Alexandre Picard is ready to make his first start for the Penguins on Saturday.

Picard was called up to replace Ben Lovejoy, who suffered a broken wrist on Thursday. "There might be a little period of adjustment at the start of the game, but I've got experience," Picard said. Alexandre Picard has been bought up by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

However, it isn't clear if this move is simply for extra depth on the blueline with Zbynek Michalek (finger) and Brian Strait (wrist) sidelined with injuries or if it is an indication that Kris Letang's unspecified injury will keep him out of Thursday's contest.

He didn't make me any promises. He told me what their expectations were going to be." Picard will make $105,000 in the minors, compared to $600,000 if he plays with Pittsburgh. We'll keep you posted.
