Although long-time Devils goaltending coach Chris Terreri didn't know John Hynes before he became New Jersey's bench boss, the two have an interesting connection.
Terreri and Hynes are both from Warwick, R.I. and both were coached by Mike Gaffney during their high school days. What makes that connection less probable is the fact that they were coached by Gaffney a decade apart and worked under him in different schools. "I never crossed paths with him, but it is interesting we had the same coach," Terreri said. "He mentioned that we both had Coach Gaffney. It was funny. Good man, good hockey man. He certainly helped shape my hockey career to a big extent and I'm sure he did the same for John." Terreri is the only Devils coach that's returning from the 2014-15 staff. Chris Terreri was the emergency goalie for the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

The Devils Keith Kinkaid was injured in the second period and Cory Schneider finished the game but if Schneider had been injured, then Terreri, who last played in the NHL in 2001, would have strapped on the pads and played. Fortunately it didn't happen and 50-year-old Terreri could just enjoy the rest of the game.
