Mike Green will be back in the lineup for Washington Thursday night.

He has been out of action since Nov. 22 due to an upper-body injury. Green is expected to be eased back into the lineup against Columbus. He has three goals and nine assists in 19 games this campaign.

Mike Green continued his hot streak, scoring his third goal of the season in the Capitals 3-2 loss to Edmonton on Wednesday.

After being held pointless for the first time all season by Florida, Green got right back on the horse with his third goal of the season against the Oilers. Green also had four shots on goal and logged nearly 20 minutes of ice time in the loss. Fantasy owners looking for a bounce back campaign from Green have to be pretty impressed so far with three goals and three assists in five games. John Carlson scored the other goal giving the Capitals strong offense from the back-end.

Mike Green continued his hot start to the season with two assists in Washington's 6-2 win over New Jersey on Thursday night.

Green now has two goals and five points in three games during the first week of the season. The up-and-down blueliner who had 76 points in 75 games in 2009-10 only had 57 points in 114 games in the following three seasons. Green rebounded with 38 points in 70 games last season, and early on in 2014-15, looks like he might have a shot at rediscovering his elite scoring touch.

It appears that Mike Green is over his upper-body injury and will play for the Washington Capitals against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

He missed the first Capitals game and is a constant injury worry, yet still carries dangerous scoring potential, especially with the motivation of a contract year driving him. It will be interesting to see how the Capitals utilize him with the addition of Matt Niskanen.
