Kyle Quincey doesn't anticipate the Detroit Red Wings making significant defensive adjustments to counteract Chicago uniting Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Patrick Sharp on its top line.
"If we do anything different, [Marian] Hossa and the other guys will just burn us," Quincey said. "It's status quo for us. Obviously, they're all great players and we have to respect them and keep their time and space to a minimum." The Blackhawks have scored just two goals in their last three games, so they're hoping that stacking their first line will spark their offense. Chicago's a very deep team though, so as Quincey noted, Detroit can't focus its attention extensively on one line. May 25 - 3:12 PM

Kyle Quincey was a healthy scratch Sunday.

He was replaced by Brendan Smith in the lineup. "I don't have much to say on it," Quincey said. "Three guys are waiting and all ready to play and they're all good defensemen, so it's the nature of the beast." He has not had any fantasy value this season.

Kyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) has been activated off of the injured reserve list.

Quincey is expected to play in Friday's contest. He missed three weeks due to the injury.
Apr 5 - 10:01 AM

Kyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) thinks he might be able to play on Thursday.

That being said, it sounds like the Red Wings might not use Quincey on Thursday even if he declares himself ready to return. "It'll be a battle because DeKeyser thinks he's playing Thursday, too," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said, referring to Dan DeKeyser, who will try to make the jump straight from the NCAA to the NHL after signing with the Red Wings.
Apr 2 - 10:26 AM

Kyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) can resume working out.

Quincey might start skating next week and return within two weeks, according to Red Wings GM Ken Holland. If that proves to be the case, then it would be at the early end of Quincey's timetable. Any setback could potentially kill Quincey's chances of returning before the playoffs.
Mar 29 - 12:17 PM

Kyle Quincey will not require surgery to repair his fractured cheekbone.

That has to be good news for the veteran defenseman who was injured on March 15 when struck by a puck. He will still be out another three-five weeks so his regular season could be over if it is the latter length of time.
Mar 26 - 9:27 AM

Kyle Quincey (fractured cheekbone) might still be able to avoid surgery.

"There's been no decision on whether surgery is necessary, we'll know about surgery in a week," Red Wings GM Ken Holland said. Quincey is currently projected to miss four-to-six weeks.
Mar 20 - 8:55 AM

Kyle Quincey will miss four-to-six weeks due to his fractured cheekbone.

That means there's a good chance Quincey will miss what's left of the regular season. He suffered the injury while blocking a shot on Friday and will undergo surgery.

Kyle Quincey has a fractured cheekbone and will probably need surgery.

"It's disappointing for him," said Detroit coach Mike Babcock. "(Quincey) was starting to skate better and be a more effective player. It's just one of those things on the back end to keep you entertained." His absence will also create a sizable hole in Detroit's defense as they battle for a playoff spot. They currently hold the fifth seed in the Western Conference, but are just two points ahead of the ninth place squad.

Mar 16 - 5:25 PM

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey is out indefinitely after suffering a cheek injury.

Quincey was hit by a puck that ramped up Quincey's stick and hit him in the face during the third period of Friday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Oilers at Rexall Place. He was well enough to walk out of the arena, but team doctors wanted him to get an X-Ray - which wasn't available at Rexall - and fear the pressure of flying would be too much for Quincey. He stayed behind in Edmonton with assistant trainer Russ Baumann. "We don't want him to fly in case he's got something broken," general manager Ken Holland said. "We'll find out in the morning." The Wings have Ian White and Kent Huskins available as healthy options to enter the lineup. White has more ability with the puck, and is the likelier replacement especially since the Wings also need someone to fill in for Quincey on the power play. Quincey had a goal and an assist, and was a plus-8 in 26 games. He missed two games with a rolled ankle.
Mar 16 - 11:02 AM

Kyle Quincey will face his former Colorado Avalanche teammates on Tuesday.

The game is in Detroit and Quincey will find that the game in Denver on April 5 will be stranger. He spent three seasons with the Avalanche and was dealt to Detroit via Tampa Bay on Feb. 21, 2012. Quincey has only one goal with nary an assist in 20 games this season but is a plus-11, giving him some fantasy value.
Mar 5 - 8:27 AM

Kyle Quincey (ankle) is ready to rejoin the Detroit Red Wings.

Quincey was out for two games because of a rolled ankle. He has no points and a plus-10 rating in 17 games this season.
Feb 27 - 10:35 AM

Kyle Quincey is "day to day" with a "left leg injury," according to Red Wings GM Ken Holland.

"I don't think he'll play tomorrow," Holland said. "We'll see how he feels Sunday. It could have been worse." Quincey sustained the injury when he collided with Columbus forward Artem Anisimov on Thursday.
Feb 22 - 1:10 PM

Kyle Quincey rolled his ankle as a result of his collision with Columbus forward Artem Anisimov on Thursday.

Neither player was able to return to the game. There isn't a timetable for Quincey's return yet.
Feb 22 - 10:03 AM

Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey suffered an apparent left leg injury on a terrifying play against Columbus Thursday.

Columbus forward Artem Anisimov lost his footing on the same play and had to be taken from the ice on a stretcher with what could be a serious head or neck injury. The Wings have said that Quincey will not return to this game.
