Travis Zajac was back in the lineup Thursday night despite an illness that limited him to 13 minutes Monday.
Zajac admitted he was throwing up in between periods and was very under the weather Monday night. Unfortunately, a return to health didn’t mean a return to fantasy prominence as Zajac didn’t register a point and managed just two shots on goal Thursday against the Bruins. Apr 5 - 2:29 AM

Travis Zajac is dealing the flu and did not report to the Devils' facility Tuesday.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer revealed after Monday's game that Zajac was throwing up between periods after the centerman played just 13:31. The Devils will practice Wednesday ahead of Thursday's game against the Bruins and it remains to be seen if Zajac will be sidelined for the game against Boston. We'll sideline him for now and tag him as day-to-day. We should know more tomorrow afternoon.
Apr 2 - 1:44 PM

Travis Zajac picked up a pair of assists for the Devils in a 4-1 win over Carolina Thursday night.

Zalac hasn't exactly been tearing it up with just 11 points in 31 contests, but he has been playing better of late with three points in his past two outings. Adam Henrique, Andrei Loktionov and Peter Harrold all registered goals in the win while Martin Brodeur was credited with his first goal of the season after an errant Carolina pass went into their own goal.

Travis Zajac scored a power-play goal in New Jersey's 3-2 loss to the Rangers Tuesday night.

Anton Volchenkov also scored for the Devils in the match. The marker is Zajac's first since a game back on Feb. 24 against Winnipeg.
Mar 19 - 9:55 PM

Travis Zajac will get the chance to play at home when the Devils play at Winnipeg Thursday night.

His Achilles tendon injury kept him out of all but 15 games last season and he missed the chance to play the Jets in his hometown as a result. "Excited is an understatement for where he's at," coach Pete DeBoer on Wednesday. "He's been looking forward to this game for over a year. I know he had it targeted last year as a potential game that he would be back for after his injury but unfortunately he didn't get back in time. Then he had a setback and we didn't get him back, really, until the playoffs, at close to 100 percent." Zajac has had a difficult time producing offense this season, with four goals and two assists in 19 games, but as the Devils' top-line center he should get plenty of opportunity to break out during the second half of the year.
Feb 28 - 9:35 AM

Travis Zajac sniped a goal, but the Devils came up short in their 4-2 loss to Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon.

Quite simply, Zajac hasn't been all that good this season from an offensive perspective. It was his first point in six games. The 27-year-old has only four goals and two assists on the season. Steve Bernier had the other goal in the loss.
Feb 24 - 7:43 PM

Look for the Devils to ice their usual lines against the Capitals Saturday afternoon.

New Jersey coach Peter DeBoer juggled his forward units in the third period of Thursday night's game against Washington, but in practice Friday everything was back to normal. That means that Alexei Ponikarovsky will skate on the top line with Travis Zajac and Ilya Kovalchuk, while Patrik Elias, Adam Henrique and David Clarkson will form the second unit. The third line will be feature Stefan Matteau, Stephen Gionta and Steve Bernier, while the fourth unit will be comprised of Krys Barch, Andrei Loktrionov and Bobby Butler. Adjust your lineup accordingly.
Feb 23 - 10:33 AM

Travis Zajac was recently asked if pressure brought on by his recently inked eight-year/$46 million extension could be the cause of his cold streak.

Zajac has just one assist in his last 11 games. "I don’t think so," he said. "You always put pressure on yourself, but I feel like I’m still doing the same things I was doing before. I’m coming to the rink, I trying to work hard, doing little things in games and things will come. I’m sure of it. It’s one of those things once things start happening you’re feeling better and better." Zajac will get another opportunity to break out of his offensive slump on Friday.
Feb 15 - 3:32 PM

Travis Zajac has no goals and one assist in his last 10 games.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer isn't too concerned with Zajac's lack of offensive output. "It can get to you. It makes it a lot easier that we’re winning," Zajac said. "And if I wasn't getting chances, if I wasn't winning battles, if I wasn't playing well in other areas, it would be bothering me. I’m just trying to stay focused and play the right way. Hopefully things flip here." We wouldn't be surprised if he starts putting up points in the near future.
Feb 11 - 2:10 PM

Travis Zajac didn't practice on Monday morning, but he is expected to play on Tuesday night when the Devils host Philadelphia.

The team referred to his absence as "resting." Training camp invitee Mathieu Darche, who is still skating the team, practiced with Dainius Zubrus and Ilya Kovalchuk in Zajac's spot.
Jan 21 - 1:03 PM

Travis Zajac potted a goal in the Devils' 2-1 win over the Islanders Saturday night but questions about goal scoring in New Jersey remain.

"We’re going to have to score by committee," head coach Peter DeBoer said. "We’re going to have to win low scoring games. We have to take care of our own end. That’s the kind of hockey we’re going to have to play." Nevertheless, with Zajac playing on a line with Ilya Kovalchuk to start off the season, he should be owned in 14-team leagues.
Jan 20 - 11:19 AM

Travis Zajac is ecstatic that he was able to ink a long-term deal with the New Jersey Devils.

"Obviously I want to be here. I believe in this organization 100 percent," said Zajac after the announcement of his eight-year/$46 million extension. "I think it's a first-class organization. It's the environment I want to surround myself in on and off the ice. My family is in New Jersey. We love the people here. We love living here. With all that and the players and coaching staff, I think we have a great chance here to always be successful." His current deal expires after this season and then his new one, which has a no-trade clause, kicks in which carries a $5.75 million cap hit for the Devils.
Jan 17 - 10:42 AM

Travis Zajac has received an eight-year extension from the New Jersey Devils worth $46 million.

His new deal will come with an average/salary cap hit of $5.75 million per season. Eight years is the longest amount allowable under the new CBA for a player re-signing with his team. GM Lou Lamoriello said the extension was in the works prior to the lockout.
Jan 16 - 2:51 PM

If you are looking for a sleeper pick, Travis Zajac could be your man.

He is listed far down in Yahoo pools because he missed almost all of the 2011-12 season due to an achilles injury. However, he is fully healthy now and is set to center the Devils' top line, likely alongside Ilya Kovalchuk, and anchor the team's first power play. We wouldn't be surprised if he registered 40 points this season. Not bad for someone ranked 600 in Yahoo pre-draft rankings.
Jan 12 - 10:38 AM

Travis Zajac is fully recovered after missing all but 15 regular season games in 2011-12 because of torn left Achilles tendon.

Zajac spent the last month or so in Winnipeg skating with a group of 10 other players and feels great. "There’s been no problems whatsoever," Zajac said of his Achilles. "I’m 100 percent feeling good and ready to get going." Zajac plans to participate in an informal skate with his Devils’ teammates Tuesday morning at Prudential Center.
