Roman Polak will be scratched against the Penguins on Saturday night.
With just two points, 10 PIMs, 21 blocks and 42 hits through 11 games it's easy to see why the veteran defender is off tonight. But it stings if you're in a reverse league. Nov 12 - 6:47 PM

Oct 21 - 9:00 AM

Roman Polak will fill in for the injured Martin Marincin and make his season debut against the Wild on Thursday night.

Polak has been a monster for tough guy stats over his career, posting nearly two blocks per game, three hits per games and a penalty. Expect him to want to make a big impression on coach Mike Babcock tonight.
Oct 20 - 7:50 PM

Roman Polak, Frank Corrado and Seth Griffith will each be scratched against the Bruins on Saturday.

A disappointing result for any poolie in a league that rewards hits and blocks. Through 111 career games with Toronto, Polak has produced 445 hits and 230 blocks. That's elite level kind of production.

Roman Polak has agreed to a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Polak had 17 points and 72 penalty minutes in 79 games between Toronto and San Jose last season. He started the campaign with the Maple Leafs, but was dealt to the Sharks in February along with Nick Spaling in exchange for Raffi Torres and a pair of second round picks.

Roman Polak had six hits and six blocked shots in San Jose's 3-0 victory over St. Louis Thursday night.

That brings him up to 48 hits and 33 blocks in the 2016 playoffs. He hasn't scored a point yet, but he is in the top-10 in both of those categories.
May 20 - 10:35 AM

Roman Polak is excited to face his ex-St. Louis teammates in the Western Conference Final.

"I don't find it strange, I find it exciting," he said. "I know a lot of guys on the team so I think it's very exciting to play against them. Especially in the finals, it's even better." Polak will be expected to make a physical impact on the series. He has compiled 38 hits and 25 blocks in 12 playoff games

Roman Polak will suit up for the Sharks on Wednesday against Colorado.

The rugged blueliner will be paired with Brenden Dillon in his first game with San Jose. Polak was sent to the Sharks on Monday, along with Nick Spaling, in exchange for two second-round draft picks and Raffi Torres.
Feb 24 - 2:20 PM

Roman Polak won't be in the lineup for Monday's game against the St. Louis Blues.

Polak was acquired from the Maple Leafs earlier this morning. It was unrealistic to think he'd be ready to play for his new team so soon. Nick Spaling, who was also acquired in the trade, and Barclay Goodrow will also sit.
Feb 22 - 7:52 PM

Roman Polak has been traded to the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks also acquired Nick Spaling in the deal with Toronto getting Raffi Torres as well as second-round draft picks in 2017 and 2018. Polak has amassed 220 hits and 102 blocks in 55 games this season. The rugged defender has also chipped in 13 points and 56 penalty minutes.
Feb 22 - 9:50 AM

Roman Polak dished out 12 hits in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Flyers.

No other player in the game had more than eight. Polak's time in Toronto is probably coming to a close. The 29-year-old has is in the final year of his contract, which means he'll likely be traded to a team that is making a playoff push. "We got a big effort out of Poly," said head coach Mike Babcock. "He competes every night, he cross-checks, he is mean, he is a man, he comes to play every day."

Jan 20 - 9:12 AM

During the closing seconds of the first period on Thursday night, Roman Polak checked Tyler Toffoli from behind and was ejected for it.

The play itself was innocent enough as Polak had squeezed Toffoli off by the half-boards, problem was all Polak got were numbers and helmet. The rugged defender was given a five minute major and a 10 minute game misconduct, ejecting him from the game. He also collected a hit, a block, and a giveaway during his 6:54 of work against the Kings.
