Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov picked up the win Monday night as the Avalanche downed the Jets in Winnipeg 4-1.

Varlamov improved his season record to 4-6-1. While he has not played particularly well this season, his Monday effort was not bad. He stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced. He improved his goals-against average to 3.05 and his save percentage to .894. These are un-Varlamov-type numbers but there is a long way to go in the season and, based on his Monday performance, it would not be surprising to see him turn it around.
Nov 23 - 11:45 PM

Semyon Varlamov will be in goal for Monday's game against Winnipeg.

Varlamov has struggled this season, while sporting a 3-6-1 record along with an .890 save percentage and a 3.26 goals-against average. He just recovered from a groin injury and is looking to get back on track. "Varly needs to be the Varly of two years ago," coach Patrick Roy said. "He needs to be our best player."
Nov 23 - 2:02 PM

Semyon Varlamov has been activated from injury reserve.

It's been a trying season for Varlamov, who sports a 3-6-1 record with 31 goals against and a .890 save percentage. One would expect the veteran starter to get his job back, but Reto Berra is 4-6-1 with 23 goals against and a .923 save percentage. Stay tuned, things could get interesting in Denver.
Nov 22 - 12:16 PM

According to the Denver Post, Semyon Varlamov will soon be activated from injured reserve.

Varlamov is expected to get the start in Monday's game against the Winnipeg Jets. The 27-year-old has missed each of the last seven games because of a groin injury.

Semyon Varlamov (groin) was on the ice Friday and took shots.

Varlamov is still on the injured reserve list and it's not clear if he's close to returning. Obviously though the fact that he's facing shots in a practice setting is an encouraging step forward.

Semyon Varlamov (groin) was on the ice for Tuesday's practice.

He skated pain-free during his first session since getting hurt. Varlamov will continue his rehabilitation from a groin injury in Pittsburgh, where the Avalanche will continue their road trip on Thursday night.

Nov 17 - 3:23 PM

The Avalanche have placed Semyon Varlamov on I/R retroactively to November 10th.

This will save the Avs some cash and cap space, while also clearing room for today's waiver claim of Chris Wagner. The 24-year-old forward will only ding the cap at $600K, however. Varlamov hasn't been good this season as his .890 save percentage and 3.26 GAA through 10 games has shown. Perhaps this is ultimately for the best.
Nov 15 - 1:03 PM

Semyon Varlamov is dealing with a groin injury.

Varlamov is day-to-day as a result. He has a 3.26 GAA and .890 save percentage in 10 games this season.
Nov 11 - 5:55 PM

Semyon Varlamov had another stinker, this time allowing three goals and stopping just 24 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Arizona.

Though it'd be fair to chalk up the third goal to plain old bad luck as he was taken out by a teammate, the first two goals were inexcusable. He's allowed 31 goals in 10 starts this season, and he's allowed at least three goals in eight of them. If you haven't already, you may want to find an alternative.
Nov 6 - 1:06 AM

Semyon Varlamov will get the start in Thursday's game against the Arizona Coyotes.

The 27-year-old is coming off a win against Calgary on Tuesday, but his season hasn't gone according to plan thus far. Varlamov has a 3-5-1 record with a 3.29 goals-against-average and a .890 save percentage this season.
Nov 5 - 6:39 PM

Semyon Varlamov allowed three goals on 25 shots in a 6-3 win over Calgary on Tuesday.

Varlamov didn't have to be perfect with the offense picking him up in this game. The 27 year-old has allowed exactly three goals in three straight games now. He's 3-5-1 with a very mediocre 3.29 goals-against-average to go with a below average .890 save percentage in nine appearances. He is the number one goalie in Colorado but sure hasn't played to his hype yet this season.
Nov 4 - 2:20 AM

Semyon Varlamov allowed three goals on 31 shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to San Jose.

With the game tied 2-2 in the final two minutes of the game, Brent Burns beat Varlamov to give San Jose the lead. The Avs opted to pull Varlamov and Joe Pavelski scored into the empty net. Colorado was able to get one goal back but it was too late. Varlamov's record falls to 2-5-1 on the season. He has a 3.33 GAA to go along with a .891 save percentage in 2015-16.
Nov 1 - 6:02 PM

Semyon Varlamov will get the start in Sunday's game against San Jose.

Varlamov is coming off a loss to the Hurricanes on Friday. He has a 2-4-0 record with a 3.36 goals-against-average and a .889 save percentage this season.
Nov 1 - 2:44 PM

Semyon Varlamov allowed three goals on 26 shots in Friday's 3-2 loss to Carolina.

Varlamov's tough season continued on Friday night. His team scored the first goal of the game, but Carolina responded with three unanswered goals in the second and third period. Varlamov now has a 2-4-1 record on the season with a 3.37 goals-against-average and a .889 save percentage.
