Winnipeg is still interested in signing Michael Frolik to a contract extension.
However, when he was asked if he was actively trying to sign Frolik, he gave a guarded response. "Yes, I did have a conversation with his agent and I told him where things were at as far as that goes," said GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. "I wasn't looking to use any leverage points or anything like that. Michael is a part of this team and a part of where this has gotten to and Drew Stafford is a part of this organization and going to be a part of where things get to... and Jiri Tlusty and Lee Stempniak. All these acquisitions, potentially UFAs, that's all going to be factored into the question moving forward." Winnipeg didn't try to trade Frolik at the deadline on Monday, which isn't surprising. The team is in the playoff hunt and he's played well this season. Frolik would like to stay, but he's leaving talks to his agent and Cheveldayoff so he can focus on hockey. Mar 3 - 8:50 AM

Michael Frolik had two assists, including one on the power play, in Thursday night's 4-3 shootout loss to Colorado.

No offense to Frolik, but these were two classic NHL-style assists. The chain of possession was broken at least twice on shots for Frolik's first helper on Andrew Ladd's power play goal to go up 1-0. For his second, the puck happened to deflect off his heal, while Frolik was facing his defensive zone, and popped Mathieu Perreault who gave it to Mark Scheifele for the 3-1. Take it for what you will.

Michael Frolik will continue to play on the Jets' top line alongside Andrew Ladd and Bryan Little.

Not a bad place to be. Frolik does have two things working against him, however. One, he's offensively challenged. Two, he has been playing with a mild disclocated thumb. We would stay away notwithstanding his first-line status. By the way, the Jets are icing a second line that looks very much like a first line in Blake Wheeler, Evander Kane and Mark Scheifele. Loser in this alignment is still Dustin Byguglien, who is still stuck on the team's third unit.

Michael Frolik has been playing through a dislocated thumb since Winnipeg's season opener.

"First game in Phoenix, third shift, finger popped out and back," Frolik said. "That was really sore. I had to play with a cast and some shots, too, and the pain. The first few games were not fun. I was really in pain there and didn't really battle hard." He said he's been feeling better lately, which has given coach Paul Maurince confidence to out Frolik back with Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd.

Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice is mixing up his lines, trying to find goals.

The Winnipeg Jets have scored just one goal in their last three games since losing Evander Kane to injury. "Sometimes, the communication and the chemistry is better, sometimes not," said Jets forward Michael Frolik. "But we have not scored many goals so he's trying to mix it up to get something to work." Bryan Little will center the Jets' top line with Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien. Mark Scheifele will play with Blake Wheeler and Mathieu Perreault. The third line is made up of Adam Lowry, T.J. Galiardi and Frolik.

Michael Frolik didn't skate Tuesday, but he's expected to be back on the ice on Wednesday.

The Jets don't play again until Friday when they host Nashville in their home opener.
