Alex Burrows took a puck to the side of his head late in the third period of Thursday's loss to Edmonton.

Burrows was hit when he was sitting on the bench and left for the dressing room to be checked out. There wasn't any word of an injury after the contest, so we will keep him active for now and let you know if that changes.

Mar 18 - 12:40 AM

Alex Burrows scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 5-4 win over the Vegas Golden Knights.

This was Burrows' first game back in the lineup after he served a 10-game suspension for kneeing Devils forward Taylor Hall in the head. His goal at the 8:51 mark of the third period gave the Sens a 5-4 advantage. It was also his first tally since Nov. 4 (also against Vegas). Burrows has four goals and five assists in 52 games this season.

Mar 1 - 5:58 PM

The Ottawa Senators have placed Alex Burrows on waivers.

Burrows is still serving his 10-game suspension for kneeing Taylor Hall in the head, but he's eligible to return to the lineup on Mar. 2. Still, it's unlikely that anyone will be willing to him off Ottawa's hands because he's not productive and he still has one year remaining on his contract that comes with a cap hit of $2.5 million. Burrows has three goals and five assists in 51 games this season.
Feb 25 - 12:06 PM

It seems Alex Burrows is weighing the possibility of appealing his 10-game suspension.

Burrows was punished for knocking Taylor Hall to the ice and then proceeding to punch and knee Hall in the back of the head multiple times. If he doesn't successfully appeal his suspension then he would return to the Senators' lineup on March 2nd. Burrows has a 48-hour window to file his appeal.
Feb 8 - 1:37 PM

Alex Burrows has been suspended 10 games for being an aggressor and kneeing Devils forward Taylor Hall in the head multiple times.

Burrows was offered an in-person hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, so we knew that there was a possibility that he'd get more than five games. The league is clearly trying to send a message that such behavior on the ice will not be tolerated. The Senators forward was last suspended in Oct. 2014, which means he's not considered a repeat offender by the NHL's standards. He'll forfeit over $134,000 in salary during his suspension. He'll be eligible to return to the lineup on March 2nd when Ottawa plays in Vegas. Burrows has three goals and five assists in 51 games this season.
Feb 7 - 8:27 PM

Updating an earlier item, Alex Burrows was indeed offered an in-person hearing from the NHL Department of Player Safety and he has waived that right.

Burrows could be facing a suspension of six games or more for aggressor/kneeing New Jersey's Taylor Hall on Tuesday night. A hearing will be held over the telephone on Wednesday afternoon for the incident.

Feb 7 - 10:23 AM

Alex Burrows is expected to be back in the lineup on Saturday.

Burrows was scratched on Wednesday against the Rangers. "We just felt we wanted to get young legs," said coach Guy Boucher, who chose to play Nick Paul instead. "Back-to-back, on a road trip. He'll be back in next game for sure. That was just a plan I had in mind at the start of the season." Burrows hasn't earned a point in his past nine contests.

Alex Burrows will serve as a healthy scratch in Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers.

Burrows hasn't played well this season and it looks like it will finally cost him his spot in the lineup. The veteran has just three goals and three assists in 29 games this season. He hasn't scored in 15 games and he has just one point during that stretch. Nick Paul will take his spot in the lineup.

Alex Burrows recorded his 400th career point on Saturday.

Burrows netted a goal at 7:12 in the second period against Vegas. However, the Golden Knights went on to earn a 5-4 victory, making Burrows' accomplishment hard for him to celebrate. "Doesn’t really matter if I get on the scoresheet or not," said Burrows. "As long as the team is successful, that’s what really matters to me. Even (though) I scored tonight, I don’t care. We lost. It’s not a good feeling right now." He reached the 400-point milestone in his 856th career game.

It was the 200th marker of his career. Unfortunately, Burrows has two points so far this season and he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.
