One player who has really impressed his coach in the playoffs so far is Patrik Berglund.

Blues bench boss Ken Hitchcock had this to say regarding Berglund: "This is the best he's played since I've coached him. He's got determination in his game that's at another level." Hitchcock went on to say that Berglund had great jump to his game that may be as a result of maturity and the time of year the games are being played. It looks like Berglund has finally found favour in his coach's eyes and a permanent place on the Blues' starting roster.

The Blues knocked the Stars out of the playoffs in Game 7 and Berglund had a great series against them. He picked up three goals and three helpers in the second round of the postseason after he recorded two points Round 1.

The tally was Berglund's first point of the playoffs, and tied the game at two before Jaden Schwartz clinched the 3-2 victory.

It was Berglund's first game of the season after he underwent shoulder surgery in August. He finished Saturday's loss to Toronto with no points, a minus-1 rating, two penalty minutes, two shots on goal and two hits. He played on a line with Magnus Paajarvi and David Backes. "The first 20 minutes was obviously hard," Berglund said, "it was actually harder than I expected. It was really high-paced and I haven’t been able to do a whole lot of that before I got back. After that, I felt more comfortable, so that’s good."

He has not played a game this season due to shoulder surgery and he is bound to be rusty but Berglund will be in the lineup Saturday night and will likely center the Blues' third line alongside David Backes and Magnus Paajarvi. We would hold off on activating him until he gets a few games under his belt.

Patrik Berglund's recovery from shoulder surgery, that has kept him out of action for the entire season to date, is coming quickly now.

He practised with his teammates for the first time this season Tuesday, took the pre-game skate on Thursday and got another full practice in on Friday. Berglund now just needs to be cleared for contact and he will be able to particiapte in practises with no restrictions. He seems to be on track for an early January return barring any setbacks.
