Blair Jones will get back into Calgary's lineup Wednesday night after being called up from the minors on Tuesday.
He was originally assigned to AHL Abbotsford on Feb. 21 after skating in 11 games with the Flames. Coach Bob Hartley wants Jones to be active in the forecheck and be "an up-and-down player." Apr 10 - 5:05 PM

Blair Jones successfully clears waivers.

Jones is still on the Calgary Flames' active roster, but he might be sent down soon. "Maybe it can serve as motivation or a wakeup call or a little extra juice to get you to work that much harder at being a better player," Jones suggested. He was a healthy scratch on Sunday.

Blair Jones has been placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames.

Jones has an assist and six penalty minutes in 11 games this season. Even if another team claims him, he won't have any fantasy value in standard leagues in 2013.

Blair Jones and defenseman T.J. Brodie could make their season debuts on Monday night.

They watched Sunday's game from the press box, but may play against Anaheim. Coach Bob Hartley wouldn't acknowledge personnel changes, but he did say that switching bodies in and out will probably be a common practice during the shortened schedule to keep players fresher.

Blair Jones knows that even though the lockout talks seem to be going well right now, that doesn't necessarily mean that a new CBA is imminent.

"I've had my hopes up a few times, so I'm just waiting to see what the final result will be this time around," Jones said. "It's hard to judge from outside the negotiating room. I hear what everyone says, but I try not to get too high or too low. There's still work to be done. When and if it happens, I'll be ready. For now, though, I'm not going to rush to any conclusions. It's, 'Give me the news when it's ready to go.'" The two sides had a marathon negotiating session on Wednesday. If they can agree to a new CBA in the near future then the season could start in late December or early January.

Blair Jones would be starting his first one-way contract now if it wasn't for the lockout.

Jones has spent years bouncing between the AHL and NHL, but he seemed poised to finally earn a permanent spot with the Calgary Flames. Unfortunately that will have to wait now. "It's a bit frustrating in that regard," said Jones. "Hopefully, the sides can meet and get the wheels in motion. I like to be pretty optimistic. All the guys here want to be playing. We just want it to be fair. If it takes a bit of time, so be it." How much time remains to be seen. The union and league have been meeting regularly, but have largely avoided the core economic issues that divide them.

Blair Jones has agreed to a two-year/1.3 million contract extension with the Calgary Flames.

"Blair Jones is the type of ‘hard to play against’ player we want in our line-up," said Flames GM Jay Feaster. "He is a big body, he is fearless, he drives hard to the net and takes defenders with him, he uses his body effectively in both zones and he is versatile in that he can play on the 3rd or 4th line, kills penalties, blocks shots and can be spotted occasionally on the power play for net-front presence." As Feaster said, he might play on the third or fourth line, but he won't accumulate more than 15-20 points over 82 games.

Blair Jones was back in action against Dallas Saturday afternoon.

He had been sidelined the last six weeks with a broken ankle. Jones took a regular shift on the fourth line, playing 8:27, and was minus one against the Stars. Needless to say, he has no fantasy value.

Calgary Flames forward Blair Jones is expected to miss six weeks with a broken ankle.

Jones suffered the injury when he was hit by a shot from Shane Doan during Thursday's game against the Phoenix Coyotes. He has no fantasy value in standard leagues.

Blair Jones made his first goal as a member of the Calgary Flames count as he scored 1:51 into overtime to propel his team to a 1-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday night.

Jones was acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Jan. 6 and was only in his third game with his new team. But credit him for following up his own shot and popping in his own rebound for his third goal of the year. In his first game back since a suffering a torn hamstring Nov. 29, Mark Giordano had an assist. Lee Stempniak had the other. Among the bottom third in the league in scoring, the Flames should get a nice boost after acquiring Michael Cammalleri from the Montreal Canadiens in a deal for Rene Bourque.

The Calgary Flames have acquired Blair Jones from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Jones has two goals and four points in 22 games this season. He might get more playing time with the Flames, but he still doesn't have any fantasy value in standard leagues. As a small side note, Jones went unclaimed on waivers back in late November.

Blair Jones is hoping to make an impression with the Lightning during his latest stint with the team.

"I want to stay here and help the team win some games," he said. "We have some guys banged up and it's an opportunity for me to do what I can to earn the coaching staff's trust a little bit more each game." Jones has registered two goals and one assist during a modest three-game point streak. He earned a roster spot with Tampa Bay out of training camp and is doing his best to show he belongs at the NHL level despite being waived and demoted to the minors. Still, he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar at this time.

Blair Jones has been called up by Tampa Bay.

The Lightning were in need of reinforcements after Martin St. Louis was hurt in the morning skate and Nate Thompson was ruled out with an upper-body injury.

Blair Jones has been sent to AHL Norfolk.

That's hardly a surprise, seeing as Jones cleared waivers on Thursday. He has an assist and a minus-three rating in 10 games with Tampa Bay this season.

Blair Jones has cleared waivers and will probably be on his way to the minors.

The Lightning recalled Dana Tyrell on Wednesday and he should take Jones' spot on the roster.
