Evgeny Artyukhin and Marty Reasoner will be healthy scratches at forward for Atlanta on Thursday.

Mark Popovic will sit in the press box from the defensive corps. Artyukhin has value in the penalty minute category and occasionally chips in with a few points. Put him on your bench for now.

Evgeny Artyukhin scored an unassisted goal in his debut with the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.

Atlanta acquired Artyukhin from the Ducks in exchange for Nathan Oystrick and a conditional draft pick in 2011. Although that's certainly the start he wanted, we wouldn't expect too many more points out of Artyukhin this season. He's playing on the Thrashers fourth line and was limited to a team-low 8:51 minutes of ice time on Thursday.

Newly acquired forward Evgeny Artyukhin is skating with his Thrasher teammates at practice on Wednesday.

He is currently on the second line with Rich Peverley and Maxim Afinogenov. Artyukhin will add size and grit to the trio, but his offensive skills are not what he is known for.

Evgeny Artyukhin has been dealt to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for defenseman Nathan Oystrick and a conditional draft pick in 2011.

Artyukhin never seemed to work out in Anaheim after the team acquired him in the summer from Tampa Bay for winger Drew Miller. He produced just nine points and 41 penalty minutes in 37 games with the Ducks and found himself sitting as a healthy scratch quite often.

It seems as if Evgeny Artyukhin is begining to earn coach Randy Carlyle's trust.

He had been a frequent healthy scratch due to his propensity to cough up the puck and take bad penalties. However, Artyukhin has dressed for two of the Ducks' last three games and has played well. Now if he could develop a little hockey sense, we may have something here.

Evgeny Artyukhin was a healthy scratch for the second game in a row.

Apparently coach Randy Carlyle is not at all happy with the penalties Artyukhin takes in the offensive zone. Artyukhin, who is a good source of penalty minutes, was bumped up to the second line when Joffrey Lupul was injured, but did not do enough offensively to stay there. Look for Artyukhin to get back in the lineup shortly, but he could be a bit tentative in the offensive zone because of the benching.

Evgeny Artyukhin was a healthy scratch on Friday.

Artyuhkin went from the second line to the press box. Dan Sexton played his first game in the NHL on Friday and took over Artyukhin's spot on the second line as he played 13 minutes with Bobby Ryan and Saku Koivu, but was held off the scoreboard.

Evgeny Artyukhin has earned a passing grade from coach Randy Carlyle on the Ducks' second line.

Artyukhin was suggested by Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu as a possible linemate and he has helped open up space for his talented Finnish teammates with his speed, size and physicality. Coach Carlyle likes "his ability to skate and not give that puck away unforced. Don't force things into the middle. Keep the simple game. Control the puck below. Give it to Koivu, give it to Selanne (and) go to the net." Artyukhin has two goals in 19 games, but could see a slight rise in production if he remains on the second unit.

Evgeny Artyukhin will face his ex-Tampa Bay teammates for the first time on Thursday.

Artyukhin was acquired by the Ducks in August for Drew Miller who has since moved on to the Red Wings. "I'm very excited," Artyukhin said. The feisty Russian could easily get into a fight tonight so don't be surprised if you see his name on the score sheet.
