The Buffalo Sabres will not buy out the final three seasons of Matt Moulson's five-year, $25 million contract.
"I had a long talk with him," Murray said. "He knows that he has to work hard this offseason. He’s very disappointed in himself, his own season. It was a tough season for him." Moulson was limited to eight goals and 21 points in 81 contests in 2015-16. That's a long way from his height with the New York Islanders when he reached the 30-goal mark for three consecutive campaigns from 2009-10 through 2011-12. Apr 12 - 12:39 PM

Matt Moulson ended his miserable season with a goal against his former club, the New York Islanders.

Moulson posted just eight goals and 21 points in 81 games for Buffalo in 2015-16. While there's certainly more in the tank than that for him, we'd wait until he proves it first next season.

Matt Moulson and Buffalo GM Tim Murray disagree as to why Moulson is having a terrible season.

Moulson believes that he is suffering through a cirsis of confidence. However, Murray believes the winger's problems stem from a lack of work ethic particularly around conditioning. "I see a player that maybe has neglected some things in the last couple years as far as how workouts are changing, how we as an organization are changing with our young players and even our players on the team," Murray said. Murray did say that Moulson's approach has improved over the last few weeks. All that said, Moulson has been a disaster this season and should not be on anyone's fantasy roster.
Mar 5 - 9:10 AM

Matt Moulson scored a goal in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators.

Moulson put an end to his 44-game goalless drought with his goal at the 6:01 mark of the first period. Jack Eichel and Zemgus Girgensons picked up the assists on Buffalo's only goal of the game. Unfortunately for the Sabres, Moulson couldn't convert on his shootout attempt. The 32-year-old has five goals and 14 points in 57 games this season. It's been a disappointing year for the veteran forward.
Feb 16 - 11:13 PM

Matt Moulson's goaless games' streak has now hit 43.

It is truly unbelievable how far Moulson has fallen in such a short period. He was once a reliable 30-goal scorer. Now he can't buy a goal. His 5-year, $25 million contract is looking like one of the worst deals from a team perspective in the NHL right now.
Feb 13 - 9:27 AM

Matt Moulson hasn't scored a goal in 40 consecutive games.

Moulson just can't buy one right now. The 32-year-old has mainly been playing on the fourth line of late, but he was given a chance on the second line with Jack Eichel in Saturday's game against Boston, but still didn't find the back of the net. "The mere conversation of saying 40 games without one for Matt seems impossible," coach Dan Bylsma said. "It's time for Matt to step up and do something out of the box." Those who took a chance on him in standard fantasy leagues should cut ties with him if they haven't already.
Feb 7 - 10:46 AM

Matt Moulson will play on a line with rookie center Jack Eichel.

This is Buffalo's latest attempt at sparking Moulson. The 32-year-old has no points in his last 18 contests and he hasn't scored a goal in 35 games. This might be the spark/vote of confidence that Moulson needs to start producing. The two are very familiar with each other off the ice. Eichel is living with Moulson and his family this season.

Jan 25 - 7:22 PM

Matt Moulson's goal drought has reached an unbelievable 35 games.

Moulson has dressed for 35 of the Sabres' last 36 games but has not figured out a way to score a goal, which is astonishing given that he is a three-time, 30-goal scorer. Buffalo coach Dan Bylsma, who has given Mouslon some time on the top line as recently as Friday night, has not been impressed with his veteran forward. "I don’t like where his game’s been at," said Bylsma."But we’re in a situation tonight where we’re going to give him a chance to get his game back to where it can be – where it needs to be for us." If you have not dropped Moulson by now, what are you waiting for?
Jan 23 - 9:02 AM

Matt Moulson will get back into the lineup on Thursday against the Islanders.

He was a healthy scratch in Wednesday's loss to Washington, but will get to play because Tyler Ennis is out with an upper-body injury.

Matt Moulson will be scratched against the Washington Capitals Wednesday night.

Moulson will be a healthy scratch, which was announced late before game time. Marcus Foligno will draw back in instead. Adjust your rosters accordingly.

In a late maneuver by Buffalo, Matt Moulson will tag in for Marcus Foligno on Saturday against Boston.

Moulson however has not scored in 22 games and has but 12 points on the season. We'd let the veteran scorer sit on the wire until he gets hot.

Matt Moulson looks like he's in the lineup after all.

He is taking part in the pregame warmup and Marcus Foligno, who is ready to return from an upper-body injury, is not on the ice.
Sat, Dec 26, 2015 06:39:00 PM

Matt Moulson appears to be a healthy scratch for the Sabres on Saturday night.

He didn't have a line during the morning skate and has been slumping horribly. Moulson has no goals in 22 games and one assist in his last nine outings.
Sat, Dec 26, 2015 11:44:00 AM

Matt Moulson is no longer considered a top six forward in Buffalo.

He will skate on the Sabres' third line alongside David Legwand and Nicolas Deslauriers. It seems the snakebitten Moulson has lost his job on Ryan O'Reilly's line to Jamie McGinn. Adjust your lineup accordingly.
Sat, Dec 19, 2015 09:53:00 AM

Matt Moulson hasn't found the back of the net in 18 games.

He scored his last goal on Nov. 1 against Pittsburgh. The Sabres tried to get him going by putting him on a line with Jack Eichel and Evander Kane on Saturday night, but that didn't work. He had two shots in just over 16 minutes of ice time in the Sabres' 2-1 OT win over Los Angeles.
