Defenseman Roman Polak will be a healthy scratch when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

The Leafs are 1-4-0 with Polak in the lineup this year as the Czech has struggled in his five starts so far. He is of little to no fantasy value with just one point on the year. Dominic Moore and Josh Leivo will join him as scratches.
Nov 4 - 6:17 PM

Roman Polak, who was a healthy scratch Wednesday in Anaheim, will draw back in Thursday against Los Angeles.

Head coach Mike Babcock confirmed that the veteran rearguard will play, but it's a difficult matchup against the high-octane Kings. Polak has very little fantasy appeal in seasonal pools, and he isn't even worth a look in DFS play as a salary saver at this juncture, either.
Nov 2 - 1:42 AM

Roman Polak will be a healthy scratch in Wednesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Polak had suited up in every game since signing a one-year deal with the Leafs two weeks ago, but he'll watch from the press box tonight. He has no goals and one assist in four games this season. Dominic Moore and Kasperi Kapanen will watch from the press box.

Nov 1 - 10:00 PM

Roman Polak has announced that he will play Monday night against Los Angeles.

Polak signed a one-year deal with the Maple Leafs on Sunday. It is expected that will replace Connor Carrick in the lineup. Polak can record hits, blocks and penalty minutes, but he isn't known for creating offense.
Oct 23 - 10:50 AM

Roman Polak has agreed to a one-year contract worth $1.1 million with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Polak attended training camp with the Leafs on a professional tryout and stayed around the team after he didn't initially land a roster spot. He was injured the playoffs last year and needed surgery on his leg. Polak had 11 points, 65 penalty minutes, 232 hits and 133 blocks in 75 games in 2016-17.
Oct 22 - 5:16 PM

Roman Polak still has not been cleared to play, but he feels no need to rush back from his injury despite being on a professional tryout with the Leafs.

Polak doesn't feel the need to rush back because he believes the Leafs will make a decision on signing him based on his previous play and not what he could or can't do during camp. Earning a spot on the team will likely depend on how the Leafs young defensemen look from now until the start of the season. Regardless, Polak has no fantasy upside.
Sep 23 - 12:05 PM

Roman Polak has not played in an exhibition game so far and will not dress Saturday against Buffalo.

Polak, who is in Maple Leaf camp on a professional tryout basis, has only four more games to crack the lineup. It's looking more and more like he won't earn a roster spot, at least not to start the season.
Sep 23 - 11:45 AM

Roman Polak will attend Toronto's training camp on a professional tryout.

Polak has played with the Maple Leafs for parts of the last three seasons. He had 11 points, 65 penalty minutes, 232 hits and 133 blocks in 75 games last year.
Sep 14 - 10:07 AM

Roman Polak hasn't experienced any setbacks during his recovery from leg surgery.

Polak is an unrestricted free agent and may not get a new contract until closer to the start of training camps. The 31-year-old was injured during the playoffs. Polak had 11 points and 65 penalty minutes in 75 matches with the Leafs last season.
Aug 8 - 4:43 PM

Roman Polak (leg) expects to be ready for the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

He had surgery after he was hurt in Game 2 against Washington. Polak is eligible for unrestricted free agency in July if he doesn't re-sign with the Maple Leafs.
Apr 25 - 4:33 PM

Roman Polak's leg surgery on Tuesday "went well," per coach Mike Babcock.

Babcock didn't specify how long Polak would need to recover, but he said that the rehab would take "a long time." He was injured in Game 2 when he fell awkwardly following a knee-on-knee hit from Washington's Brooks Orpik. Polak is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Apr 19 - 12:06 PM

Roman Polak will have surgery on his leg Tuesday.

The Leafs may get a better idea of his timetable after the procedure. Polak was injured in Game 2 against Washington when he was hit by Brooks Orpik.
Apr 18 - 12:56 PM

Roman Polak suffered a season-ending lower-body injury in Game 2 on Saturday.

Polak was hurt by a knee-on-knee hit from Washington's Brooks Orpik. It looked like Polak might have suffered a serious injury when he fell awkwardly on his ankle, so it's unfortunately not surprising to hear that he's being shut down. Toronto was already missing Nikita Zaitsev (upper body) and if he can't return for Game 3 then the Leafs' defensive depth will certainly be tested.
Apr 16 - 12:10 AM

Roman Polak (lower body) got back on the ice Wednesday for practice.

He was paired with Jake Gardiner during the session. It looks like Polak will be ready to play on Thursday when the Leafs open the playoffs against Washington.
