Carl Soderberg fuelled a ferocious Bruins charge in the third period which erased a one-goal deficit and led to a 5-2 win over Edmonton on Thursday night.

With under nine minutes to go in the game and the Bruins trailing 2-1, Soderberg assisted on Loui Eriksson's equalizer and then scored two goals in a span of 1:09 to pull the Bruins up by a pair and secure the victory. Soderberg now has five goals and 13 points in 15 games.

Carl Soderberg seems have recovered from a wrist problem that hampered him from the beginning of the season.

He could not take faceoffs and his shooting may also have been impaired. The good news is that the wrist is much better and Soderberg is back in the faceoff dot on a regular basis. Soderberg is one of the better third-line players in the NHL and is certainly rosterable in deep pools.

The Bruins have been getting exceptional play from their third line so far this season.

Carl Soderberg, Chris Kelly and Loui Eriksson have been very good this season. Both Soderberg and Kelly lead the Bruins in points with five each. As David Krejci and Milan Lucic continue to struggle on the top line, the third line has really been a pleasant surprise.

It cannot be understated: the Bruins' depth is again paying big dividends. The third line that includes Soderberg (goal, two assists), Loui Eriksson (goal, assist) and Matt Fraser (assist) was a handful in this one. The fact coach Claude Julien can roll out four lines that can contribute offensively and is reliable defensively is what all teams aspire to develop, and it makes a difference during the grind of the playoffs. Reilly Smith and Jarome Iginla scored the other goals for Boston, which now leads the second-round series 3-2.

He picked up five shot attempts, including two on net and one that hit the crossbar in the contest. Soderberg skipped the morning skate, but he was expected to play. He's still looking for his first NHL playoff goal, but he was happy to contribute to the victory. Soderberg has three assists in nine games this postseason.

Carl Soderberg won't play Thursday night because he's returned home for the birth of his child.

His wife was slated to give birth at some point this week. Soderberg was able to play Wednesday and he registered his 16th goal of the year. He should be back for Saturday's game versus Philadelphia.
