Ryan Potulny had two assists Wednesday night in Hershey's 4-0 win over St. John's.

Potulny, who has 11 points, last played in the NHL in the 2010-11 season with the Senators. He's spent the last two seasons with the Caps' AHL affiliate and will likely continue to be minor league depth. Zach Hamill, a 2007 first-rounder of the Bruins who is now with the Caps, had a goal in the win, his 17th point of the season.

The Ottawa Senators said on Monday that they will not retain the rights to Ryan Potulny, Cody Bass and Jason Bailey.

All three players will become unrestricted free agents on Friday after not getting qualifying offers. Potulny skated in just 10 games with Chicago and Ottawa last season, but was outstanding in Binghamton's drive to a Calder Cup championship with 26 points in 23 playoff games to lead all scorers. Ottawa GM Bryan Murray called the decision a favor to Potulny and Bass to try to get them one-way contracts elsewhere.

Ryan Potulny is leading the AHL in playoff scoring with 25 points in 17 games.

The former Flyers' third-round pick, along with Zack Smith and Robin Lehner, is one of the major reasons the Binghamton Senators are in the AHL finals. The Baby Sens are waiting for the winner of the Houston/Hamilton series to see who they will face for the Calder Cup. Potulny will be 27 by the time NHL training camp rolls around so his best years may be behind him.

The Chicago Blackhawks have sent Ryan Potulny to Rockford of the AHL.

The Blackhawks put Potulny on waivers Tuesday and when he passed through them, he was sent to the minors. He played 64 games last season for the Oilers, but there is a big difference trying to make the Stanley Cup champions rather than the 30th place team. He will return if there are injuries to the Blackhawks up front but will have no fantasy value.
