Semyon Varlamov did the best he could, but he was unable to prevent a 4-3 overtime loss at the hands of the league-leading Nashville Predators Tuesday.
Varlamov allowed four goals on 39 shots in the loss, but he played well enough to win. His 12-10-7 record looks worse it should, as his 2.70 GAA and .920 save percentage are a better measure of the way he has played this season. Jan 28 - 1:17 AM

Semyon Varlamov made 22 saves in Colorado's 3-2 SO win over Boston on Wednesday night.

Varlamov wasn't overly busy in this game but made some key saves to keep his team in the game as they were playing from behind for most of the night. The win was his 12th of the season and he heads the All-Star break on a positive note. He carries a respectable 2.66 GAA and .921 save percentage into what fantasy owners hope will be a good second half into the playoffs.

Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov played well Monday night but took the loss in a 3-1 outcome in St. Louis.

Varlamov made 27 saves against the Blues but his teammates could muster only 18 shots at St. Louis opponent Brian Elliott and pick up only an unassisted goal from Matt Duchene. Varlamov now has a goals-against average of 2.69 and a save percentage of .921. Varlamov is playing for a so-so Colorado squad this year but he's been coming on and he should have a strong second half. If he's available in your fantasy league, and you need some improvement at the goalie position, consider him more than just a trifle.

Jan 12 - 12:19 PM

Semyon Varlamov continues to show flashes of his 2013-14 form as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Dallas Stars 4-3 on Saturday.

He stopped 37 out of 40 shots for his third consecutive win. He's faced 54, 38 and 40 shots during this three-game winning streak, so he's really showing the form that slipped Colorado into a playoff spot last season. He'll probably need to be that good for Colorado to charge back again, too.
Jan 10 - 7:06 PM

Look for Semyon Varlamov to get the start Saturday afternoon against Dallas.

The guy has been unbelievable this week stopping 90 of 92 shots in two games, both wins. Make sure Varlamov is active early as the game starts at 3:00 EST!.
Jan 10 - 12:37 PM

Colorado coach Patrick Roy is thrilled to see Semyon Varlamov playing like he did during the 2013-14 campaign, but he isn't as pleased with his players' work defensively.

"The last two games, I'll admit it, we don't play well enough defensively," said Roy. "As much as we played well before that, now in the last couple of games, I think we could play a lot better. ... But I'm not going to complain here. We're winning hockey games. I think that's what we want, and Varly was our best player again. Varly is bringing a lot of confidence to the team." He made 36 stops in a 5-2 win over Ottawa on Thursday and he stopped all 54 shots he faced in a 2-0 victory against Chicago on Tuesday.
