Jay Harrison has been added to Team Canada's roster for the upcoming world championship.
He was said to be suffering from a concussion at the end of the regular season. Maybe his status will be determined just before the tournament begins in May. Jay Harrison is dealing with a concussion.

Harrison had already been ruled out of the season finale. He's got all summer to recover, but it's hard to put a timetable on concussions, so we can't really say if he'll be fine for the start of 2013-14 or not.

Hurricanes defenseman Jay Harrison was forced to leave Thursday's game against the Rangers after taking a puck to the face.

A Ryan Callahan wrist shot caught Harrison in the face and left him bloodied, forcing him to the locker room immediately, We'll update his condition once we know more.

The Hurricanes don't play again until Tuesday, so they'll use the extra time to reset. They're currently tied for the last playoff spot. "If you ever had any hope of playing this year, you've got to feel good about this week and hope that all the hard work that has gone into negotiations to this point has been worth it," he said. "We can get going and by the time the playoffs start this will all be like a bad dream." The players' union and the league are set to resume talks on Tuesday in New York.

Jay Harrison re-upped with the Hurricanes on a three-year deal worth $4.5 million.

The extension will kick in beginning in the 2013-14 season, as Harrison has a year left at $750,000 this coming year. The 29-year-old set career highs with nine goals and 14 assists last season, and he also was second on the team with 132 blocked shots.

Jay Harrison potted both goals for the Carolina Hurricanes in their 5-2 loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.

Not exactly the recipe for success. Harrison isn't really fantasy relevant, as he has five goals and 15 assists on the year, though he's already reached career milestones in both regards. Eric Staal, Anthony Stewart, Jamie McBain and Brandon Sutter all recorded helpers.

Jay Harrison returned to Carolina's lineup on Sunday.

He saw 19:58 of ice time in his first action since Nov. 23 due to a concussion. Harrison isn't expected to have any fantasy value this campaign, but it's good to see him back on the active roster.

He has missed the past nine games, but GM Jim Rutherford said the defenseman may be ready to return on Sunday against the Florida Panthers.

Harrison practiced on Thursday before he finally told the team that he was hurt. He didn't play on Friday and won't participate in Monday's contest.
