Tomas Fleischmann is gaining confidence on Florida's top line.

"I want to prove that I should be there on this line," said Fleischmann, who has been playing with Nick Bjugstad and Jonathan Huberdeau. "That's what I'm trying to do right now. We have a lot of players coming back [from injury], and I want to stay where I'm at. I have to play my best right now." He has produced a goal and three helpers in his past three contests.
Dec 12 - 9:48 AM

Tomas Fleischmann earned an assist in Monday's 4-2 loss to St. Louis.

He has been heating up a bit with a goal and three assists over a three-game point streak. Fleischmann has teamed successfully with Nick Bjugstad on the top line and it has led to a mini resurgence.
Dec 9 - 9:58 AM

Tomas Fleischmann potted his second goal of the season on Thursday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus.

He was promoted to a line with Jonathan Huberdeau and Nick Bjugstad after playing on the fourth unit and sitting in the press box. Fleischmann got the Panthers on the board after they spotted the Blue Jackets a 3-0 lead. He also added an assist on one of Bjugstad's two goals in the match.
Dec 5 - 9:08 AM

The Florida Panthers are reportedly interested in trading a veteran to create an opening for one of their younger players.

Tomas Fleischmann is believed to be one of the players the Panthers would prefer to part ways with. He has just two points in 17 games in 2014-15, but can play solid defensively. However, his $4.5 million annual cap hit will likely keep him off of a lot of team's radar.
Nov 25 - 2:20 PM

Tomas Fleischmann will be moved from the fourth line to the press box Monday night.

Fleischmann can't seem to find his game with the Panthers this season and will be a healthy scratch Monday when the Panthers take on the Wild. This will mark just the second game missed for the Panthers winger. Fleischmann has amassed just a goal and assist in 17 games for Florida this year. Vincent Trochek and Dylan Olsen will also be healthy scratches for the Panthers.
Nov 24 - 7:03 PM

Tomas Fleischmann tallied his first goal of the season in Tuesday's 4-1 win over San Jose.

He was back in the lineup on the fourth line after he was a healthy scratch on Saturday night. Dating back to last season, Fleischmann ended a 21-game goal drought. He has two points in 12 games this year.
Nov 12 - 10:40 AM

Tomas Fleischmann was a healthy scratch in Florida's 6-4 loss to Calgary on Saturday night.

It's been a nightmare season for Fleischmann, who has just one assist in 11 games this season. With Jonathan Huberdeau's return to the lineup from an illness, Panthers' coach Gerrard Gallant decided Fleischmann would be the one to sit. The 30-year-old is Florida's second-highest paid forward at $4.5 million this season. "We can only play 20, and he was the odd man out," said Gallant of Fleischmann. "We wanted to give the younger guys a chance, and they played well. I don’t like benching a veteran guy, but he was just a number."
Nov 9 - 9:30 AM

Tomas Fleischmann has zero goals and one assist in 10 games this year.

This drought goes beyond this season, as Fleischmann has registered just eight goals in his past 90 games. He skated with lineup newcomers Vincent Trocheck and Rocco Grimaldi during Wednesday's practice.
Nov 6 - 10:40 AM

If Tomas Fleischmann wants to get a decent NHL contract for next season, he better start scoring goals.

Fleischmann, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, has yet to score a goal this season and scored only eight in all of last season. Given that he is no defensive dynamo, Fleischmann's worth to an NHL squad is in his ability to generate offense. Nine goals over 86 games is just not going to cut it. Needless to say, until we see a turnaround in Fleischmann's play, he should not be on anyone's fantasy roster.
Oct 25 - 10:26 AM

Tomas Fleischmann doesn't have a point after five games this season, but coach Gerard Gallant has liked what he's seen so far.

Fleischmann has 11 shots on goal and he's played well defensively. He had been playing with Dave Bolland, who has a lower-body injury, and Sean Bergenheim, but at practice on Monday he skated with Brandon Pirri and Jussi Jokinen. He's trying to keep a more positive outlook in 2014-15 than he had last year when his scoring slumps took a serious toll on his game. "I felt like I had to score to get the guys going and when it didn't work I felt bad for myself," Fleischmann said. "That's part of my hockey game I don't want to see this year."
Oct 21 - 9:46 AM

It didn't take long for Tomas Fleischmann to put the 2013-14 season in his rearview mirror.

"I forgot last season the day after it ended," Fleischmann said after practice Monday. "There's nothing I could do to change about it so I'm focusing on myself and how I can prepare for this season so it goes well. I know I can do it, so it's time to show it." He scored just eight goals and 28 points in 80 games last season. Fleischmann already has plenty of motivation to turn it around this year, but he's also eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer.
Sep 23 - 7:37 AM

Tomas Fleischmann scored a rare goal for the Panthers in Sunday's 6-2 blowout loss to the Ducks.

It's hard to explain why the talented winger has struggled so badly this season since he had enjoyed two productive campaigns prior to this one, but his total of eight goals in 70 games is a massive disappointment. Jimmy Hayes also scored in the loss, reaching double-digit markers for the first time in his career.
Mar 23 - 11:25 PM

Tomas Fleischmann opened the scoring with a power-play goal in Thursday's loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

His seventh goal of the season snapped a six-game pointless skid for the struggling forward. Fleischmann has generated just 25 points in 64 games this season.
Mar 14 - 9:10 AM

Tomas Fleischmann admitted that his lack of offensive production this season has gotten to him.

Panthers coach Peter Horachek suggested that Fleischmann has been "pressing" and focused on scoring goals above everything else and that's had a snowballing effect on his slump. Fleischmann doesn't dispute that he's had a "pressing" attitude lately. "You work hard over the summer, and you want the season to go well," Fleischmann said. "And if it doesn't, it kind of beats you down. This is the first time I've faced this. I have to learn to forget about things behind me and just focus on the next game." He scored a goal on Thursday, ending his 22-game drought, so maybe that will help him turn things around. Of course, at this point all he can hope for is ending the season on a high note.
