Jiri Tlusty scored a pair of goals for the Hurricanes in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Rangers on Thursday.

With 23 goals on the campaign, Tlusty has shattered any reasonable projection made for him prior to the season. Tuomo Ruutu also found the back of the net for Carolina in the loss.
Apr 25 - 10:22 PM

Jiri Tlusty scored a pair of goals for the Hurricanes in a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Tlusty is enjoying the best season of his career as his total of 21 goals is a personal best despite the fact he accumulated those stats in only 45 contests. Alexander Semin also registered a goal and an assist in the Carolina victory.
Apr 21 - 9:17 PM

Carolina Hurricanes left winger Jiri Tlusty scored two goals in a 4-2 triumph over the visiting Boston Bruins Saturday night.

Tlusty's goals gave the former Maple Leaf a career-high 19, and the Hurricanes ended a seven-game losing streak. Jeff Skinner (12th) and Joe Corvo (sixth) also notched goals for Carolina. Alexander Semin and Jordan Staal each had two assists.
Apr 13 - 11:29 PM

Jiri Tlusty tallied a hat trick, but it wasn't enough in a 5-3 loss to Washington Tuesday night.

Two of his goals came with the man advantage and he had just three shots in the contest. Tlusty now has 17 markers in 35 games this season. Eric Staal and Alexander Semin had a pair of assist apiece in the match.
Apr 2 - 10:22 PM

Jiri Tlusty recorded his 14th goal of the season in Carolina's 4-1 loss to Winnipeg Tuesday night.

The goal was his first since March 9 and it snapped a four-game pointless drought for the Hurricanes winger. Tlusty ended up with six shots in the contest.
Mar 26 - 10:30 PM

Jiri Tlusty notched three points in Carolina's 6-3 win over the Devils on Saturday night.

Tlusty, who had two goals and an assist, didn't come with the hype of other young players entering the season, but he's performing at an excellent rate. The 24-year-old has 13 goals and eight assists, to go with a plus-15 rating. It's clear he's become a start-with-confidence guy right now. Alexander Semin also had a three-point night, with a goal and two helpers. Jay Harrison, Jeff Skinner and Chris Terry potted the other markers.
Mar 9 - 9:41 PM

Jiri Tlusty potted a pair of goals and added an assist in the Hurricanes' 4-1 win over Pittsburgh Thursday.

Carolina's top line of Tlusty, Eric Staal and Alexander Semin was dominant on this night as Staal picked up a goal and two assists in the game while Semin notched a pair of helpers as the trio was a combined plus-6. Jeff Skinner also scored a goal in his first game back from injury.
Feb 28 - 10:39 PM

Jiri Tlusty registered two goals, but they were not enough as Carolina was upended by the Jets by a score of 4-3 Thursday.

Playing with Alexander Semin and Eric Staal is working wonders for the former Maple Leaf, as he has now recorded a whopping seven goals and two assists in his past six contests. Jordan Staal also found the back of the net in the loss.
Feb 21 - 10:02 PM

Jiri Tlusty is the NHL's third star of the week.

Tlusty had four goals and six points in three contests last week. He got off to a slow start this season, but he's been picking up steam with nine points in his last seven games.

Jiri Tlusty generated two goals as Carolina doubled up New Jersey by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday night.

He scored the go-ahead goal at the 7:25 mark of the third period and added an empty netter to seal the win. Tlusty has been hot of late with five goals and three assists in his past five contests. Playing alongside Eric Staal, who extended his point streak to 10 games with two assists Tuesday, should continue to give his fantasy value a boost. Sophomore defenseman Justin Faulk also recorded two helpers in the contest.
Feb 12 - 9:58 PM

Jiri Tlusty potted two goals and also registered two assists in the Hurricanes' 6-4 win over the Islanders Monday night.

With the monster night Monday, the Czech Republic native now has seven points in 11-games on the season. He could be worth a look in 14-team leagues, if he gets more playing time with Eric Staal and Alexander Semin on a scoring line.
Feb 11 - 11:46 PM

Jiri Tlusty skated with Eric Staal and Alexander Semin at Wednesday's practice.

Two games into the season, Tlusty has been stuck in the Canes' bottom-six forward group, but now it looks like he'll get his chance to play on a scoring line. Drayson Bowman, Zac Dalpe and Zach Boychuk haven't had any success with Staal this campaign, but Tlusty played well with Carolina's captain last year.
Jan 23 - 5:15 PM

Jiri Tlusty will start Saturday's game against Florida on the Hurricanes' third line.

This should be considered a mild disappointment for Tlusty owners after the 24-year-old spent the beginning of the abbreviated training camp on Eric Staal's wing. For the time being, Tlusty will skate alongside Jussi Jokinen and Chad LaRose. That said, we doubt both Zac Dalpe or Zach Boychuk will have long term success on the Canes' top two lines, so Tlusty is bound to move up. Draft him and be patient.
Jan 19 - 9:17 AM

Jiri Tlusty should be in a position to play with Eric Staal again this season.

Carolina coach Kirk Muller's original plan was to try out Eric and Jordan Staal on the same line, but with Tuomo Ruutu (hip) out of action for at least three months he has decided to play them on separate lines. Tlusty played with Staal last season and it helped him rack up career-highs in goals (17), assists (19) and points (36) during his first full year of NHL action. Joining Eric Staal and Alexander Semin on a scoring line would do great things for the fantasy value of Tlusty in 2012-13, but he'll have to earn the role at training camp. The good news for him is that he should be ready after playing in the Czech Extraliga with Kladno during the lockout, where he racked up 12 goals and 23 points in 24 games.
