Mike Green found the back of the net in Detroit's 3-2 win over the Kings Friday night.
It was Green's first goal with the Red Wings. He now has seven points in 14 contests this season. As far as his point-per-game pace goes, that's certainly a good one for a defenseman, but he's capable of even better. "I think we’re just at the tip of the iceberg for him," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "I think he’s going to continue to get better and better as he gets more and more comfortable." Mike Green registered a pair of assists in Monday's 4-3 overtime win against Ottawa.

He got the secondary helper on goals by Gustav Nyquist and Riley Sheahan. Green has a respectable six assists in 12 games this season, but he also has no goals and a minus-7 rating which works against his fantasy value.
Nov 17 - 9:43 AM

Mike Green collected the 250th career assist in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Dallas.

Green also contributed a minor penalty, three shots and three hits. He's off to a good start through eight games with three points. However it's clear he'll never regain the form that allowed him to score 76 points in 2009-10. Green now has 250 assists and 363 points in 583 career games.
Nov 8 - 7:50 PM

Mike Green is excited to get back into Detroit's lineup on Sunday.

The 30-year-old has missed six straight games because of an upper-body injury, but he will play against Dallas. "It's been two weeks but it's felt like a month," said Green. "I can't wait to get back out there." He has two assists in seven games this season. Now that he's healthy, he should be able to produce quite a bit more offense as the season goes on.
Nov 8 - 10:55 AM

Mike Green remains on target to return to action Sunday afternoon against Dallas.

Green has missed seven consecutive games due to an upper-body injury (believed to be related to his shoulder). He participated in a full practice on Thursday and is hoping to do the same on Saturday. If Green gets through Saturday's scrimmage without any setbacks, he will be a player Sunday against the Stars.
Nov 7 - 10:24 AM

Mike Green (upper body injury) will miss his seventh straight game on Friday against the Hurricanes.

Green has put up just two helpers with nine hits and 11 blocks in seven games so far this season, suggesting he's little more than a depth defender at this time even when rocking and healthy.
Nov 6 - 6:06 PM

Mike Green (upper body) practiced fully on Thursday.

"First full day of practicing with the guys, it was a good way to judge," Green said. "You can gauge where you are from a strength standpoint, battling in the corners and out in front." He may be able to return on Friday or Sunday.
Nov 6 - 7:55 AM

Mike Green (upper body) took part in Monday's practice.

Green had been skating the last few days with injured forward Pavel Datsyuk, but this was his first session since he suffered an upper-body injury on Oct. 23. Green might be able to return this weekend.
Nov 3 - 10:07 AM

Mike Green will miss two-to-three weeks with an upper-body injury.

He appeared to hurt his shoulder on a hit from Calgary's Josh Jooris on Friday. Green is off to slow start with the Red Wings, with two assists in seven games, and the injury won't help.
Oct 26 - 2:00 PM

Mike Green and Kyle Quincey will both sit out Saturday's tilt with the Canucks.

Neither Green's injury nor its severity has been disclosed, but the injury prone veteran is not one for brief stays out of the lineup. Green isn't having a good season anyway with just a point through seven games. Quincey is out due to a possible concussion, and has fared little better with three points in seven games thus far for fantasy purposes.
Oct 24 - 8:15 PM

Mike Green is listed as questionable for Saturday night's game against the Canucks after leaving Friday night's contest in the first period with an upper-body injury.

As Green did not return to the contest with more than two periods to go, it is unlikely he will be able to suit up Saturday night. It looked as if Green had injured his shoulder. Green has been injury-prone for most of his career. Those who are relying on him are hoping this is not the beginning of one of his injury cycles. If Green can't answer the bell, look for Jakub Kindl to draw back in.
Oct 24 - 11:03 AM

Mike Green has one assist in six games with the Red Wings.

He has posted just five shots during that span, while averaging nearly 22 minutes of ice time per game. Green doesn't have a point on the power play yet, but it's believed he is still adjusting to his new team and his new surroundings.
Oct 23 - 8:17 AM

Mike Green (groin) is expected to play on Friday.

Green has been kept out of four straight preseason games. Under normal circumstances, he would likely be paired up with Danny DeKeyser on Friday, but DeKeyser is out with a leg injury. Instead, Green will probably be paired up with Kyle Quincey.
Oct 1 - 5:59 PM

Mike Green (groin) is expected to play in a preseason game this week.

He skated briefly on Monday and could be in the lineup for Friday's exhibition game against Toronto.
Sep 29 - 11:01 AM

Mike Green will likely not play against the Bruins Saturday night as he is nursing a groin injury.

We don't usually report on minor injuries during the early days of training camp, but with Green we will make an exception. Despite his obvious talent and upside on the Detroit power play, Green is injury prone and we wanted to take this opportunity to remind those in fantasy pools of this. He is susceptible to groin injuries and misses 10-20 games a season for a variety of health reasons. Bear this in mind on draft day.
