After his hit on top Ranger defenseman Ryan McDonagh earned him a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing this week, Canucks winger Alex Burrows said he had heard nothing regarding a possible suspension from the National Hockey League.

But he's heard plenty on Twitter. "There must have been 500 messages for me from Ranger fans," Burrows said. "'I'll kill your family, I want you to die.' Bad things. A lot of people were upset with me." So why read them? "I thought it was a little bit entertaining, too," Burrows said. "It's a way for people to communicate nowadays, but it is scary. Alex Burrows feels that former Canucks coach Alain Vigneault was more rationale while their current bench boss, John Tortorella, relies on gut feelings.

"For the most part, Alain let us decide how we wanted to play as a team," Burrows said. "He manages his bench well and they (Rangers) seem to be rolling four lines, and they'll be a dangerous team in the playoffs." Burrows still thinks very highly of Vigneault. Burrows enjoyed four straight campaigns of at least 25 goals, but he has just 14 points in 43 contests in 2013-14.

He has shown a propensity to contribute offensively in the past so he's worth a claim in fantasy leagues while he's hot. Jannik Hansen was the other goal scorer for Vancouver in the loss.
Mar 17 - 10:38 PM

Alexandre Burrows has been a huge disappointment this season, but he might be heating up when the Vancouver Canucks need him the most.

Mar 16 - 7:06 PM

Alex Burrows escaped from his season-long, goalless slump with two tallies in the Vancouver Canucks' 3-2 shootout win over Winnipeg Wednesday night, but the veteran right winger thinks he could have scored four.

"It was one of those nights where the puck was finding me around the net," said a relieved Burrows. "I had a lot of chances. Honestly, I think I could have had four. The reaction from the guys after the first one was funny. I know they’ve been pulling for me for a long time and they want the best for me and it was nice to see them react that way. It’s always tough when you don’t score, especially for that long. I never experienced something like that. It’s tough to put into words. You feel like you’re letting the guys down and letting the team down. I need to step up my game to help them out. We know these points are important for us."
Mar 13 - 10:48 AM

Alex Burrows shattered his goal-scoring slump in a big way Wednesday night, sniping a pair of goals in the Canucks’ 3-2 shootout victory over Winnipeg.

The Vancouver Canucks have had no scoring from their top line since the start of 2014.

Daniel Sedin has yet to score, Henrik Sedin has yet to score and Alex Burrows has not scored at all this season and yet coach John Tortorella continues to march them out as a unit. That's pretty sad production from the trio and they better get moving shortly or the Canucks will find themselves on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs are concerned.
