Jiri Tlusty is out with an upper body injury.

Tlusty partook in the pre-game skate but it was determined that he could not go. The Hurricanes went with only 11 forwards as they dressed an extra blueliner in Jay Harrison. Tlusty is day-to-day and has 10 goals and 13 points in 28 games this season as he has not picked up a point in his last six games.
Dec 14 - 6:28 AM

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jiri Tlusty will not be able to play in Saturday's game because of an undisclosed injury.

The Hurricanes are going with 11 forwards and seven defensemen. Tlusty has 10 goals and 13 points in 28 games this season, registering a -11 rating and six PIM.
Dec 13 - 1:01 PM

Jiri Tlusty scored two goals and an assist in Carolina's 4-2 win over Pittsburgh on Friday night.

Tlusty opened the scoring in the first period, assisted on Patrick Dwyer's second period goal and he added the empty netter to ice the game. The 26-year-old now has 10 goals and 13 points in 22 games this season, but he is a minus-9.
Nov 28 - 9:39 PM

Jiri Tlusty scored Carolina's only goal in their 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday afternoon.

Tlusty opened the scoring at the 7:05 mark of the first period. The 26-year-old had been held pointless in his last six games prior to today. Tlusty has seven goals and nine points in 16 games for Carolina. Justin Faulk and Eric Staal picked up the assists on the goal. The Hurricanes have now lost three of their last four games.
Nov 15 - 3:47 PM

Jiri Tlusty returned to action Friday night against the Blue Jackets.

He sustained a head injury Tuesday but seems to have avoided any long-term problems. Tlusty was minus one in 17:28 of ice time which inlcuded 4:38 on the Canes' second power play. Feel free to activate Tlusty if you need him.
Nov 8 - 2:08 AM

Jiri Tlusty (head) is probable for Friday's game.

Tlusty still needs to undergo some medical tests before his available for the upcoming contest is confirmed. He absorbed a hit to the head on Tuesday, but practiced on the Hurricanes' top line on Friday.
Nov 7 - 12:49 PM

Jiri Tlusty (head) was on the ice Thursday in a no-contact role.

He's going through concussion protocol, but he hasn't been ruled out yet for Friday's game versus Columbus. That decision will come after the morning skate. Tlusty was injured in Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets.
Nov 6 - 4:08 PM

Jiri Tlusty (head) was feeling better on Wednesday, but will need to be evaluated further.

Tlusty left Tuesday's game after he absorbed a high hit from Columbus' Jack Johnson. We would be surprised if Tlusty was put in the lineup on Friday.
Nov 6 - 8:47 AM

Jiri Tlusty suffered an upper-body injury in the third period of Tuesday's game.

Tlusty absorbed a high hit from Columbus' Jack Johnson in the third period and left the game as a result. Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said after the contest that Tlusty felt fine, but in our experience, that doesn't always mean that the player in question will be able to immediately rejoin the lineup. We're penciling Tlusty in as day-to-day for now.
Nov 5 - 10:16 AM

Jiri Tlusty was the only Canes player to get on the board in a 4-1 loss to Vancouver on Tuesday.

Tlusty picked up a rebound in front of the net to beat Miller for his fifth goal of the year. Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner picked up assists on the goal. Tlusty was robbed by Miller on a two-on-one play with Staal earlier in the game as there is some chemistry there for the top forwards for Carolina. Look for him to be a sneaky fantasy option going forward as he has seven points in eight games.
Oct 29 - 2:36 AM

Jiri Tlusty scored the only Carolina goal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Jets.

The Hurricanes offense continues to sputter as the team appears set to challenge for the first overall selection in next year's draft. The return of Jeff Skinner to the lineup Tuesday night did little to strengthen the team, but they can remain hopeful that Eric Staal's expected return in the near future will give the team a shot in the arm.
Oct 21 - 11:27 PM

Jiri Tlusty enjoyed a three-goal game, however the Hurricanes came up short in their 4-3 loss to the Islanders on Saturday night.

Tlusty played 18:50 and had five shots on goal, and the 26-year-old now has four points on the season. There is some scoring ability here, but it’s unlikely to amount to much in fantasy leagues; Tlusty is coming off a 16-goal, 30-point season in 68 games. Alexander Semin, John-Michael Liles and Eric Staal got the assists.
Oct 11 - 11:15 PM

Jiri Tlusty had a goal and an assist in Carolina’s 5-2 loss to Washington on Sunday.

This was the last game of the NHL preseason. Tlusty scored a second period power play goal, and his assist also came on the man-advantage, when he helped set up John-Michael Liles’ goal. Anton Khudobin allowed five goals on 38 shots. The big concern coming out of this game is the severity of Jeff Skinner’s injury. He appeared to suffer a concussion after being hit by Caps’ defenseman Matt Niskanen.
Oct 5 - 5:46 PM

This will be an important season for Jiri Tlusty.

Tlusty signed a one-year, $2.95 million contract over the summer and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent for the first time next season. He broke out in 2013 with 23 goals and 38 points in 48 contests, but ran into injury problems last season and finished with just 30 points in 68 contests. He doesn't have a lengthy history of success as a top-six forward under his belt, so if he struggles again this season, then he's not likely to get a lucrative contract. If he does have a big season though, he should be able to cash in.
