Thomas Greiss has surrendered at least three goals in six consecutive games.
"Thomas is such an easygoing guy, he’s always, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine, it’s all good.’ But I think it’s something we have to address rather than ignore," Islanders coach Doug Weight said. "We’ve got to help him through it. He’s not dreadful. He’s had some bad luck, some games he’s played well where his numbers weren’t great. Now you pair it with what you’ve seen the last couple weeks, we’ve got to fix it." Jaroslav Halak is probably going to start over Greiss on Thursday, but Greiss' next bounce back opportunity could come on Saturday against Boston. Greiss isn't a star goaltender, but he's capable of doing significantly better than his current 3.79 GAA and .890 save percentage. Dec 7 - 9:29 AM

He has posted an 8-2-2 record with a 3.61 goals-against average and .896 save percentage this season.
Dec 5 - 5:45 PM

Thomas Greiss was pulled after allowing five goals on 20 shots in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Senators.

As ugly as the night was for Greiss, he didn't end up factoring into the decision. Jaroslav Halak, who gave up one goal on 15 shots, was handed the loss. Greiss now owns an 8-2-2 record with a 3.61 goals-against-average and a .896 save percentage this season.

Nov 16 - 6:23 PM

Thomas Greiss appears to have a leg up on Jaroslav Halak right now in the Islanders' goaltender battle.

Greiss was superb in Saturday's 5-2 win over St. Louis and Weight feels that he has had higher highs than Halak. "Thomas in the past two weeks has started to gain momentum," coach Doug Weight said. "It was a real good team we played, with some real dangerous shooters. He was confident and our team was feeding off it. I definitely took note of that." Greiss and Halak will probably continue to share time this season, but you shouldn't be surprised if Greiss gets the nod Thursday versus Carolina.
