Roman Polak's leg surgery on Tuesday "went well," per coach Mike Babcock.

Babcock didn't specify how long Polak would need to recover, but he said that the rehab would take "a long time." He was injured in Game 2 when he fell awkwardly following a knee-on-knee hit from Washington's Brooks Orpik. Polak is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Roman Polak will have surgery on his leg Tuesday.

The Leafs may get a better idea of his timetable after the procedure. Polak was injured in Game 2 against Washington when he was hit by Brooks Orpik.

Roman Polak suffered a season-ending lower-body injury in Game 2 on Saturday.

Polak was hurt by a knee-on-knee hit from Washington's Brooks Orpik. It looked like Polak might have suffered a serious injury when he fell awkwardly on his ankle, so it's unfortunately not surprising to hear that he's being shut down. Toronto was already missing Nikita Zaitsev (upper body) and if he can't return for Game 3 then the Leafs' defensive depth will certainly be tested.

Roman Polak (lower body) got back on the ice Wednesday for practice.

He was paired with Jake Gardiner during the session. It looks like Polak will be ready to play on Thursday when the Leafs open the playoffs against Washington.
Apr 12 - 12:24 PM

Roman Polak (lower body) didn't take part in Tuesday's practice.

Polak and Nikita Zaitsev are still possibilities for Thursday's playoff opener. "Both guys are progressing, we're optimistic both guys will be ready, but I can't guarantee anything," coach Mike Babcock said.
Apr 11 - 2:15 PM

Roman Polak sustained a lower-body injury in Sunday's regular-season finale.

He missed the second period and played one shift in the third due to what appeared to be a leg injury. Polak could still be ready to play Thursday in Game 1 versus Washington, but that isn't clear right now. A clearer picture of his status may come Tuesday when the Leafs practice.
Apr 10 - 10:04 AM

Roman Polak was reinstated from his suspension on Tuesday March 28.

Mar 29 - 2:50 AM

Roman Polak was suspended for two games for boarding Oliver Bjorkstrand on Wednesday.

The Department of Player Safety noted that the "onus" was on Polak to "avoid the hit entirely" as Bjorkstran was "not eligible" to be hit. Polak will be eligible to return to action on Tuesday, March 28th. Click the link below for the Department's full video.

Jan 25 - 5:12 PM

Roman Polak will be scratched against the Penguins on Saturday night.

With just two points, 10 PIMs, 21 blocks and 42 hits through 11 games it's easy to see why the veteran defender is off tonight. But it stings if you're in a reverse league.

Roman Polak will fill in for the injured Martin Marincin and make his season debut against the Wild on Thursday night.

Polak has been a monster for tough guy stats over his career, posting nearly two blocks per game, three hits per games and a penalty. Expect him to want to make a big impression on coach Mike Babcock tonight.
