Look for Joakim Lindstrom to get the first chance to play with Paul Stastny and Alexander Steen.

He has a history with coach Ken Hitchcock in Columbus who believes he might mesh well with the newly-acquired Stastny and last season's breakout player, Steen. Needless to say, if Lindstrom can keep this gig, he will be draft worthy in most hockey pools.
Sep 27 - 1:24 PM

Newly-signed forward Joakim Lindstrom has some ties to the St. Louis Blues.

He played under current Blues bench boss Ken Hitchcock in Columbus and he is friends with Alexander Steen. "So he's got some offensive ability," GM Doug Armstrong said. "I think we're a team that can provide him with an opportunity and he certainly adds to our skill and our depth. Again, I don't want to oversell, but it's a player that has some skill and we'll see how he can fit into our lineup." It's unclear if he'll be able to secure a roster spot on a very deep St. Louis team.
May 29 - 2:14 PM

Joakim Lindstrom has signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Lindstrom is returning to the NHL after two seasons in Sweden. He had 63 points and 72 penalty minutes in 55 games with Skelleftea AIK in 2013-14. The 30-year-old also has 15 goals and 33 points in 97 career NHL contests. "He's a player that's been to North America, gone back and really reinvented his game," Blues GM Doug Armstrong said. "He came over probably too young and went back (to Sweden). He wants to come back (to the NHL). I know there were a few teams that were trying to get him to come back to North America."

The Avalanche placed forward Joakim Lindstrom on waivers today.

Lindstrom was signed as a free agent in June after spending the last two seasons in Russia (KHL) and his native Sweden. Colorado coach Joe Sacco gave the forward, who will turn 28 on Dec. 5, plenty of chances. Lindstrom played on the top two lines and was used on the point with the man advantage. However, in 16 games, he could only muster 2-3-5 while going minus-9. It was Lindstrom’s fifth shot at the NHL having played parts of four seasons with Columbus and Phoenix prior to going overseas after the 2008-09 campaign.

Joakim Lindstrom scored a goal and added an assist but it wasn't enough as the Phoenix Coyotes dropped a 5-4 decision to the Detroit Red Wings.
