demotion.

Jeff Woywitka will be making his debut with the New York Rangers on Saturday.

Woywitka will be paired with Steve Eminger. The two played briefly together in the 2003 World Juniors team. On playing in New York, Woywitka said: "Obviously, there are nerves. It's a new coaching staff, new people getting first impression." He gets to play in the cross-town rivalry against the Islanders on Saturday.

Woywitka has spent two games in the press box, but he'll help fill the void left by blueliners Mike Sauer (shoulder) and Marc Staal (concussion). Woywitka isn't expected to have any fantasy value.
