Drew Stafford has reportedly kept in contact with the Boston Bruins over the summer.
However, Stafford "might be one of those players who needs to go into an camp on a tryout basis," according to Joe Haggerty of CSN New England. Boston would probably want to keep their options open because they want some of their prospects to challenge for roster spots. Aug 9 - 4:05 PM

The Minnesota Wild have been in touch with UFA Drew Stafford's agent.

Stafford has some interest in playing for the Wild as well. Minnesota has to re-sign RFAs Marcus Foligno, Mikael Granlund, and Nino Niederreiter though, so they'll likely wait to re-sign them first and then circle back to Stafford once their cap situation is clear. Stafford has also been in contract with his most recent team, the Boston Bruins, but Boston also needs to settle its RFA situation first.

The Boston Bruins have remained in contact with UFA Drew Stafford.

Stafford had eight goals and 21 points in 58 contests with Winnipeg and Boston in 2017-18. Bruins GM Don Sweeney would like to wait until he's settled matters with RFAs David Pastrnak and Ryan Spooner before potentially signing Stafford though, so this isn't likely to be resolved soon.
Jul 10 - 4:27 AM

The Bruins are still interested in bringing back unrestircted free agent Drew Stafford.

Boston GM Don Sweeny told reporters that talks are ongoing. Stafford had a nice run with the Bruins (eight points in 18 games) after being acquired from the Jets on March 1st last season and could be a nice third-line option in 2017-18.
Jul 2 - 8:50 AM

Drew Stafford would like to return to Boston next season.

"Absolutely. If there's any kind of a chance [to return to Boston], I would definitely be into it. I know my wife wasn't able to make it out here, but we had talked about it a little bit as a possibility," said Stafford. "If they feel like it could be a good fit then we'll cross that bridge moving forward. The business side of it kind of works itself out, but personally I loved my experience here and it would be great. We'll see what happens." He had eight points in 18 games after he was acquired from Winnipeg and he posted two goals in six playoff matches. If he doesn't re-sign with the Bruins then Stafford is eligible for unrestricted free agency.
Apr 27 - 8:46 AM

Drew Stafford earned an assist in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.

Stafford has four goals and eight points in 18 games since being acquired by Boston. That's quite the payoff considering he had just 13 points in 40 games with the Jets prior to the trade.
Apr 8 - 6:48 PM

Drew Stafford scored a power play goal in Thursday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Stafford opened the scoring at the 10:37 mark of the first period, but he failed to convert on his shootout attempt. Zdeno Chara picked up the assist on Boston's only goal of the game. Stafford now has eight goals and 12 assists in 57 games with the Jets and Bruins. He's found the back of the net in back-to-back games.

Mar 9 - 9:36 AM

Drew Stafford played well in his Bruins' debut Saturday night against the Devils.

Stafford played alongside Ryan Spooner and Frank Vatrano on the Bruins' third line and registered an assist on Spooner's game-winning goal. He also took a team-high seven shots on goal and got some ice time on Boston's second power play. Most importantly, Stafford was selected as the game's first star. If you have an opening up front, you could do worse than pick up Stafford.
Mar 5 - 8:15 AM

Drew Stafford will make his Bruins debut in Saturday's game against New Jersey.

Stafford was acquired right before Wednesday's trade deadline ended at 3:00 p.m. ET. Although it hasn't been confirmed, Stafford is expected to start on the third line. "I think I’ll just rely on my experience playing a few games in the league and I’ve played against these guys a few times over the years, so that familiarity should help out," said Stafford. "It shouldn’t take too long to get right in there. It was good to at least get on the ice with some of the guys a little bit this morning and get things going." He isn't worth adding in standard fantasy leagues.
Mar 4 - 11:00 AM

Drew Stafford won't make his Bruins debut on Thursday.

The Bruins acquired Stafford for a conditional sixth-round pick on Wednesday. He's flying into Boston on Thursday and he'll practice with the squad on Friday.
Mar 2 - 11:25 AM

Drew Stafford was a healthy scratch in three of Winnipeg's last four games and it doesn't seem like he will be rushed into Boston's lineup.

"That is the coach's decision in terms of where he decides to play him, if he decides to play him," GM Don Sweeney said. "I think he adds some versatility. We talked about it as a group over the last couple days, but that will be the coach's decision." Stafford could compete with Jimmy Hayes, who has contributed just five points in 48 games, for playing time.
