The Columbus Blue Jackets are naturally taking blowing their 2-0 series lead pretty hard.
Columbus appeared to be set to win the first series of its franchise's history, but instead the Washington Capitals won four straight contests to dismiss the Blue Jackets. "This is a kick in the teeth," said captain Nick Foligno. "No one feels good in here. We had a 2-0 (series) lead and didn’t win. That doesn’t happen." This was the Blue Jackets' fourth playoff series and the second in as many years. There's a lot of promise on this team and although they came up short this time around, they should be competitive again in 2018-19. Apr 24 - 4:47 AM

Nick Foligno scored a couple of goals in Monday's 6-3 Game 6 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Foligno got the Blue Jackets on the board midway through the second period with a wrister to beat Braden Holtby. Columbus' captain then followed that up with another midway through the final frame to give the Blue Jackets some hope but they were never able to find the back of the net again. It's a tough series loss for Columbus who jumped out to a 2-0 series lead only to lose four straight to Braden Holtby and the Capitals. The Blue Jackets will finish another post-season without winning a playoff round.
Apr 23 - 10:32 PM

Nick Foligno will skate between Josh Anderson and Matt Calvert in Game 5 on Saturday.

Alexander Wennberg will play with Thomas Vanek and Boone Jenner in his return to the lineup, so Foligno will move down a spot on the depth chart.
Apr 21 - 2:55 PM

Nick Foligno, who has subbed in for the injured Alexander Wennberg on the Jackets' second line with Thomas Vanek and Boone Jenner, will likely shift to another line if Wennberg can suit up for Game 5 Saturday afternoon.

Foligno would likely skate alongside Josh Anderson and either Matt Calvert or Oliver Bjorkstrand on the team's third line. That would allow Mark Letestu and Brandon Dubinsky to skate on the Jackets' fourth unit.
Apr 21 - 10:26 AM

Nick Foligno will play between Thomas Vanek and Boone Jenner in Game 2 Sunday.

Foligno will take over from the injured Alex Wennberg who suffered a head injury in the third period of Game 1. The Wennberg line had been going gangbusters for the Blue Jackets since the trio were put together in the last quarter of the season but Foligno will try to keep things going as the Blue Jackets are up 1-0 in the series. He is worth looking at in playoff pools at this time.
Apr 15 - 7:41 AM

Nick Foligno (lower body) will play in Game 1 against Washington on Thursday night.

Coach John Tortorella said that Foligno will be back at center, but he wasn't on the top line during Monday's practice. He skated between Oliver Bjorkstrand and Josh Anderson. Foligno missed the last six games of the year because of a lower-body injury.
Apr 9 - 12:18 PM

Nick Foligno (lower body) is expected to be sidelined for two to four weeks.

Foligno was apparently injured late in Saturday's game against St. Louis. He logged 21:59 of ice time in the match. Foligno had been playing on the top line of the Blue Jackets recently. He has 15 goals and 33 points in 72 games this year.
Mar 26 - 10:22 AM

Nick Foligno had two assists Tuesday to give him 400 career points in the NHL.

Foligno is not having a good offensive season with only 15 goals and 38 points but it was nice to see him hit the milestone in his 766th career game. He has 48 penalty minutes as well as a zero rating in plus/minus so he does have some value in deep leagues at this time.

Mar 21 - 8:07 AM

Nick Foligno (lower body) was activated from the IL on Thursday March 1.

Foligno missed four consecutive games. He had a minus-three rating in 15:44 minutes of ice time in Columbus' 5-2 loss to Los Angeles Thursday night.
Mar 2 - 3:04 AM

Nick Foligno (lower body) has been moved to the injured reserve list.

Foligno is expected to miss a week or two, so his move to the IR makes sense. It also corresponds with the Blue Jackets claiming Taylor Chorney off waivers.

Feb 21 - 1:16 PM

Nick Foligno (lower body) is expected to miss one-to-two weeks.

Foligno didn't finish Sunday's game against Pittsburgh due to the ailment. He has 13 goals and 26 points in 59 appearances this campaign.
Feb 19 - 12:07 PM

Nick Foligno was unable to finish Sunday's game against Pittsburgh as he suffered a lower body injury.

Foligno, according to teammate Cam Atkinson, had a skate go through his sock. That's not good but hopefully it is only superficial. He has only 13 goals and 26 points this season so his absence from the lineup should not hurt you as he should not have been in your lineup to begin with in all but the deepest of leagues. Consider Foligno day-to-day.
Feb 19 - 7:11 AM

Nick Foligno picked up two goals and one assist in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Foligno's first goal cut his team's deficit to 2-1 late in the first period, while his second tally tied the game early in the second frame. He also registered the primary assist on Jack Johnson's goal later on in the middle frame. Foligno finished the game with a plus-2 rating, four penalty minutes and three shots on goal in 16:36 of ice time. He has 13 goals and 13 assists in 57 games this season. He's now scored three goals in his last three contests.
Feb 14 - 10:13 PM

Nick Foligno scored his 10th goal of the season Saturday.

The goal came after Foligno was benched for part of Friday's game against San Jose. "Just move forward," Foligno said before Saturday's contest as coach John Tortorella said that Foligno deserved to be benched. "I’m over talking about that, and just getting ready for tonight’s game. I know what I can bring, and I’ve just got to make sure I do it." Foligno has only 22 points in 52 games so it's tough to keep him in your fantasy lineup in traditional pools.
Feb 4 - 8:01 AM

Nick Foligno picked up a pair of assists with four hits over 19:01 of ice time in Tuesday's 6-3 road loss against the Golden Knights.

After a 14-game stretch from Dec. 8 to Jan. 4 with just one goal and one assist Foligno is starting to heat up. He has two goals and six points over his past six outings. At a point-per-game clip he has some short-term fantasy appeal across the board. He's also a very nice mid-tier play in DFS heading into the team's next assignment Thursday in Arizona.
