Mark Mancari could get playing time with the Buffalo Sabres when a deal is struck to end the lockout.
A spot should be available now that Corey Tropp is lost for the rest of the season due a knee injury he sustained in the minors in which he damaged his ACL and MCL. Mancari, who is currently playing for AHL Rochester, feels he can play at the NHL level. He has proven to be a prolific scoring in the minors over the past few seasons, but has just three goals and 10 assists in 42 career NHL appearances. For now, he will take on a leadership role with the Americans because of the work stoppage. Tue, Oct 16, 2012 10:42:00 AM

The Buffalo Sabres have agreed to a one-year deal with right wing Mark Mancari.

The former Buffalo prospect left the organization last year to sign with the Vancouver Canucks but returns after recording 30 goals and 58 points with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL last season. He appeared in six games with the Canucks. Mancari will provide depth on the right side and will likely skate on the first line with the Rochester Amerks of the Sabres' organization. Mancari has scored 119 goals in the last four AHL seasons, an average of just less than 30 per year. He has three career NHL goals with 10 assists for 13 points in 42 games.

Mark Mancari has been recalled from the minors on an emergency basis.

He may see action on the fourth line instead of defenseman-by-trade Aaron Rome. The Canucks have used blueliners Rome and Andrew Alberts at forward during their road trip due to injuries, but that experiment appears to have run its course. Mancari has recorded 10 goals and 21 points in 24 games with AHL Chicago this season.

The Vancouver Canucks have demoted Mark Mancari to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL.

Mancari had a goal and eight points in 20 games with the Sabres last season. He obviously has limited fantasy value in Vancouver this year.

The Sabres have sent Mark Mancari to Portland of the AHL.

Mancari was just beginning to show what he can do in the NHL and had played very well of late, but the return of Jochen Hecht necessitated a move. We probably haven't seen the last of Mancari in the NHL this year.

Mark Mancari has developed some on-ice chemistry with Paul Gaustad and Nathan Gerbe.

Mancari has a goal and five points in his last five games. Jochen Hecht could return from an upper body injury as early as Saturday, but it looks like Mancari's spot in the lineup is secure for the time being. "You can argue recently that maybe they've been our best line," coach Lindy Ruff said. "We're not going to mess with that obviously." Mancari was originally promoted as an emergency recall, but Ruff has suggested that his status might be changed to a regular call up.

Mark Mancari scored his first goal of the season in Saturday`s win over Atlanta.

Playing on a line with Nathan Gerbe and Paul Gaustad, Mancari scored a goal and added two assists in the 8-2 win over the Thrashers. While he had been dominating the AHL with 64 points through 56 games, Mancari had yet to find his groove in the NHL with just two points in nine contests coming into the game. Mancari makes for a sneaky pick in leagues next season, but his performance this season will be uneven.

The Sabres have called up forward Mark Mancari for Portland of the AHL.

Mancari's presence is required due to the injuries to Jochen Hecht and Mike Grier. He has a lot of offensive potential, but he's unlikely to play a major role with the Sabres at this moment so he's not worth a roster spot.
