Thomas Greiss is being tested for the mumps.

He has been placed in isolation as a precaution. Greiss was slated to start Thursday against Colorado, but now the nod will probably go to Marc-Andre Fleury after he came up negative for the mumps and practiced in the morning.
Dec 18 - 10:39 AM

Thomas Greiss will be between the pipes for Pittsburgh on Thursday.

He will face Colorado because Marc-Andre Fleury is dealing with an illness. The Penguins' number one goalie is being tested for the mumps, so Greiss will occupy the crease in his place and Jeff Zatkoff will back him up.
Dec 17 - 6:40 PM

Thomas Greiss made 24 saves in the Penguins’ 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus on Saturday night.

Greiss was making his first start since Dec. 4. He has helped the Penguins earn at least a point in all but two of his outings this season. Greiss has a 2.52 goals-against average and .919 save percentage this season.
Dec 13 - 10:25 PM

Thomas Greiss will be between the pipes on Saturday night against Columbus.

Believe it or not, Greiss has six starts over the last four seasons against Columbus. The first five were with San Jose and his last start was with Phoenix. He's won just two of those starts, and none in the last three where he's allowed 13 goals on 90 shots.
Dec 13 - 4:58 PM

Thomas Greiss stopped 28 of 31 shots in Thursday night's 3-0 loss against Vancuouver.

The Pens didn't give Greiss much of a shot on Thursday, as they were outplayed and outshot by an energetic Vancouver side. Greiss' record falls to 3-2-1 this season with a .923 save percentage and 2.47 goals against average.
Dec 4 - 10:06 PM

Thomas Greiss will be between the pipes for Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Dec 4 - 6:37 PM

Thomas Greiss kicked aside 32 shots in the Penguins’ 3-2 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Greiss last played last Saturday as he stopped 31-of-35 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Islanders. He will go against the Hurricanes tonight as Greiss has a 2-1-1 record with a 2.46 GAA and a .924 save percentage. Start him if you normally would.
Nov 29 - 9:31 AM

Thomas Greiss made 31 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Islanders on Saturday night.

Starting his first game in just over a week, Greiss was not as his best … and neither was his team. The Penguins were effectively swept in the weekend home-and-home series with New York. Greiss has a 2.46 goals-against average and .924 save percentage this season.

The Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Cody Franson beat Greiss in the third period. Greiss has been a solid backup goaltender behind Marc-Andre Fleury this season. He's now 2-0-1 with a 1.95 goals-against-average and a .938 save percentage.
Nov 14 - 11:13 PM

Nov 14 - 2:15 PM

Penguins backup goaltender Thomas Greiss was solid Tuesday as he blocked 33 of 34 shots en route to a 4-1 victory over the Wild.

Considering how well Minnesota has played this year it was impressive to see the Penguins manhandle them. If the supporting cast can remain dominant, either Greiss or Marc-Andre Fleury will be in line for a number of easy wins. Greiss's record improves to 1-0-1 with the win while his GAA is 2.43 and his save percentage is .943.
Nov 5 - 1:06 AM

Thomas Greiss will start for Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

Greiss is making just his second start of the season. He turned aside 27 of 31 shots in his first opportunity on Oct. 23.
