Mikhail Grabovski admitted, in an published interview Monday, that he bit Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty back on Feb. 9.
"He was choking me and I bit him," Grabovski told Yahoo!'s Dmitry Chesnokov. "Don't stick your hands where you shouldn't. To be honest with you he was choking me pretty hard, to the point where I really couldn't breathe. And I couldn't pull his hand away at all. I tried to hit him with my other hand, but I couldn't because he was choking me. There was nothing left to do but bite him." The NHL investigated the incident but no suspension was given because they couldn't prove that a bite occurred, but it doesn't matter now. May 21 - 8:15 AM

Mikhail Grabovski represents an interesting situation for the Maple Leafs this off-season.

Toronto may want to re-sign potential unrestricted free agent Tyler Bozak and lock up restricted free agent Nazem Kadri to a long-term deal. To free up some cap space, Grabovski's $5.5 million cap hit could be moved. If the Leafs decide to go down that route then GM Dave Nonis will probably seek a trade partner first and if that's doesn't work out then he could use a "compliance" buyout. Of course all of this is pure speculation right now. Grabovski had a tough regular season before showing some improved play in the postseason. However, as a whole points were hard to come by for him.

One of the more surprising turn of events in the Maple Leafs-Bruins series is the play of Mikhail Grabovski.

He had a terrible regular season and was not expected to play much in the playoffs but he has been nothing short of a revelation. Grabo has been skating like the wind setting up his teammates while taking a terrible beating from the Bruins' Zdeno Chara, Johnny Boychuk and Milan Lucic who have delivered bone-crushing checks to the Belarusian. His pass to himself over the Bruins' net in Game 5 is worth a look. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/blog/eye-on-hockey/22226334/video-mikhail-grabovskis-dazzling-attempt-on-tuukka-rask
May 11 - 1:24 PM

Mikhail Grabovski might start Game 1 as Toronto's second-line center.

Early indications suggest he will play between Joffrey Lupul and Nikolai Kulemin, while Nazem Kadri will be flanked by Clarke MacArthur and Matt Frattin to give him easier match-ups. Grabovski didn't have a good showing in the regular season, with nine goals and 16 points in 48 games, but he has a fresh canvas to work with in the playoffs.
May 1 - 11:46 AM

Mikhail Grabovski had Toronto's only goal in a 5-1 loss to Washington Tuesday night.

He scored early in the third period from Ryan Hamilton and Leo Komarov. The goal snapped a 10-game goalless skid for Grabovski. He has nine markers and just 16 points in 43 games.
Apr 16 - 10:08 PM

Mikhail Grabovski (stomach) was cleared to play after undergoing a battery of gastrointestinal tests in New York Thursday and Friday.

The tests didn't show anything that would prevent Grabovski from playing. We are not sure if Grabovski will play against Montreal Saturday night, although he always plays well against the Habs. If he doesn't suit up, look for Joe Colborne to get a chance to play.

Apr 13 - 1:06 PM

Mikhail Grabovski stayed behind in New York to see doctors for a longstanding gastrointestinal issue, according to coach Randy Carlyle.

Carlyle said the illness has been causing Grabovski to lose weight recently, which might help explain Grabovski struggles this season. Hopefully we'll know the results of Grabovski's tests soon, but we're sidelining him for now and considering him very questionable to play Saturday against the Canadiens.
Apr 12 - 12:10 PM

Coach Randy Carlyle expects more out of Mikhail Grabovski, but he was satisfied with his game in Wednesday's shootout loss to the New York Rangers.

"I thought he played fairly well," Carlyle said after he started Grabovski on the fourth line. "He was on the puck. He showed more desire and more effort out there. He was very noticeable. In the third period, I moved him back with [Jay] McClement and [Leo] Komarov, so I was happy with his game." He didn't get a point in the match and played just 11 minutes.
Apr 11 - 3:03 PM

Mikhail Grabovski will start Wednesday's game on the fourth line.

He saw a season-low 10:39 of ice time on Monday and was benched for the final 12 minutes of the third period. Grabovski has eight goals and 15 points in 39 games this season and he's had a great deal of trouble getting out of coach Randy Carlyle's doghouse.
Apr 10 - 6:59 PM

Mikhail Grabovski has goals in two straight games now.

The enigmatic Grabovski has only 13 points in 32 games in this 48-game shortened season. They are hardly numbers befitting his $5.5 million (U.S.) cap hit and he does not deserve a spot on your fantasy team either.

Mikhail Grabovski spent Monday's practice on the third line with Colton Orr and Clarke MacArthur.

Bench boss Randy Carlyle also tapped 10 shooters other than Grabovski in Saturday's shootout loss to Winnipeg, which suggests that the Toronto center may have to work his way out of his coach's doghouse. Grabovski, to his credit, is trying to stay upbeat despite his struggles. He has six goals and 11 points in 29 games this season.
Mar 19 - 8:55 AM

Mikhail Grabovski is struggling again to produce points.

He has no goals and two assists in his past seven games. Grabovski was benched for some of the second period against Winnipeg Tuesday night. He and Nikolai Kulemin have had trouble scoring this campaign. Grabovski has six goals and 11 points in 27 games, while Kulemin has 13 points but he has only two goals.

Mar 13 - 9:13 AM

Mikhail Grabovski will enter Wednesday night's game against Montreal with three goals in his last four games.

Prior to that he hadn't scored in 11 straight contests. The last time the Leafs played the Canadiens, Grabovski was involved in an alleged biting incident with Max Pacioretty. The Toronto forward wasn't disciplined for the play and both teams need the points in an important divisional match-up, so no retribution is expected to be sought after. Still, we will likely see a physical game take place and Grabovski has enjoyed plenty of success against his ex-teammates since moving to Toronto with 18 points in 26 games, which is the most he's scored versus another club.
Feb 26 - 7:39 PM

Toronto center Mikhail Grabovski delivered his fifth goal of the season in the Maple Leafs' 3-2 loss to the Senators in Ottawa Saturday night.

Grabovski gave the Leafs a 1-0 lead at 3:32 of the first period but that was the only lead Toronto enjoyed in the game. The Sens were up 2-1 when Clarke McArthur produced his fourth goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2 at 7:10 of the third period. The Sens' Colin Greening scored the game winner with only 24 seconds left in regulation.
Feb 23 - 10:17 PM

Mikhail Grabovski scored in Toronto's 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.

His fourth goal of the year was his first in 12 games. Grabovski had been mired in a lengthy cold stretch with just one assist over his 11-game goal drought. He has seven points in 17 games this campaign.
