Jiri Tlusty has played for Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice in Toronto and Carolina.

That should give him some instant familiarity with the Jets. He's also good friends with Michael Frolik and Ondrej Pavelec. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff likes that Tlusty can fit nicely on the team's top-three lines. "Jiri has the ability to play with skill players," said Cheveldayoff. "He's seen some time here with the Staal brothers (Eric and Jordan) in the last couple of games and we've had people watching him. He's got the ability to play on the power play, he can score some goals but there's a checking side to Jiri as well that Paul knows well from his time with him."

The conditional pick in the Jiri Tlusty trade changes depending on where Winnipeg finishes the regular season.

It's a 2015 fifth rounder if Jets make the playoffs or a sixth-round selection if they miss the postseason.
Feb 25 - 5:37 PM

Jiri Tlusty has been shipped to Winnipeg for a third-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft and a conditional sixth rounder in 2015.

He has registered 13 goals and 23 points in 52 games with the Carolina Hurricanes this campaign. Winnipeg was looking for some help up front and Mathieu Perreault's injury may have pushed it along.
Feb 25 - 4:07 PM

Jiri Tlusty picked up assists on both Carolina goals Friday.

Tlusty now has 13 goals and 23 points in 50 games this season and has the nice assignment of playing on the top line with Eric and Jordan Staal. Tlusty has three points in his last two games and could be in line for a jump in his points total if he can remain with the Staal brothers.
Feb 21 - 6:47 AM

Jiri Tlusty scored the only Carolina marker in a 4-1 loss to the Islanders on Tuesday night.

Tlusty has tallied 13 times on the season and has an outside shot at 20 goals, but has offered little else to his fantasy owners this year. Both Eric and Jordan Staal picked up assists on the goal.
Feb 17 - 9:47 PM

It sounds like Jiri Tlusty's contract negotiations with the Carolina Hurricanes might have hit a road block.

If that's the case, then it wouldn't be surprising to see Tlusty dealt before the trade deadline. He's not having a great season with 12 goals and 20 points in 42 contests, but a contending team might still see him as a viable secondary scorer capable of bolstering their second or third line.
Feb 13 - 4:26 PM

Jiri Tlusty (upper body) practiced on Thursday.

Coach Bill Peters expects Tlusty to be available to play Friday versus St. Louis, but the Hurricanes winger isn't quite 100 percent yet. He finished Tuesday's game after he went head-first into the boards.
Jan 29 - 2:29 PM

Jiri Tlusty missed Wednesday's practice after going head-first into the boards on Tuesday.

Tlusty stayed in Tuesday's contest, but the fact that he missed the skate is concerning. Hurricanes coach Bill Peters doesn't think Tlusty will end up missing any playing time, but we'll err on the side of caution and list him as day-to-day for now. If Tlusty can't play, Peters might allow Alexander Semin to rejoin the lineup.
Jan 28 - 3:33 PM

Jiri Tlusty pitched in a goal and an assist in Carolina's 5-2 romp over Buffalo on Tuesday night.

Tlusty now has 17 points in 34 games and is a minus-12. He has points in three of his past 12 games. Not the numbers you hope for in a fantasy forward.
Jan 8 - 10:46 PM

Jiri Tlusty recorded an assist in a 2-1 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Tlusty has 10 goals and 15 points in 30 contests in 2014-15. It's worth noting that with Jordan Staal sidelined on Wednesday, Tlusty found himself on a line with Eric Staal and Elias Lindholm during even strength situations. Previously the Staal brothers had been playing with Lindholm.
Jan 1 - 8:49 AM

Jiri Tlusty had an assist on a power play in a 3-1 loss to Montreal on Monday.

Tlusty logged power-play minutes with Eric Staal and the returning Jordan Staal (leg) Monday night and all three of them contributed to the Hurricanes' lone goal. Tlusty now has 10 goals and 14 points in 29 contests in 2014-15.
Tue, Dec 30, 2014 10:04:00 AM

Jiri Tlusty returned to action on Monday December 29.

He sat out seven games due to an upper-body injury. Tlusty earned an assist on a power-play goal by Eric Staal in Carolina's 3-1 loss to Montreal. He also recorded four shots in 14:44 of ice time.

Jiri Tlusty (upper body) is probable for Monday's game against Montreal.

Tlusty has missed seven straight contests because of the injury. He's tentatively projected to play with Chris Terry and Victor Rask, although that might change either before the contest begins or during the flow of the game as Jordan Staal will be something of an X-factor in his season debut.
Mon, Dec 29, 2014 10:31:00 AM

Jiri Tlusty (upper body) skated on Saturday but missed his sixth straight game.

Tlusty is almost ready to go as he has been out of action since December 11. He has 10 goals to lead the Hurricanes this season but has set up only three.
