The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Blake Comeau to a one-year, $700,000 contract.
One of the Penguins main objectives going into the free agent period was to solidify their bottom two lines and Comeau certainly helps in that regard. The gritty forward had five goals and 16 points in 61 games in 2013-14. Jul 1 - 1:12 PM

There haven't been any contract talks between the Blue Jackets and Blake Comeau.

He can become an unrestricted free agent in July and it looks like he will be permitted to test the open market. Comeau appears to caught in a numbers game, where there simply aren't enough roster spots to go around. Columbus wants to give some of their prospects a shot at making the team and there are some players who are expected to be signed instead of him. Comeau posted 16 points and 197 hits in 61 games last season.

Columbus outhit Pittsburgh 65-32 in Game 3 on Monday.

Blake Comeau led the attack for the Blue Jackets with eight hits in the contest. It didn't end up turning the tide in this match as Pittsburgh still won 4-3, but Penguins coach Dan Bylsma acknowledged the disparity. "I don't want to say it's not a concern," Bylsma said. "They're a physical group and they come after you. But tonight I feel like we had the puck an awful lot in the offensive zone. If that's them coming after us and hitting us there, so be it."
Apr 22 - 9:40 AM

Blake Comeau scored a goal in Columbus' 3-2 overtime defeat to Colorado.

It was Comeau's first goal since Dec. 19, 2013. Oddly enough, the Blue Jackets have lost all four games that he has scored in this season.
Apr 2 - 8:50 AM

With no one among the Columbus Blue Jackets collecting a point, Blake Comeau's Sunday stood out in a 2-0 loss to the New York Islanders.

Comeau collected five PIM, three SOG and five hits in today's defeat. The Blue Jackets have a nice collection of deeper stats-fillers, but that was today's notable performance. Normally Comeau isn't really worth adding, though.

Blake Comeau was reinstated from his suspension on Tuesday March 18.

Comeau was being punished for boarding Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith. He had three shots on goal and four hits in his return.
Mar 19 - 2:23 AM

Blake Comeau has been handed a two-game suspension by the NHL for boarding Detroit defenseman Brendan Smith on Tuesday.

Comeau was given a double minor as a result of the incident. His two-game suspension might have been longer under other circumstances, but it helped that he had no prior suspension history and Smith wasn't injured as a result of the play. Comeau can return on March 18.

Blake Comeau and Corey Tropp have been healthy scratches for the Columbus Blue Jackets since the Olympic break ended but, both of them might suit up against Nashville on Saturday night.

"We've got to get some energy in there," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "With Tropp and Comeau, how they've played this season, you know they’re going to skate and play hard. And we have some guys who aren't skating as hard as we need them to play."
Mar 8 - 9:38 AM

Blake Comeau (knee) is ready to return to the Blue Jackets' lineup.

That doesn't necessarily mean he'll play though. Comeau might end up being listed as a healthy scratch on Thursday.
Feb 26 - 9:29 AM

Blake Comeau is doubtful for Monday's game with a knee injury.

Comeau missed nine games with the knee injury, played on Tuesday and re-injured his knee. Consider him day-to-day but it's more likely than not that he will not return until after the Olympic break. He has no fantasy value.
Feb 3 - 6:54 AM

Blake Comeau skated Thursday morning, but he won't play against Washington.

He "tweaked" his left knee before temporarily going to the dressing room during the second period of Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Ottawa. That game was Comeau's first appearance back after missing nine matches with a sprained left knee. Corey Tropp will play in his place.
Jan 30 - 2:53 PM

Blake Comeau's return from a knee injury on Tuesday didn't go as planned.

Comeau seemed to be favoring his right leg as he limped off the ice and went to the dressing room during the second period. He did manage to return, but only ended up skating in one shift in the third period. In total, he logged just 5:25 minutes of ice time. He was given further treatment after the game and didn't speak to the media, so even though he did return briefly, we're going to err on the side of caution and list him as being back on the sidelines for now.
Jan 29 - 9:33 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated Blake Comeau (knee) from the injured reserve list.

Comeau went with the Blue Jackets to Carolina where they meet the Hurricanes on Monday. He returned to the active roster after only three weeks when the preliminary reports had him out for four-six weeks. Comeau has only three goals and 11 points this season so his fantasy value is negligible.
Jan 27 - 6:24 AM

Blake Comeau (knee) has been skating lately.

The next step is for Comeau to participate in a practice, but he isn't expected to do that for another week or so. He hasn't played since Jan. 6.
Jan 21 - 3:18 PM

Blake Comeau (knee) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Comeau is expected to be out for the next four-to-six weeks with a sprained MCL, so this move makes sense. With the Olympics fast approaching, Comeau will probably end up making his return after the break.
