Captain Nick Foligno is too sick to play in Friday's match with the Red Wings.
Being sick sucks, and you know it has to be bad for Foligno to miss a game. He's posted 10 goals and 22 points in 24 games along with 15 blocks, 22 PIMs, and 36 hits. He's considered day-to-day. Dec 9 - 6:59 PM

Nick Foligno is back to having a great season and his reuniting with Brandon Saad is a major reason why.

Foligno had an outstanding 2014-15 season with 73 points but slumped terribly last season with only 12 goals and 37 points as he and Saad were rarely together. He has played most of the season with Saad and Alexander Wennberg and the trio have been sensational with Foligno scoring eight goals and 19 points in 20 games. "Me and Saader have joked about it," Foligno said. "Now that we’re back together, we want to make sure we keep working to have success." Foligno is back to his 2014-15 pace and is a must start in all formats of fantasy hockey.

Captain Nick Foligno led the Blue Jackets' comeback 3-2 win over the Capitals on Sunday.

Foligno got his team on the board with a power play goal, and would later assist on Alex Wennberg's power play winner. Mark that seven goals and 18 points in 16 games for him, with nine points on the power play as well.
Nov 20 - 3:25 PM

Nick Foligno has gotten off to a phenomenal start this season.

Foligno took a giant leap forward in 2014-15 when he recorded 73 points, but he followed that up with a 37-point campaign. Given his history, it seemed fair to wonder if that 73-point season would go down as an outlier. It won't if he keeps playing like this though as he already has six goals and 16 points in 13 games this season. "When I step on the ice, I feel like I’m playing at a level that I expect everyone to get to," Foligno said. "That’s where I failed last year. I’ll use the word — failed — because I think I did. And that’s something I didn’t want to have happen again."
Nov 15 - 10:29 AM

Nick Foligno found the back of the net in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Boston Bruins.

Foligno opened the scoring at the 2:29 mark of the first period, but Columbus watched as Boston scored five unanswered goals. The 29-year-old's produced at a decent clip this season, as he's picked up eight points in his last six games. Foligno has five goals and 13 points in 12 games in 2016-17. Sam Gagner scored Columbus' other goal.
Nov 10 - 10:07 PM

Nick Foligno scored two goals and one assist in Friday's 10-0 (yes, 10-0) win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Well this was an unexpected offensive outburst from the Jackets. Columbus scored three goals in the first period, five in the second and two more in the third period. Four of the 10 goals were scored on the man-advantage. Josh Anderson (twice), Cam Atkinson (twice), Scott Hartnell (twice), Seth Jones and David Savard also scored for Columbus. They've now won each of their last three games.
Nov 4 - 10:29 PM

Nick Foligno collected three assists in Friday's 4-0 win against Anaheim.

He had the primary helper on two goals by Brandon Saad and a power-play marker by Sam Gagner during a four-goal first period by the Blue Jackets. Foligno has one goal and seven assists in seven contests this season.

Nick and Janelle Foligno have donated $1 million in total to Boston Children’s Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

Each hospital got an equal donation of $500,000. The Folignos have a three-year-old daughter that was born with a congenital heart defect. She had surgery at three-and-a-half weeks old in Boston because the procedure wasn't available in Columbus, but now it is. "It feels like Milana’s first surgery was 100 years ago, and it feels like yesterday," Nick Foligno said. "You see her running around today … we couldn’t be more proud of her, and we want to do as much as we can to make sure everybody, every family, has a happy ending. We’re not the only family affected by this. Not by a long shot. But Columbus is our home, the people here have been so great to us, and we want to make a difference in our community."
Oct 12 - 9:10 AM

Nick Foligno will start the season on a line with Sam Gagner and Brandon Saad.

Last season was a season to forget for Foligno who had just 12 goals and 37 points after a 31 goal and 73 point effort the previous season. But he is looking to make amends this season and lost seven pounds in the off-season. "I’m getting back to the player I used to be — fast, gritty and physical," Foligno said. "If I play that game, everything else will fall in place. The team will see success, and that’s all I care about." Look for a 45-50 point campaign from the Blue Jackets captain and draft him late in most deeper pools.
Oct 9 - 7:33 AM

Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen is "listening on captain Nick Foligno," according to the Ottawa Sun’s Bruce Garrioch.

The GM could be busy this offseason as he tries to shed salary — with Scott Hartnell and Fedor Tyutin also in play. Foligno is an interesting case as he just played his first season on a six-year, $33 million contract. Though, he did not live up to his 2014-15 campaign (a career year) when he tallied 31 goals and 73 points; he had just 12 goals and 37 points this past season.

Nick Foligno is will be on Team USA during this summer's IIHF World Hockey Championship in Moscow, Russia.

"The first time I went, I realized how awesome it was to put on that sweater, play on the stage and see how competitive it is." Foligno told Aaron Portzline. "It's nice just to continue your season, but I sure don't want to get used to having our (NHL) seasons end in April." With one game remaining in the NHL season, the Blue Jackets' captain has 12 goals and 37 points in 71 games this season.
Apr 8 - 10:28 PM

Nick Foligno scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

Foligno gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead at the 15:16 mark of the second period. Boone Jenner and Josh Anderson picked up the assists on the winning goal. Foligno now has 12 goals and 37 points in 71 games this season. Brandon Saad, Matt Calvert and Dalton Prout also scored for the Jackets.
Apr 8 - 10:04 PM

Forward Nick Foligno scored both of the Blue Jackets' goals in a 4-2 loss Monday night to the visiting New York Rangers.

Foligno's points were his first in his past 12 games. His goals were his 10th and 11th of the season. It has been a rough season for Foligno and the Jackets.
Apr 4 - 11:03 PM

Nick Foligno is having a tough time this season.

Foligno was an All-Star last season with 31 goals and 73 points but he has been going in reverse in 2015-16 as he has only nine goals and 34 points in 67 games with a minus-16 rating. He has not had a point in his last 11 games. "There are a lot of things about my game this season that have just … fooled me," Foligno said. "I’ve gone through every emotion possible. Anger. Frustration. Disappointment. I’m trying to be a good leader for this team and find my way through it. I know it’s not going to last. I know I’ll be a better player for it and come out on the other side." Look for an improvement to 50-55 points next season and draft him accordingly.
Apr 2 - 8:20 AM

Nick Foligno was minus-three on Monday, dropping to minus-16 this season.

Foligno also extended his point drought to 10 games. There's still a little time left for him to bounce back, but right now it looks like he's limping to the finish line. In a way that's appropriate given the overall storyline of this season for Foligno. He was coming off of a breakout 73-point campaign and he ended up going back to square one in 2015-16 with nine goals and 34 points in 66 contests.
