Nick Foligno and the Blue Jackets were shut out through three periods and overtime, but managed to earn a 1-0 shootout victory over Detroit Tuesday.
Foligno entered the contest with points in three straight games, but was held without a point despite leading the club with five shots on goal in the victory. There's no good reason to expect significant regression anytime soon. Dec 16 - 10:43 PM

Nick Foligno scored his 14th goal of the season during Saturday's win over Pittsburgh.

Foligno's career-high is 18 goals, which he reached last season. The 27-year-old has been a pleasant surprise for Columbus. He is currently on pace to surpass the 40-goal mark, and no one expected him to be hovering around a point-per-game pace this deep into the season. Foligno has 27 points in 28 games.
Dec 14 - 11:57 AM

Nick Foligno scored two goals for the Jackets on Thursday night, the latter of which lifted Columbus to a 4-3 overtime win over Washington.

Foligno's game winner came with just 17 seconds left in overtime on the power play. The 27-year-old is on pace for career highs this season in points, which total 26 in the first 27 games of the season. The number to beat is 47 points, which he notched as a Senator in 2011-12.
Dec 11 - 11:08 PM

Nick Foligno played center on Saturday for the Blue Jackets.

Normally a winger, Foligno was in the middle as the Blue Jackets are hurting down the middle with Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov on the shelf. "There have been a lot of times the last three seasons where Nicky has ended up down low in coverage playing the wing, and he’s comfortable down there," coach Todd Richards said. "We need that depth down the middle. He gives us three guys — not that they’re natural NHL centers — but they’ve played that position, and they have experience playing in the NHL." Foligno is having a big season in the NHL with 11 goals and 23 points in 25 games.
Dec 7 - 7:05 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets have opened contract negotiations with Nick Foligno's agent.

Foligno is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer after completing his current three-year, $9.25 million contract. "I'm happy that they're talking," said Foligno. "Hopefully they can get something done in a timely manner." It will be interesting to see what kind of contract he ends up getting. He only had 39 points last season, but has taken a big step up in 2014-15 with 10 goals and 22 points in 23 contests.
Dec 3 - 4:04 PM

Nick Foligno notched another goal and an assist in Friday night's 5-4 shootout loss to the Bruins.

Foligno now has ten goals and 20 points on the season, but perhaps much more astounding is that he's shooting at a 24.4 percent rate. It may not be sustainable, but Columbus needs every ounce of his hot streak if they're going to right the ship.
Nov 21 - 11:16 PM

Nick Foligno and the Blue Jackets suffered a 5-0 shutout at the hands of the Red Wings on Tuesday night, but the winger managed to turn in a decent fantasy performance nonetheless.

The high-flying Foligno is enjoying his best ever NHL season and he continued it on this night by registering five penalty minutes and was one of the few Columbus players to avoid a negative rating in the loss.
Nov 18 - 11:56 PM

Nick Foligno scored twice and added an assist on Friday in the Blue Jackets 4-3 win over the Flyers.

Foligno is off to a great start with nine goals and 18 points in 15 games to go with a plus-three rating. He also has 11 penalty minutes and has scored five on the power play. Take him if he is available in your pool.
Nov 15 - 6:27 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets held a players' only meeting after their 7-4 loss to Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Columbus are now winless in their last eight games (0-7-1). "It’s time to start doing," Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno said. "You can talk and talk and talk, but if you’re not going to go out there and do it the right way, words are nothing. It’s really disappointing because we’re a better team than we’re showing. For whatever reason we’re not showing it enough. We’re reacting to everything. We’re not the team that’s initiating, and it’s costing us games. Right now, it’s costing us almost the season."
Nov 9 - 10:55 AM

Columbus forward Nick Foligno scored both goals for the Blue Jackets in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Carolina.

Foligno was the sole source of offense for Columbus in this game and has been one of their best players throughout the season. With much of the roster sidelined by injury, Foligno has teamed up with center Ryan Johansen and has amassed 13 points in 11 outings thus far.
Nov 4 - 11:27 PM

Nick Foligno played center on Saturday for the first time as a member of the Blue Jackets.

Foligno offered to move from the wing as the Blue Jackets have been decimated at center with three of four regulars out. He did not disappoint and led the Blue Jackets with a goal and an assist in the win over New Jersey.
Nov 3 - 6:18 AM

Nick Foligno recorded a goal and an assist in Columbus’ 3-2 loss to the Devils on Satturdy night.

Foligno also had two penalty minutes. There’s a whole lot of lineup shuffling going on in Columbus right now with so many important pieces injured, and Foligno is one player expected to pick up the slack. He has four goals and 11 points this season. Jack Skille got the other marker, while Brian Gibbons assisted twice.
Nov 1 - 11:41 PM

Nick Foligno (upper body) is expected to return Friday.

Foligno suffered a scary collision on Sunday when he went head first into a linesman after being pushed into the boards by Jeff Carter. He missed Tuesday's game as a result.
Oct 31 - 12:21 PM

Nick Foligno (upper body) was able to fully participate in Thursday's practice.

Foligno might be able to make his return on Friday. If he does, he'll probably play on the second line with Alexander Wennberg and Jack Skille.
Oct 31 - 10:45 AM

Nick Foligno said he was diagnosed with a "stinger" after colliding with NHL linesman Shane Heyer on Sunday.

"I was looking down at the puck, trying to kick it into the zone," Foligno said. "That's why he caught me off guard so fast. It wasn't a dangerous play. The linesman sort of turned into a turnbuckle, and my head was the thing that hit it." He is hoping to be cleared to play as early as Tuesday's game against Ottawa. Foligno still feels a little stiff, but his head feels good.
