Travis Zajac's agent, Kurt Overhardt, is fighting against the rumors that his client will be dealt to Toronto.
"There is absolutely no truth to media speculation of Travis Zajac being traded," Overhardt said. This is coming after the Newark Star-Ledger reported that New Jersey has made a trade offer to Toronto involving Zajac. It's possible that such an offer was made, but rejected. After all, Zajac has an eight-year, $46 million deal and is coming off of a very rough season, so there might not be much appetite for him unless the Devils were open to retaining part of his cap hit. Of course, if there was a team interested in Zajac, it would likely be Toronto given the presence of Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello. Oct 1 - 12:03 PM

Center Travis Zajac found the net twice to help the New Jersey Devils defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2 Wednesday night.

Jacob Josefson and Damon Severson each had two assists for the Devils. Michael Del Zotto assisted on both Philly goals, which were scored by Wayne Simmonds and Chris Porter. Keith Kinkaid had a nice game for New Jersey in net, with 27 saves. Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth made 15 saves on 18 shots before being relieved by Jason LaBarbera. LaBarbera kicked aside all eight shots he faced in the third period.

The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that the New Jersey Devils have made a trade offer that would land center Travis Zajac in Toronto.

This could make sense as Toronto GM Lou Lamoriello was with the Devils for 28 years and knows their players inside and out. A couple of players have been mentioned in return including Nazem Kadri and James van Riemsdyk, but not both. Zajac had only 11 goals and 25 points in 74 games last season and has not been the same player since missing most of the 2011-12 season with injury. Stay tuned.

New Devils head coach John Hynes will try to help Travis Zajac improve his game.

"I know he's a very good two-way player, extremely responsible, very competitive. He has some offensive upside and can score," said Hynes. "That again is something you really want to watch. I'm going to go through (video), talk with him, talk with the guys who have been here and really watch his shifts, watch his games and see what part of his game we can help him become better at." The hope is that Hynes will be able to get more offense out of Zajac. The 30-year-old center notched just 11 goals and 25 points in 74 games in 2014-15.

Outside of his bank account, Travis Zajac's future appears to be a bit less clear.

When asked about how the influence of new GM Ray Shero and impending new coaching staff will affect him Zajac bluntly responded, "To be honest, I'm not sure how I'll be affected." Zajac hasn't been the same player since losing most of 2011-12 due to injury. In the four seasons prior to the injury, Zajac scored 71 goals and 205 points. Then he signed his eight-year, $46M contract. Since then, he's tallied just 38 goals and 143 points in the four years since. Now entering his age-30 season, Zajac's time with the only organization he's known may be drying up as the Devils may look to rebuild their core. "I'll do whatever it takes to help this team in any way. I believe in this organization."

May 19 - 8:00 PM

Travis Zajac had an assist in a 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers.

Zajac has 11 goals and 24 points in 72 games this season. This is just the second season of his eight-year, $46 million contract. We wouldn't count on him ever living up to that contract, but at the same time he's just 29 years old (30 in May), so a comeback certainly isn't impossible.
Apr 8 - 11:14 AM

Travis Zajac scored for the Devils in Thursday night's 3-2 overtime loss to Washington.

Zajac's 11th marker of he season came shorthanded and set up a Devils comeback which earned New Jersey a point. Zajac has 23 points in 66 games this year.
Mar 26 - 11:52 PM

Travis Zajac scored a goal in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to Boston.

The Devils were down 2-0 in the game when Zajac scored at the 5:57 mark of the third period. Teammate Jordin Tootoo tied the game just two minutes after Zajac scored. Despite the goal, Zajac is having a rough season offensively. The 29-year-old hadn't registered a point in his last seven games coming into this one. He has just nine goals and 19 points in 54 games this season.
Feb 27 - 10:05 PM

Travis Zajac had an assist in a 2-1 loss to Edmonton Monday night.

Zajac has eight goals and 18 points in 46 contests in 2014-15. He might pick up the pace somewhat in the final months of the season, but we wouldn't count on him to have much fantasy value in standard leagues.
Feb 10 - 11:16 AM

Travis Zajac is in the lineup for the Devils Wednesday night against the Maple Leafs.

The veteran center is apparently well enough to dress Wednesday after recovering from an illness. Zajac didn’t miss any games due to the illness and will look to get his season back on track Wednesday night where he will center Patrick Elias and Martin Havlat. On the season he has eight goals and 16 points in 39 games.
Jan 28 - 7:27 PM

Travis Zajac (illness) was able to participate in Wednesday's practice.

Zajac stayed off the ice Tuesday due to the disease. He should be fine to play against Toronto Wednesday night.
Jan 28 - 10:57 AM

Travis Zajac has produced three goals and three assists in his past seven games.

He has responded well to some changes that co-coach Adam Oates has requested he make to his game. "He challenges you in different ways than a regular coach just the way he sees the game and interprets the game," Zajac said. "I haven't had many coaches who think the way he does. I like to think of myself as a cerebral player and I think having him here just gets me thinking a little differently in some situations. He challenges me to make some plays and I like that." His confidence is growing and Oates has him working on the point on the power play as well.
Jan 14 - 2:20 PM

Travis Zajac scored a goal and registered an assist in a 4-1 win Tuesday night.

Zajac has six goals and 13 points in 34 contests in 2014-15. It's been a poor season by his standards, but he has five points in his last five games. Although we wouldn't bet too heavily on the possibility, it wouldn't be surprising if Zajac has a solid second half despite his early struggles.
Jan 7 - 9:09 AM

Devils center Travis Zajac contributed a goal and an assist in the New Jersey Devils' 3-2 victory over the the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins Monday night.

It was the first win for Scott Stevens and Adam Oates, who were named co-coaches by general manager Lou Lamoriello on Saturday after the firing of Peter DeBoer on Friday. New Jersey (13-18-7) lost to the New York Rangers 3-1 on Saturday. Devils forward Jaromir Jagr scored late in the second period Monday and that turned out to be the game winner. It was his 126th game-winning goal, extending his NHL record. Zajac's goal was his sixth of the season. He also produced his fifth assist on Adam Henrique's 10th goal of the season.
