James Wisniewski is looking for an NHL contract after he spent part of the 2016-17 season in the minors.

It didn't take long for James Wisniewski to sign a standard contract with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

Though the timing is a bit curious given that he hasn't suited up for them just yet. Be that as it may, we don't yet know the full details of his deal but we'll keep you posted. The 32-year-old posted a goal and four points with 39 PIMs in 16 games will the Vladivostok Admiral of the KHL this season.

James Wisniewski has signed a 25-game professional tryout with AHL Chicago Wolves, the St. Louis Blues' affiliate.

The 32-year-old posted a goal and four points with 39 PIMs in 16 games will the Vladivostok Admiral of the KHL this season.

James Wisniewski has signed with the Vladivostok Admirals of the KHL, and the deal will include an NHL out-clause.

No word yet on length or term of the deal. The 32-year-old veteran defender will seek to rebuild his stock after missing all of last season due to injury. Should he prove to be able to keep up with today's speedier game, expect to see the offensive defenseman back in no time.

James Wisniewski is reportedly close to signing with Barys Astana of the KHL.

He was released from his professional tryout with the Lightning after he was bought out by Carolina, but he wants to play this year. Wisniewski is still hopeful that he will be back in the NHL at some point.

A few key details have come to light about why James Wisniewski was ultimately seen as an ill-fitting piece for Tampa Bay.

As Lightning coach Jon Cooper notes, "For him, he's had some major injuries to both of his knees, and he slowed down a little bit. And we weren't unfortunately in a situation where we could wait." There's no question the game has sped up tremendously, likewise, ACL and knee injuries can easily hamper any player. Especially one that was never fleet-of-foot in the first place. Tampa also has a cap crunch ahead as they have less than $6M available, which is the bare minimum it may take to re-sign Nikita Kucherov.

Scratch that, James Wisniewski has been released from his PTO by Tampa Bay.

Fortunately, there's 28 other teams who could probably use the talented defender. The trick is finding the right one. If he's healthy, it won't take long. Stay tuned.

If you are looking for a sleeper pick on the blueline, consider James Wisniewski.

Wiz was a top fantasy defenseman three seasons ago. With the success-challenged Hurrricanes he did not play well and then missed almost the entire 2015-16 campaign due to a torn ACL. That said, the 32-year-old Wiz may still have something left in the tank and he is in the right organization to bounce back. The Bolts like their rearguards to join the rush, something Wisniewski was good at doing when he was at the top of his game a few seasons ago. Keep an eye on him.

James Wisniewski is upbeat going into the Lightning's training camp.

Wisniewski will be competing for a spot on the squad after agreeing to a professional tryout offer. "(GM Steve Yzerman) told me they really wanted a right-shot power play defenseman," Wisniewski said. "I've been in that role the last six years or so. So what better team to come to than a team that loves being here?" Wisniewski had 51 points in 2013-14, but he endured a steep decline in 2014-15 and then he missed almost all of last season due to a torn ACL. He's still just 32-years-old, but he certainly has a lot to prove.

James Wisniewski will be competing for a depth spot on the Lightning at training camp.

He could earn a spot on the roster as the seventh defenseman if his professional tryout leads to a contract with Tampa Bay. Wisniewski has to prove that he is back to 100 percent after a torn ACL kept him out of nearly the entire 2015-16 season. If he lands a spot on the team then it would give the Bolts some great depth on the back end.

James Wisniewski has accepted a PTO with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He only played 47 seconds last season because of a torn ACL and he was bought out by Carolina in June. The Lightning will give him a chance to impress at training camp.

James Wisniewski hopes to be back on the ice this season.

The unrestricted free agent defender has been preparing for the upcoming campaign. Wisniewski logged just 47 seconds of ice time in 2015-16 before suffering a season-ending knee injury as a member of the Hurricanes.

Don't be surprised if the Maple Leafs pursue free agent James Wisniewski.

The Buds are in the market for a moderately-priced all purpose veteran defenseman and Wisniewski and Kris Russel fit the bill. Stay tuned.

The Carolina Hurricanes have bought out James Wisniewski.

Wisniewski's tenure with the Hurricanes' was just one game in length due to a torn ACL. By buying out his contract, Carolina will add $2 million in cap space for the 2016-17 campaign, but they'll have an extra $1 million against the cap in 2017-18. In the meantime, keep in mind that Wisniewski is still just 32 years old and recorded 51 points as recently as 2013-14. A comeback campaign is not out of the question under the right circumstances.

James Wisniewski (knee) should be fully cleared in the near future.

Of course the season is over for Carolina, but if Wisniewski is healthy soon that will allow him to prepare for the 2016-17 campaign without complication. Wisniewski only played in one game this season.
