No stranger to the Panthers, Thomas was shuttled back and forth between the Panthers and the minors last season playing in 24 games with the parent club. He did not sign an NHL deal for this season, instead coming to terms with Florida's AHL affiliate in San Antonio where he was 9-8-17 in 25 games. In 80 NHL games with the Coyotes, Penguins and Panthers, the Pennsylvania native is 15-12-27.

Thomas played 53 games with the Panthers' minor-league affiliate in Rochester last season where he notched 16 goals and 20 assists. He also posted seven points in 24 contests with Florida when he was called up to the big club.
