David Moss helped the Phoenix Coyotes beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 on Wednesday.
Moss had a goal and an assist, giving him 20 points in 38 games this season. His peripherals don't really make him quite good enough to be a significant factor fantasy-wise, but he's probably appreciated on an offensively deficient team like the Coyotes. Apr 11 - 2:11 AM

Last season, only Vancouver and Nashville had more road wins than the Coyotes (20) but just past the halfway point of this season, Phoenix has the worst road record in the Pacific Division.

"I think it just comes down to working hard at winning more battles and doing more of the little things right," right winger David Moss said. "If we do that on the road, you give yourself a chance to win right now. We’re not doing those things consistently enough. The end result. . .we’re taking too many penalties. . ."

The Phoenix Coyotes have signed forward David Moss to a two-year contract.

No financial terms have been announced. Moss suffered an injury-plagued season in 2011-12 as he missed most of the season with a broken ankle and had only two goals and nine points in 32 games. Look for Moss to revert closer to the 17 goal, 30 point season of 2010-11 for the Coyotes in the upcoming season.

Moss has been limited to just 19 games this season because of a broken ankle. If he can stay healthy next season, he should get 30-40 points, but he hasn't managed to play in 65 or more games in any of his last three campaigns.

David Moss (ankle) was activated from the IL on Thursday.

Moss had been out of action since November 7 with the broken ankle. "Having him back is nice. He’s a big body. His awareness on the ice is really good. He’s a responsible player," coach Brent Sutter said. "He’s someone that’s gonna work. It’s just having that guy that can play their position for you … he can kill penalties, and he can play the powerplay. He’s got a little bit of that complete package to him." Moss had five shots on goal in the game and saw the second least time on the Flames during even strength situations at 8:07 minutes but saw 2:04 on the power play and 2:23 shorthanded so his TOI was respectable. Look for his ice time to improve as he gets in game shape.

Look for David Moss (ankle) to return to action on Thursday.

Moss has been out of action since breaking his ankle on November 12. His injury has hurt the Flames as they have been lacking a goal scorer in their lineup. His return will put him on a line with Olli Jokinen and Curtis Glencross with Michael Cammalleri moving up to play with Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay. The move should allow the Flames to finally have two lines capable of scoring. Moss has only one goal and five points this season in 15 games and it could take a few games for him to get his legs and scoring touch back.

David Moss (ankle) is skating and the Calgary Flames expect him to return to action in early March.

Moss started skating on Monday and it will take him a little time to get back in game shape as he heas not played since November 12. Don't be surprised if the Flames send him to the minors on a conditioning stint but he will return to the Flames as a bottom six player within two weeks of being sent down. He will have little fantasy value this season but will be a valued member of the Flames stretch drive into the playoffs.
