Semyon Varlamov turned away 30 shots on Thursday night, however his Avalanche were shutout 3-0 by the Ducks.

Varlamov looked good in net, but the defense in front of him continues to be porous. At least in the short term this should be expected to continue, but don't be surprised if the Avs turn it around over the course of the season. Young, talented teams have a funny way of doing just that.

Varlamov was very busy in this game and showed us why he was in the running for the Vezina trophy last year.
