Left winger Michael Grabner (concussion) participated in an hourlong practice Friday, and Islanders coach Jack Capuano hinted he could be available for today's home game against the Capitals.

"We'll check with the trainers and doctors and see if he's available to go," Capuano said.

He entered the Olympic break with two goals in his last 14 contests, but he's registered five markers in three matches in Sochi. Grabner has recorded just nine goals in 56 games and he went through a 31-game drought after scoring a pair in the Islanders' regular-season opener. His offensive touch may not carry over once the NHL resumes play, but he could be worth monitoring.

Grabner beat Tuukka Rask twice in the third period as he tapped the first one past the Finnish netminder and wristed his hat trick goal late in the third. The Austrians were even with the Finns for the first 19 minutes of the game as the Finns tied the game at one before Thomas Vanek set up Thomas Hundertpfund to make it 2-1 for Austria.
