Signed as free-agent three years ago, Ben Eager had trouble gaining traction with Edmonton but a job on the Oilers' bottom two lines is the left winger's to lose now.
The key is proving to head coach Dallas Eakins and the rest of the coaching staff that he can still be an effective big-bodied, physical presence. So far, so good, sources say. In both of his previous two seasons with Edmonton, Eager suffered early concussions, which set him back. Many figured his days with the Oilers were over after being put on waivers by the club last season. However, when Eager went unclaimed, he began the road to redemption, working his way from AHL Oklahoma City back into the Oilers' good graces.
