Tom Gilbert scored a goal in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
This was Gilbert's first goal of the year and his first point since returning from a lower-body injury three games ago. The 33-year-old has two points, a plus-5 rating and 12 penalty minutes in 39 games this season. Gilbert, who's a pending UFA, could be sneaky good pick up for a contending team. Feb 7 - 10:07 AM

Date:

Tom Gilbert will get back into the lineup on Tuesday at Philadelphia.

He has missed 14 games because of a lower-body injury, but he may have been healthy enough to play in the last two contests. "We believe Tom is ready to play," coach Michel Therrien said. "Been a long injury. He's more than ready. He's working hard. We hope that his experience is going to help our defensive squad."
Feb 2 - 3:35 PM

Tom Gilbert and Greg Pateryn will be scratched for Tuesday's rematch with Columbus.

Through 36 games this season Gilbert has produced just one point with 10 PIMs, 23 hits, and 61 blocks. Just not a lot of fantasy value there.
Jan 26 - 7:09 PM

Tom Gilbert isn't listed on Montreal's injured reserve list anymore, but his status for Monday night isn't clear.

He skated with Greg Pateryn alongside Andrei Markov during the morning skate because P.K. Subban was out with an illness. If Subban is able to play then Pateryn and Gilbert could be scratched.
Jan 25 - 5:39 PM

Tom Gilbert (lower body) took part in his first practice on Friday since getting hurt.

Gilbert hasn't played since Dec. 22, but he's regarded as day-to-day at this point. He has an assist in 36 contests in 2015-16.
Jan 22 - 12:44 PM

Tom Gilbert (lower body) might be ready to resume practicing with his teammates next week.

He skated before practice on Wednesday and appears to be going in the right direction. Gilbert hasn't played since Dec. 22 because of a lower-body injury.
Jan 14 - 8:05 AM

Tom Gilbert (lower body) will be re-evaluated in early January.

He will not play during Montreal's four-game road trip, which concludes on Tuesday at Philadelphia. Gilbert suffered a lower-body injury last Tuesday and has been moved to injured reserve.

The Canadiens have placed defenseman Tom Gilbert on injured reserve.

He obviously didn't make much progress in his recovery from a lower-body injury he sustained on Tuesday over the Christmas break. If you have Gilbert on your fantasy squad reserve him immediately.

Tom Gilbert left Tuesday's match with Minnesota due to a lower body injury after playing just 3:41.

Through 35 games thus far the veteran defender has one point, 10 PIMs, 23 hits, and 61 blocks. Unfortunately he no longer boasts much fantasy value. We'll keep you posted on the status of his injury.

Tom Gilbert will play in his 600th career NHL game on Friday night against Buffalo.

Originally the 129th overall pick in 2002 by Colorado, Gilbert was traded to Edmonton for Tommy Salo in 2005 before lacing up for the Avalanche. He's since skated for the Oilers, Wild, Panthers, and now he's in his second season with the Canadiens. He may never be a traditional fantasy stud from the blue line, but he's averaged two blocks per game since joining Montreal.

Tom Gilbert found the back of the net in Montreal's 6-2 loss to Tampa Bay Sunday night.

Gilbert now has two goals and three points in his last four contests. His strong play hasn't been enough to bail out the Canadiens lately as they're down 2-0 in their second round series against Tampa Bay.

Tom Gilbert scored a goal in Montreal's 5-1, game five loss to Ottawa on Friday night.

The Canadiens once had a commanding three games to nothing lead in this series, but they have been unable to figure out Craig Anderson. Gilbert's goal at the 1:44 mark of the third period was Montreal's first goal since overtime in game three. The Canadiens fired 46 shots on goal in game five, but they didn't generate nearly enough scoring chances. Greg Pateryn and Lars Eller picked up the assists on Gilbert's goal. Montreal leads the series 3-2 with game six going Sunday night in Ottawa.
