Tom Gilbert will play in his 600th career NHL game on Friday night against Buffalo.
Originally the 129th overall pick in 2002 by Colorado, Gilbert was traded to Edmonton for Tommy Salo in 2005 before lacing up for the Avalanche. He's since skated for the Oilers, Wild, Panthers, and now he's in his second season with the Canadiens. He may never be a traditional fantasy stud from the blue line, but he's averaged two blocks per game since joining Montreal. Oct 23 - 6:50 PM

Tom Gilbert scored a goal in Montreal's 5-1, game five loss to Ottawa on Friday night.

The Canadiens once had a commanding three games to nothing lead in this series, but they have been unable to figure out Craig Anderson. Gilbert's goal at the 1:44 mark of the third period was Montreal's first goal since overtime in game three. The Canadiens fired 46 shots on goal in game five, but they didn't generate nearly enough scoring chances. Greg Pateryn and Lars Eller picked up the assists on Gilbert's goal. Montreal leads the series 3-2 with game six going Sunday night in Ottawa.

Tom Gilbert will likely not play against Toronto Saturday night.

He still seems to be dealing with some sort of upper-body injury and with the playoffs coming up there is no reason for Gilbert to suit up in this contest. Keep him on your bench.
