Michael Frolik is hoping to get off to a fast start like he did in 2016-17.

Frolik usually starts the season off quite slowly but was amazing last season after starting the season playing in the World Cup. He had nine points in his first 12 games. This season he was the Flame who was in the best shape heading into training camp and hopes it helps him once the season starts. He had 44 points last season with 58 penalty minutes and poolies will be happy with more of the same in 2017-18.

Michael Frolik earned the distinction of being in the best shape out of the Calgary Flames' players.

That's based on the Flames' fitness testing. Flames captain Mark Giordano finished second overall. "I wouldn't go too far with that one," cautioned Flames head coach Glen Gulutzan. "If you look at Gio, his numbers are all up from last year. They're not down. They're up. Fro didn't test last year because of the World Cup. And there's still some debate — some good hockey debate — about the tests because they're all weighted differently. Gio won a lot of the events but didn't win the overall. So the battle rages on." Still, it's a nice way for Frolik to start things off and it's particularly encouraging given that he had wrist surgery over the summer. He had 17 goals and 44 points in 82 games last season.
