Alex Burrows (personal) won't play Monday night.

He returned to Vancouver on Sunday to attend to a personal matter. Consider him day-to-day for now.
Nov 16 - 11:56 AM

Alex Burrows has gone back to Vancouver to attend to family matters, and it is not clear when he will return to the team.

The Canucks have a game Monday in Montreal before capping off their seven game and two week road trip in Winnipeg on Wednesday. "It's a personal reason. He went back, and it's a good thing, so he's just back with his family," Coach Desjardins said of Burrows departure. Through 18 games this season the rugged winger has posted four goals, nine points, 10 PIMs and 16 hits.
Nov 15 - 9:46 PM

Alex Burrows scored a goal in a 4-2 loss to Toronto Saturday night.

Burrows had gone six straight contests without a point prior to Saturday's action. Jannik Hansen also scored for Vancouver in the losing effort. Daniel Sedin, Yannick Weber, and Alexander Edler each registered an assist for the Canucks.
Nov 14 - 10:46 PM

Alex Burrows will play in his 700th NHL game on Monday night.

The Canucks forward will become the eighth player currently on Vancouver's roster to play in over 700 contests. The 34-year-old has 178 goals and 350 points in his NHL career.
Nov 2 - 7:31 PM

With a goal in Friday's 4-3 win, Alex Burrows now has points in three of his last four games.

Burrows is off to a hot start this season with three goals and eight points in 11 games thus far. He skated 16:18 with over four minutes spent on special teams, suggesting Coach Desjardins trusts the rugged winger - and he's healthy.
Oct 31 - 1:33 AM

Alex Burrows is fully recovered from the injured ribs he suffered during the playoffs.

He has been skating with prospects Jake Virtanen and Cole Cassels in the early part of training camp. Burrows will probably see some preseason action with them, but when the regular season begins he is likely to play on one of the Canucks' top-two lines. That will either place him alongside the Sedin twins or with newcomer Brandon Sutter.
Sep 20 - 11:42 AM

Alex Burrows was disappointed to see Kevin Bieksa moved in the off-season, but he still supports the changes that Vancouver made to get ready for 2015-16 campaign.

"I put my confidence in our management group of [general manager] Jim Benning and Trevor Linden," Burrows said. "They're obviously intelligent people with a plan, and last season was the first year of their plan." He believes the Western Conference is wide open and expects the Canucks to be in the mix for a playoff spot.
Aug 17 - 4:32 PM

Expect to see Alex Burrows get a lot more time on the top line with the Sedin twins next season.

Coach Willie Desjardins liked the rugged winger playing alongside Henrik and Daniel Sedin. "I think the way Daniel and Henrik handle the puck, they need a guy who will go to the net," Desjardins explained. "If they have a guy there, they’ll get the puck there. I think they need a guy who is maybe a little bit hard on the forecheck and will get in there and be a little bit of a physical presence. I think they need a guy who is a pretty good skater on the line to come back (defensively)." This could have an effect on Radim Vrbata who spent most of the season on the top line. While Burrows value could go up next season in fantasy pools, Vrbata's value could take a small hit.
May 2 - 8:56 AM

Alex Burrows (ribs) returned to Vancouver with the Canucks on Saturday.

Burrows was forced to stay in Calgary after Game 4 as he suffered a broken rib on Tuesday during practice. He will have until September to recover since the Canucks were eliminated on Saturday in six games.
Apr 26 - 8:35 AM

There's no word on when, exactly, he's eligible to return (beyond after the first round, if applicable), but it's a good sign that Alex Burrows can at least travel with his Vancouver Canucks teammates.

It appears as if his issue is rib-related. The Canucks face long odds in coming back in this series, but if they can, perhaps Burrows can play in future games.
Apr 25 - 3:43 PM

Alex Burrows will miss the remainder of the first round due to his broken rib.

Burrows is also staying in Calgary rather than traveling back to Vancouver for Game 5 on Thursday. Canucks coach Willie Desjardins said that Burrows injury isn't serious though and his decision to stay in Calgary for now is a "comfort thing." Burrows was hospitalized on Tuesday after attempting to participate in the team's practice.
Apr 22 - 5:30 PM

Alex Burrows' upper-body injury is reportedly a broken rib.

Burrows attended Tuesday's practice, but he left the ice and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. He's reportedly no longer in any danger. He won't play on Tuesday of course and it's not yet clear how long he'll need to recover.
