Michael Grabner is not ruling out a return to the Rangers next season.

Grabner was dealt by New York to New Jersey at the deadline and is a UFA at the end of the season. "I'm open," Grabner told The Post Saturday night. "I haven’t thought about it, but I’m open to anything. I’m trying to play out my season here, try to have the best possibility of my play here the rest of the year, then see what happens after." Grabner has 27 goals and only seven assists this season in 73 games.

Michael Grabner scored a shorthanded goal in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Grabner picked up the loose puck and made a little nifty move to lift the puck over Jonathan Quick for his second goal as a Devil. He started off slow since moving to New Jersey but now has three points in his last two games bringing him to 27 goals and 34 points in 69 games this season. Mile Wood and Nico Hischier also scored in the win.

Michael Grabner hopes his showing on Wednesday is a sign of things to come.

Grabner was held off the scoresheet in his first eight games with New Jersey before chipping in a goal and an assist in an 8-3 win over Vegas. "It’s nice to get one, finally," Grabner said. "Hopefully I can build on that, and carry it over for the next couple of games here." Grabner has 26 goals and 33 points in 68 contests this season, including his tenure with the Rangers prior to the trade. Goals scorers can be fairly streaky, so it wouldn't be too surprising if he was able to build off Wednesday's success.
Mar 16 - 4:38 AM

Michael Grabner posted a goal with an assist and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 8-3 road victory against the Golden Knights.

Grabner was expected to provide the playoff-hopeful Devils with speed and offensive punch, but he was scoreless in his first eight games since being acquired from the New York Rangers. This was a much-needed game for Grabner and his fantasy owners in deeper leagues.
Mar 15 - 2:36 AM

Newly acquired Michael Grabner will play on a line with Pavel Zacha and Kyle Palmieri against the Islanders Saturday night.

The Devils juggled their lines to accommodate Grabner and have moved Jesper Bratt to the top unit alongside Taylor Hall and Nico Hischier. Palmieri seems to be the loser in this arrangement but you never know as sometimes the second unit of a squad has more success than the first as it does not get to play opposite the opposition's top defensive players.
Feb 24 - 11:50 AM

The New York Rangers have traded Michael Grabner to the New Jersey Devils.

The Rangers received defense prospect Igor Rykov and a second-round draft pick in the deal. Grabner was made a healthy scratch in tonight's game against the Canadiens because a trade was imminent, so this move isn't a surprise. The 30-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He has 25 goals and 31 points in 59 games this season. He'll provide the Devils with some added speed and scoring.
Feb 22 - 10:44 PM

Michael Grabner will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against Montreal.

The Rangers are close to trading both Grabner and Rick Nash, so both players will sit tonight so that they can avoid injury. Grabner has 25 goals and 31 points in 59 games this season.
Feb 22 - 7:10 PM

The Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly interested in acquiring Michael Grabner from the New York Rangers.

The Penguins would seem to be a good fit for Grabner given his speed and scoring ability. His $1.65 million annual cap hit is also light enough that the Penguins shouldn't have an issue fitting him in. It might be that the Rangers will be reluctant to trade within their division, but given that the Rangers are now focused on the future, the return is expected to be their biggest concern. So at the end of the day, the big question is likely if the Penguins will be the top bidder for his services or not. If they are then it will be pretty exciting to see which line he ends up on.
Feb 20 - 5:40 AM

Michael Grabner scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Grabner's first-period goal cut New York's deficit to 2-1 at the time, while his second tally made it 5-3. The 30-year-old finished the game with three shots on goal in 15:27 of ice time. The Rangers forward is now up to 25 goals and six assists in 58 games this season. He's picked up five points in his last five games. There have been plenty of rumblings about the Rangers shopping Grabner ahead of the trade deadline, and performances like these will only enhance his value. Former Senator Mika Zibanejad also found the back of the net for the Rangers in the loss.
Feb 17 - 4:52 PM

It's believed that Michael Grabner is among the players that the Rangers are interested in trading.

The Rangers are focused on the future, so they'll be looking to trade off veterans for picks and prospects. Grabner can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, so trading him in particular makes sense. Grabner is a somewhat one-dimensional player, but he does tend to find the back of the net and a regular pace. He had 27 goals last season and is doing even better in 2017-18 with 23 goals in 55 contests. Especially given that his cap hit is just $1.65 million annually, it's not hard to envision contenders going after him.

Feb 13 - 6:31 AM

Michael Grabner scored his seventh empty netter this season Sunday.

Grabner leads the NHL in empty net goals, three ahead of Jason Zucker, Jonathan Marchessault and the injured Jack Eichel. Grabner is up to 23 goals with 22 coming in even strength situations. He is on the trade block as the Rangers appear to be in sell mode and he is finishing a two-year contract. He should fetch a nice package if dealt.
Feb 12 - 7:45 AM

Michael Grabner netted his 21st goal of the season on Tuesday.

Grabner is about as pure a goal scorer as you'll find as his 21 goals is paired with just four assists. To put that number in context, if we look at all the players who have ever scored at least 21 goals, Grabner is tied for the fifth least points. Brandon Pirri (2014-15) and Cy Denneny (1923-24) each had 22 goals and 24 points in a single season while Billy Burch (1925-26) and Odie Cleghorn (1921-22) each had 21 goals and 24 points in a campaign. However, those are the only players with more extreme ratios than Grabner among those with at least 21 goals.

Michael Grabner scored a shorthanded goal in Tuesday's 6-3 setback in Anaheim.

Grabner is tied for fourth in the National Hockey League since the start of the 2010-11 season with 14 shorthanded markers. He has picked up three goals over the past five games to re-emerge as a decent fantasy forward in deeper pools.
Jan 24 - 3:22 AM

Michael Grabner (flu) returned to action on Sunday January 21.

Grabner couldn't play on Saturday due to the illness. He recorded a shot in 13:08 minutes of ice time Sunday.
