Thomas Greiss cruised to a 30-save, 8-1 win over the Oilers on Sunday.
It was 4-0 before the first period ended, so Greiss had this one on lock early. His record is now up to 14-6-2 with 48 goals against on the season. Greiss might be this season's best backup netminder. Feb 7 - 6:24 PM

Thomas Greiss will face Edmonton on Sunday afternoon.

After Jaroslav Halak got trounced by Detroit on Saturday, Greiss will get the nod just ahead of the Super Bowl. Greiss has been everything and more for the Islanders this season, posting a 13-6-2 record with a .927 save percentage and 47 goals against in 21 games.
Feb 6 - 9:43 PM

Thomas Greiss stopped 18 of 20 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The 29-year-old has been on a roll as he's won four of his last five games. Greiss has a 13-6-2 record with a 2.32 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage in 2015-16. His fantasy upside is limited because of the presence of Jaroslav Halak.
Jan 12 - 10:05 PM

Thomas Greiss will face Columbus on Tuesday night.

Despite allowing nine goals over his last two starts, Greiss has been stellar for the Islanders so far this season. He's 12-6-2 record with a .928 save percentage and just 45 goals against in 17 starts and 20 games.
Jan 12 - 6:09 PM

Thomas Greiss allowed five goals on 41 shots in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Dallas Stars.

It wasn't Greiss' best performance, but it was good enough for him to pick up the win. The 29-year-old has won three of his last four contests, but he's given up nine goals in his last two starts. He has a 12-6-2 record with a 2.33 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage this season.
Jan 3 - 8:10 PM

Thomas Greiss will face Dallas on Sunday afternoon.

Greiss will look to bounce back from his season's worst game in his first attempt at playing on consecutive days this season. Then again, Greiss was yanked last night after stopping just 22 of 26 shots in half a game's worth of work. For the season, he's 11-6-2 with 40 goals against and a .932 save percentage.
Jan 3 - 3:29 PM

Thomas Greiss gave up four goals before being yanked in the second period against the Penguins in the Islanders’ 5-2 loss.

Greiss made 22 saves in 30:57 in a game that was defense-optional for the Islanders, apparently. Christopher Gibson came on in relief, stopping 16 of 17 shots, in his NHL debut. Greiss has a 2.19 GAA and .932 SV%.
Jan 2 - 10:00 PM

Thomas Greiss will get the start in Saturday's game against Pittsburgh.

This will be Greiss' fourth straight start. He's won each of his last two games and enters tonight's action with an 11-5-2 record. Greiss has a 2.03 goals-against-average and a .936 save percentage.
Jan 2 - 4:56 PM

Thomas Greiss made 42 saves, including 17 during the first period in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Sabres.

Greiss even turned away 15 of 16 shots during special teams play, half of which came during the first period as well. Simply incredible. Greiss was every bit on point tonight and improved his record to 11-5-2 with .936 save percentage and a flat 2.00 GAA.

Thomas Greiss will get the nod for the Islanders Thursday night.

It will be his third straight start since Jaroslav Halak went down with an upper-body injury. He has one win and loss against Toronto in his previous two outings.
Thu, Dec 31, 2015 05:13:00 PM

Thomas Greiss allowed three goals on 33 shots in a 6-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs of Tuesday.

With Halak injured for a good portion of the season so far, Greiss has really stepped in admirably for the Islanders. He will be a fantasy option as long as Halak stays on the shelf. He now has 10 wins in 17 games to improve his record to 10-5-2.
Tue, Dec 29, 2015 09:47:00 PM

Thomas Greiss will be back in goal for the Islanders on Tuesday night against Toronto.

That isn't surprising as Jaroslav Halak didn't make the trip because of an upper-body injury. Greiss stopped 35 of 37 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Leafs this past Sunday.
Tue, Dec 29, 2015 12:05:00 PM

Thomas Greiss stopped 35 of 37 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday.

Greiss is having a terrific season and is worth at least spot starts while Jaroslav Halak is injured. The Islanders play the Leafs again on Tuesday and if Halak can't go, Greiss will definitely get the nod again in goal. Greiss is now 9-5-2 on the season.

Thomas Greiss will be in the crease against Toronto on Sunday night.

It'd be tough to blame anyone who hasn't yet realized Greiss is 9-4-2 with 30 goals against in 15 games this season. What's more is that he's allowed three goals in a start just twice since October, and none in December. Given where the Leafs are in the standings, and how well Greiss and the Islanders' defense has performed this season, this could be a stealthy start if you're in a pinch.
Sun, Dec 27, 2015 01:08:00 PM

Thomas Greiss put forth another quality effort, but the Islanders fell to the Avalanche 2-1 after making 28 saves on Thursday night.

Don't point a finger at Greiss for the loss, only a long floater through a maze of bodies and a deflection of his own teammate, Mikhail Grabovski, beat the Isles backup netminder tonight. Tough luck to say the least, but he numbers bear out that he's having perhaps his best season yet with just 30 goals against and a .933 save percentage in 15 games thus far. Though his record did just slip to 9-4-3 on the season.
