Dec 5 - 4:44 PM

Semyon Varlamov gave the Colorado Avalanche a chance to win, but the Dallas Stars ended up prevailing 3-0 on Saturday.

Varlamov gave up two goals on 32 SOG, with the final tally being an ENG. The Avalanche just couldn't get much going against the Stars, and now Varlamov is on a three-game losing streak and only has one win in his last five games.
Dec 3 - 11:59 PM

The Avalanche will play Semyon Varlamov in net against the Stars on Saturday.

In two games this season versus Dallas, Varlamov has allowed eight goals on 50 shots and has split his two decisions. That doesn't spell much confidence, especially given how much Colorado has struggled this season.
Dec 2 - 7:24 PM

Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves on 37 shots in a 3-2 loss to Colorado on Thursday.

He was busy all night as the Avalanche were outshot 37-20. It's becoming the new norm for the Avalanche, as Varlamov has seen 34-35-40 shots in his last three starts. It could be a long season for Varlamov and the Avalanche. He has a 5-10 record with an ugly 3.09 GAA and .905 save percentage in 15 appearances. The Avalanche get the Dallas next to end a five game home stand.
Dec 2 - 1:26 AM

Semyon Varlamov will start Thursday's game against Columbus.

He made 40 stops in a 3-2 overtime win over the Blue Jackets on Nov. 21 prior to allowing five goals on 40 shots to Edmonton in his last appearance. It's been that kind of a season for Varlamov, who has been inconsistent between the pipes. He missed last Saturday's game due to a wrist injury and this will be his first game action since his return.

Dec 1 - 9:09 AM

Semyon Varlamov (wrist) is available for Tuesday's contest.

Varlamov won't get the nod on Tuesday anyways, but he should be on the bench. He has a 3.08 GAA and .904 save percentage in 13 contests in 2016-17.
Nov 28 - 4:50 PM

Semyon Varlamov (wrist) has declared himself "ready to go" following Sunday's practice.

Colorado's primary netminder has missed just one game with the ailment, and the Avalanche appear confident he is indeed ready to play as they returned Spencer Martin back to the AHL. Look for Varlamov to take the net Tuesday night against the Predators.
Nov 27 - 7:44 PM

Semyon Varlamov has been sidelined with an upper body injury, and will not play in Saturday's match against the Canucks.

Tough break for Varlamov and the Avalanche, though perhaps the veteran netminder could use the break. He just faced 40 shots from Edmonton in a rough defeat, he also leads the league in losses with nine and has seen his save percentage slip to .904. Hopefully the ailment is minor. Consider Varlamov day-to-day and Calvin Pickard the starter, for now.
Nov 25 - 3:51 PM

Semyon Varlamov faced 40 shots on goal Wednesday night as the Colorado Avalanche lost a 6-3 contest to the Edmonton Oilers.

Varlamov gave up two goals in the first on 17 shots and then turned away nine of 10 in the second. By the time the third rolled around, he lost his mojo and gave up three goals on only 13 shots. One more puck found the back of an empty net. Varlamov has now alternated wins and losses in the past seven contests and his save percentage has been on the same kind of rollercoaster. It is difficult to recommend him as a place-and-hold player.
Nov 24 - 1:41 AM

Semyon Varlamov will get the call for Colorado on Wednesday against Edmonton.

He turned aside 40 shots in a 3-2 overtime win over Columbus on Monday night. It's been an inconsistent start to the season for Varlamov, who has a .907 save percentage and a 2.92 GAA in 13 appearances.
Nov 22 - 1:28 PM

Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov made 40 saves in regulation and overtime Monday night to help the Avalanche emerge with a 3-2 triumph over the Blue Jackets in Columbus.

Varlamov is now 5-8-0 on the season. His goals-against average is 2.92 and his save percentage is .907. This win was his third in his past 10 games.
Nov 21 - 11:17 PM

Semyon Varlamov will get the start in Monday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Things haven't gone well for the Avs goalie of late. He just four wins this season and he's been victorious in two of his last nine contests. He'll enter tonight's game with a 3.01 goals-against-average and a .901 save percentage.

Nov 21 - 6:11 PM

Semyon Varlamov allowed three goals on 22 shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Dallas.

The first period was a nightmare for the Avs and Varlamov, as he allowed three goals on six shots in that frame. He settled down nicely the rest of the way by keeping the Stars off the board. Varlamov has a 4-8-0 record with a 3.01 goals-against-average and a .901 save percentage. He isn't a must-start in standard fantasy leagues.
Nov 18 - 12:02 AM

Semyon Varlamov will start Thursday's game against Dallas.

It will be his fourth straight appearance in the Avalanche goal. Varlamov has two wins in his previous three outings and he has allowed just four goals. However, he still has plenty of work to do to erase a 4-7-0 record along with a 3.01 GAA and a .904 save percentage.
