Kyle Brodziak scored two goals in the St. Louis Blues' 5-2, come-from-behind victory over the visiting Arizona Coyotes Monday night.
Brodziak hasn't had a productive season. His goals Monday were his sixth and seventh of the season. After the Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in the first period, Troy Brouwer popped in his 18th of the season before Brodziak tied the game at 2-2 with a shorthanded goal at 1:28 of the third period. Then the Blues took over. Vladimir Tarasenko scored his 37th of the season to put St. Louis ahead 3-2. Patrik Berglund made it 4-2 with his 10th of the season. Brodziak cemented the victory at 19:09. Tarasenko also contributed an assist, his 34th. Alex Pietrangelo and Scottie Upshall contributed two assists each for the Blues, who pulled into a tie for first place in the Central Division with the idle Dallas Stars. The Blues earlier in the day shut down captain David Backes (lower-body injury) and goalie Jake Allen (lower body) for the rest of the regular season after they were injured Sunday against the Colorado Avalanche. They will be re-evaluated after the season ends. Apr 5 - 12:25 AM

Kyle Brodziak will not play in Saturday's match with Calgary.

Brodziak is still dealing with an undisclosed injury, but he's considered day-to-day. Kyle Brodziak is expected to shift up and down the lineup in 2015-16.

"They told me that I'd probably play the first two periods on a line with (Ryan) Reaves and (Steve) Ott and be the responsible guy so they can be set free (to disturb and bang)," said Brodziak. "I know Hitch uses his fourth line a lot. After the second period, they said I might move up in the lineup and play a few more minutes." That plan may change now that Patrik Berglund will start the year on the sidelines after having shoulder surgery. Brodziak could end up centering the third line if Scott Gomez or Robby Fabbri don't earn roster spots out of training camp.

It's beginning to look more and more likely that Kyle Brodziak will be a free agent come July 1st, as neither side has spoken to each other yet.

The 31 year old veteran forward is coming off a three-year contract worth $8.5M for a $2.83M cap hit. Brodziak has spent his last six seasons with Minnesota, but wasn't the expected offensive force during his second three-year pact with them. After averaging 16 goals, 38 points, 56 blocks and 67 hits his first three seasons, Brodziak's production fell off dramatically. He averaged eight goals, 19 points, 41 blocks and 61 hits over his latest contract.
