Marc-Andre Vlasic played a strong game in his return to action in Game 1.
Vlasic missed 12 games with an MCL sprain but you couldn't notice the difference in his game as it looked like he didn't miss a beat Thursday in the win over the Kings. "I thought he was vintage Vlasic," coach Pete DeBoer said. "Came in, made smart little plays. Just a fantastic game. Managed the puck really well." Vlasic was a plus-two in 23:23 of action. Star defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic confirmed Monday that he will be in the San Jose Sharks' lineup when they open their first-round playoff series Thursday night against the Los Angeles Kings.

Vlasic missed San Jose's final 12 regular-season games because of a knee injury. On Monday, he went all out in the Sharks' practice alongside his regular defense partner, Justin Braun. "I'm looking forward to playing," Vlasic said. "Took the time to heal properly and now I'm ready to go."

Marc-Edouard Vlasic expects to be ready for the playoffs next week.

Vlasic has missed the final dozen games of the regular season due to an MCL sprain, which was unfortunate as he was in the midst of his best career season. Nevertheless, San Jose's top defender will be well-rested come crunch time.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic won't play in Saturday's match with the Coyotes due to a sprained MCL.

Vlasic hasn't played in nearly a month now, a span of 11 games. The veteran posted a career best season through 67 games with eight goals and 39 points, along with 48 PIMs and 129 blocks.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (sprained MCL) is questionable for Saturday's contest with Winnipeg.

Vlasic has been out of action since March 17, which was 11 games ago. He has eight goals and 39 points with a plus-15 rating thus far. "He looks good," coach Peter DeBoer said. "We’ll make some decisions on tomorrow’s lineup, but I know for a fact he’ll be ready for the playoffs, which is good news." Don't forget to draft him in playoff pools if you think the Sharks are going deep into the post-season.
Apr 9 - 10:43 AM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (sprained MCL) has been ruled out for Thursday's game.

Vlasic might be available for Saturday's season finale though. The most important thing is that he's good for the playoffs, but participating in Saturday's contest would allow him to shake off some rust after being sidelined for nearly a month.
Apr 7 - 3:14 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (sprained MCL) skated for the first time on Saturday since he was injured on March 18.

The Sharks are hoping to get Vlasic back in time for the start of the playoffs and if he is able to play in the team's regular season finale next week, that would be even better. The Sharks best all-round blueliner has eight goals and 39 points with a plus-15 rating this season. He has missed the last nine games.
Apr 3 - 8:40 AM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body) isn't skating yet, but the Sharks still hope that he'll be available for their playoff opener.

"That’s the plan. It is. I think if anything he’d like to try and get in before the playoffs if it’s possible, but again, that’s going to be up to the medical team and how Marc-Edouard feels, but I think that’s his goal," Sharks assistant coach Steve Spott said. Vlasic will travel with the Sharks to Nashville for Saturday's game and Minnesota for Tuesday's contest, which is obviously encouraging. At the end of the day, this might work out for Vlasic and the Sharks as he'll be well rested for the postseason.
Mar 31 - 6:37 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body) still hasn't resumed skating.

He won't play Monday night versus Los Angeles. "He's getting closer, improving every day. Again, it's one of those things where we've got some time on our side here," coach Pete DeBoer said. "The important thing is he's ready to go for playoffs." There's no timetable for when Vlasic will return to the ice.
Mar 28 - 4:44 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body) did not skate on Friday.

Vlasic was slated to be out at least another 7-10 days on Tuesday and it could be even longer than that since he has yet to see the ice. He has eight goals and 39 points with a plus-15 rating and has been a fine addition to most fantasy rosters this season.
Mar 26 - 10:38 AM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body) is slated to miss at least another seven to 10 days.

That is the rough estimate that coach Peter DeBoer provided after Vlasic didn't skate on Tuesday morning.
Mar 22 - 2:11 PM

Coach Peter DeBoer has chosen to not make any lineup changes for Sunday's match with Arizona.

Which means that Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Matt Nieto, and Matt Tennyson will each sit out for another game. Vlasic is still recovering for a lower body injury, while Nieto has an upper body injury. They're both considered day-to-day.
Mar 20 - 1:59 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic won't play in Saturday's game against the New York Rangers.

Vlasic left Thursday's game against Arizona after being crushed by Shane Doan. He's considered day-to-day at this point. His absence leaves a huge void on San Jose's defense.
Mar 19 - 3:05 PM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic left Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Coyotes late in the third period with an undisclosed injury.

Even Coach Pete DeBoer shunned giving details noting, "we'll see how they feel tomorrow." Matt Nieto also went down. Vlasic did manage to ding the stat sheet however, fighting Max Domi early in the second period. The veteran defender is now up to 48 PIMs on the season.
Mar 18 - 1:23 AM

Marc-Edouard Vlasic tied his career high in goals and points for a season during Friday's 3-1 loss to Buffalo.

Vlasic, who has just 47 career goals in 727 games, now has 18 over the past two seasons. He's also up to 36 points, also tying a career high. It's tough to imagine how he wouldn't manage to push into the 40-point plateau let alone double-digits goals for the first time before the season is out.
