Thomas Greiss did his best to prevent it, but the Coyotes dropped a 2-0 decision to the Predators on Thursday night.

Apr 11 - 12:41 AM

Thomas Greiss allowed four goals on 30 shots in Phoenix's 4-3 overtime loss to the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

Greiss has not provided adequate relief for the Coyotes since Mike Smith went down, owning a 2-2-4 record and a five game losing skid since taking over the crease. The 28-year-old's strong start keeps his line looking good at a 9-7-5 record with a .920 save percentage and 2.36 goals against average. But Phoenix has lost control of its own playoff destiny with Greiss in goal.
Apr 9 - 12:14 AM

Thomas Greiss still is looking to be a starting goaltender in the NHL.

Greiss is now getting every opportunity to show what he can do as Mike Smith is out of action as the Coyotes head down the stretch. Greiss is 2-2-2 since taking over but he has played very well in the Coyotes cage. Greiss inked a one-year contract with Phoenix in the off-season and is slated to become a UFA at the end of the season. Smith is unlikely to return before the end of the regular season and the Coyotes have faith that Greiss can continue to do the job.
Apr 6 - 9:38 AM

Thomas Greiss was unable to single-handedly slow down the Oilers in Friday's 3-2 shootout loss.

Greiss did his best to carry his team to victory, stopping 24 of 26 shots through 65 minutes of play, but he suffered a defeat nonetheless. His record now stands at 9-7-4 while his GAA is 2.28 and his save percentage is .923. He has been a more-than-adequate replacement for the injured Mike Smith.
Apr 5 - 1:20 AM

Thomas Greiss let in four goals on 32 shots in Phoenix 4-0 loss to Los Angeles Wednesday evening.

Greiss lost his third straight game and the Coyotes could not afford to lose if they want to make it to the playoffs. Greiss now has a 9-7-3 record with a 2.31 goals-against average and .923 save percentage. Greiss will continue to start for the Coyotes as long as Mike Smith is injured.
Apr 3 - 3:09 AM

Thomas Greiss stopped 21 of 22 shots in Phoenix's 2-1 shootout loss to Winnipeg Tuesday night.

Greiss started his fourth straight game for the Coyotes and played a solid game. He has been good for the Coyotes since Mike Smith injured himself. Greiss now has a 9-6-3 record with a 2.21 GAA and a .926 save percentage. He will continue to start for the Coyotes as long as Smith will be sidelined.
Apr 2 - 3:32 AM

Thomas Greiss will make his career-high fourth consecutive start on Tuesday.

The reason why the Coyotes are leaing on Greiss is because starting netminder Mike Smith is sidelined. Greiss has a 2.30 GAA and .924 save percentage in 19 games in 2013-14.
Apr 1 - 5:33 PM

Thomas Greiss yielded two goals on 27 shots in Phoenix's 3-1 loss to the Wild on Saturday night.

Greiss was looking for his third straight win. He's given up two goals in three straight starts. Greiss has a 2.31 goals-against average and .924 save percentage and should continue to get the work between the pipes with Mike Smith sidelined.
Mar 29 - 11:45 PM

Thomas Greiss won his second consecutive start in place of the injured Mike Smith Thursday when the Coyotes earned a 3-2 shootout win over New Jersey.

Greiss blocked 26 of 28 shots through 65 minutes of action and was perfect in the shootout, stopping all three Devils shooters he went up against. His record on the season is now 9-5-2 while his GAA is 2.31 and his save percentage is .924. He's a very worthy fantasy pickup if you're in need of goaltending.
Mar 27 - 10:15 PM

Thomas Greiss was approached about a contract extension during the Olympic break, but it doesn't look like he is ready to commit to the Coyotes right now.

Greiss, an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, is concerned about the lack of playing time behind Mike Smith, as he had started 11 times before Smith got hurt during Monday's game. "We'd like Thomas back and we like how he's played for us, but if we can't get him signed, we'll have to go get someone else," general manager Don Maloney said.
Mar 26 - 8:11 PM

Thomas Greiss passed his first test stepping into injured starter Mike Smith's crease, stopping 23 shots to lead the Coyotes to a 3-2 win over the Penguins on Tuesday night.

Greiss improves to 8-5-2 this season with a .924 save percentage and 2.35 save percentage. The win snaps a three game losing personal losing streak for Greiss, and gives the Coyotes confidence that if Smith is not ready to go Thursday versus New Jersey, Greiss is capable of filling in once again.
Mar 25 - 10:54 PM

Thomas Greiss will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

That's not surprising given that Mike Smith sustained a leg injury during Monday's game. Greiss has a 2.38 GAA and .924 save percentage in 16 games this season.
Mar 25 - 12:18 PM

Phoenix goaltender Thomas Greiss was tagged with a loss when he entered Monday's 4-3 overtime defeat to the Rangers midway through the third period.

Greiss was forced into duty with the Coyotes ahead by a goal 12 minutes into the third period after starter Mike Smith suffered an apparent leg injury, but he was unable to hang on as he allowed two goals on nine shots. If Smith's injury is determined to be serious, and it very well might be, Greiss is the favorite for playing time in the Phoenix goal.
Mar 24 - 10:28 PM

Thomas Greiss allowed four goals on 33 shots in Phoenix's 4-2 loss to Colorado Friday night.
