Patrik Berglund started on the top line in Tuesday's loss to Montreal.

He played with David Backes and T.J. Oshie after he was on the fourth line during Saturday's contests against Pittsburgh. Berglund has looked better of late on a line with Paul Stastny and Dmitrij Jaskin, but that hasn't stopped coach Ken Hitchcock from shuffling his combinations.

Patrik Berglund was the only St. Louis goal scorer in Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Stars.

Berglund's goal was just his seventh of the year, as he has taken a backseat to up-and-comers Jaden Schwartz and Vladimir Tarasenko. Paul Stastny drew the lone assist on the goal.

Coach Ken Hitchcock has liked what he's seen from Patrik Berglund despite his struggles on offense.

"I see a guy that's really starting to play a strong role on our hockey club," Hitchcock said. "The scoring is the last part of it that gets taken care of, not the first part. He's got better tempo on his game, he's got more determination, he's got the puck more because he's hanging on to it and skating. I like a lot of the things he's doing right now. I think he's got some real heavy hard play with the puck now. If he continues down this path, it's going to lead to some real good scoring opportunities every night." Berglund earned a goal and an assist on Saturday to double his season point total. He's playing alongside David Backes and T.J. Oshie.
