Matt Moulson could be a sleeper bounce back candidate in 2015-16.
He is projected to play alongside a generational talent in Jack Eichel this season and the two of them are already building some chemistry. Moulson has been playing with Eichel during training camp and he was set up nicely by the talented rookie for a goal in Monday's exhibition win versus Minnesota. "I'll take 20 of those off the feed from Jack," Moulson said. "He's the type of player if you get open, he's getting you the puck. His head for the game is tremendous." Eichel is living in the Moulson household this year and the duo has the potential to make some noise on the ice. Moulson has shown he can produce when placed alongside skilled players and Eichel could get him back around the 30-goal range. Sep 22 - 10:04 AM

Matt Moulson scored just 13 goals in 77 games this past season.

"The biggest thing is you want to produce and help the team win. When they aren't going in and you aren't getting wins, it's hard on people," Moulson said. "A lot of us didn't have years we wanted to have, and we’re going to make sure that doesn't happen again." Ex-coach Ted Nolan wasn't able to surround Moulson with the kind of experience and talent that he played with on the Islanders and Wild, but Moulson isn't using that as an excuse. "I think at the start of the season I got away from the type of player I am a bit and what made me successful," he said. "I don't know what it was really that drove me away from that, but I'm definitely going to concentrate on getting back to that."
Apr 15 - 10:42 AM

Matt Moulson will return from an illness on Monday after missing the past two games.

Apr 6 - 6:28 PM

The Buffalo Sabres won't have Matt Moulson in the lineup against his former team in the New York Islanders on Saturday.

He's dealing with the flu. Moulson has been playing well lately, too, with 11 points in his last 14 games.
Apr 4 - 2:59 PM

Matt Moulson (illness) is not in the lineup for the Sabres for Friday night's tilt with Chicago.

This was anticipated earlier the day and has now been confirmed. Adjust those lineups to get him out.
Apr 3 - 6:48 PM

Matt Moulson might not play on Friday due to an illness.

Moulson has 13 goals and 40 points in 74 contests in 2014-15. Buffalo has called up Tim Schaller as an insurance policy.
Apr 3 - 3:13 PM

Matt Moulson potted a power-play goal in Buffalo's 4-3 win against Toronto.

He collected 10 points in 13 games during the month of March, so it appears as though Moulson will end the year on a high note. He has 13 goals and 40 points in 74 contests.
Apr 2 - 8:51 AM

Matt Moulson recorded a power play assist and a goal during Monday's 4-3 loss to the Stars.

The way Moulson scored his points may never be duplicated. Moulson's power play assist came after he accidentally used teammate Brian Gionta as a wall to bank a shot off of. Tyler Ennis would later see his shot off the cross-bar fall straight down and sit on the goal line for Moulson to tap it. Moulson now has 12 goals and 37 points, with 12 points coming with the man advantage this season.
Mar 24 - 1:58 AM

Matt Moulson scored a goal in Friday's 3-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Moulson has had a disappointing season in 2014-15. Moulson had scored at least 23 goals in four of his last five seasons (he had 15 during the lockout year) but he has only managed to score 11 times this season. The 31-year-old had just one goal in his last 11 contests coming into Friday's game. Moulson now has 35 points in 68 games. Tyler Ennis and Brian Gionta picked up the assists on the power play goal. The Sabres have just one win in their last nine contests and they are well on their way to landing top draft prospects Conor McDavid or Jack Eichel.
Mar 20 - 9:39 PM

Matt Moulson tallied a goal and added two assists in Wednesday's 4-3 shootout loss to Toronto.

The goal was just his 10th of the season and his third in his past 17 games. The silver lining is that Moulson has enjoyed a productive stretch during that time with 13 points.
Mar 12 - 8:50 AM

Matt Moulson earned two assists in Thursday's 6-3 win over Vancouver.

Feb 27 - 9:17 AM

Matt Moulson scored Buffalo's only goal in their 3-1 loss to the Rangers on Friday.

Moulson opened the scoring just 14 seconds into the game, but the Rangers responded with three unanswered goals of their own. Moulson is having an extremely disappointing season offensively. This was his second goal in his last 25 games and just his ninth goal overall. Torrey Mitchell and Brian Gionta picked up the assists on Moulson's goal. The 31-year-old is on pace to score just 36 points this season.
Feb 20 - 10:22 PM

Look for Matt Moulson to get some looks at the point on the Sabres' powerplay.

Buffalo coach Ted Nolan hasn't been impressed with the point play of some of his defensemen as of late. Of using Moulson on the point, Nolan had this to say: "We're going to definitely look at it. We need an intelligent guy back there making good plays, and breaking out is probably one of the most important parts of our power play. … We haven't been doing great first passes lately." We're not sure if this will be a boost to the disappointing Moulson, but sometimes a change can do wonders for a player. Watch this situation.
Feb 7 - 9:30 AM

Matt Moulson broke a 16-game goalless drought by scoring for the Sabres in a 3-2 win over Montreal Tuesday night.

When a player with a reputation for goal-scoring goes six weeks without finding the back of the net, he officially has no fantasy value. Drew Stafford and Brian Gionta also scored for the Sabres in the win.
Feb 4 - 1:19 AM

Matt Moulson has not scored a goal in his last eight games.

Linemates Zemgus Girgensons and Tyler Ennis have been mired in slumps of their own, with Girgensons going scoreless in his past five and Ennis accounting for only one goal in his last eight outings. Coach Ted Nolan said the combination could "probably maybe" be broken up on Friday against Tampa Bay.
