Matt Moulson has scored six of his seven goals on the power play this season.
That power-play total places him second in the league behind only Montreal's Shea Weber, who has seven. Buffalo's top unit has consisted of Rasmus Ristolainen, Taylor Fedun, Kyle Okposo, Sam Reinhart and Moulson. He scored just eight goals all of last season, but he has had a much better start to the 2016-17 campaign with nine points in 19 contests. Nov 23 - 9:37 AM

Matt Moulson scored the second of two Buffalo goals at the 9:43 mark of the third as the Sabres lost to the New Jersey Devils 4-2 Saturday night.

Moulson also scored the lone goal against the Devils Friday night to give him six markers in 15 games this season.
Nov 13 - 12:34 AM

Matt Moulson scored in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Moulson's opened the scoring with a power play goal at the 10:34 mark of the first period. After scoring just eight goals all of last season, Moulson has produced five goals in 14 games in 2016-17. All five of his goals have been scored on the power play. Kyle Okposo and Ryan O'Reilly assisted on Buffalo's only goal.
Nov 11 - 10:45 PM

Matt Moulson hasn't recorded a goal in seven straight games.

He started the year with four goals in his first five matches, but offense has been hard to come by for the Sabres lately. Moulson has gone five straight games without picking up a point.
Nov 9 - 7:38 AM

Matt Moulson is in the midst of a turnaround season.

The veteran winger continues to thrive on the Sabres' power play. Mouslon has four goals, two with the man advantage and his only assist came Saturday night on a Buffalo power play. With five points in seven contests, Moulson is a much-improved player over his eight-goal, 21-point performance of 2015-16.
Oct 30 - 9:47 AM

Matt Moulson scored a pair of goals in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Thanks to Tyler Ennis and Matt Moulson, the Sabres jumped out to a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. Unfortunately for Buffalo, they gave up three unanswered goals in the third period and eventually lost in the shootout. After scoring just eight goals in 2015-16, Moulson already has four this season. All of his markers have come on the man-advantage.
Oct 25 - 11:19 PM

Matt Moulson skated on the top line during Sunday's practice.

Moulson's linemates were Ryan O’Reilly and Kyle Okposo. It's quite the step up from when training camp started and Moulson was working on the fourth unit. He has two goals in four games this season despite averaging just 12:42 minutes per game. We'd caution against getting to excited as this might prove to be a short-term promotion, but it will be interesting to see how he does on Tuesday.
Oct 24 - 9:55 AM

Matt Moulson has been playing some good hockey for the Buffalo Sabres.

Molson had a disappointing season last season, as he scored just eight goals in 81 games, but this year's been different. He's already scored two goals and his work rate is noticeably better too. "It comes from the work, having an extra spurt here and there to get to pucks," he said. "It's how I want to play, getting a lot of chances. If you do that, you're likely to be more successful."
Oct 22 - 10:56 AM

Matt Moulson potted his second goal of the year in Sunday's 6-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers.

He had three goals in 11 games last October, but scored just eight times in 81 contests. Moulson is looking to be much better in 2016-17 and he is off to a good start with a goal in each of his first two matches.
Oct 17 - 9:58 AM

Matt Moulson found the back of the net in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.

Moulson got the Sabres on the board with a power play goal 35 seconds into the third period. Even though his team lost, it's nice to see Moulson score so early in the season. The 32-year-old is coming off a disappointing 2015-16 season that saw him score eight goals and 21 points in 81 games. He should be able to top those numbers this year, but he won't have any fantasy value in standard leagues.
Oct 13 - 10:38 PM

Matt Moulson scored the shootout winner in Buffalo's 1-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Moulson will look to rebound after a terrible 2015-16 season that saw him score just eight goals and 21 points in 81 games. Don't count on Moulson turning his career around. His days as a relevant fantasy player are pretty much over. He's combined to score just 21 goals over the last two years.
Sep 29 - 10:22 PM

If Matt Moulson is to rebound from his disastrous 2015-16 season and regain his scoring acumen, he's going to have to work his way up from the Sabres' fourth line.

That is where Moulson has started during Buffalo's scrimmages to date. He has ranked behind Kyle Okposo, Sam Reinhart and Brian Gionta on the right side and Evander Kane, Tyler Ennis and Marcus Foligno on the left. "I’ve spoken to Dan [Bylsma]," Moulson said. "He’s pretty blunt in what he says. He doesn’t mix words, so I know I have to earn everything, and that’s what I’m here to do". Although we expect a slight rebound from Moulson this season, don't expect any miracles.
Sep 25 - 8:32 AM

Matt Moulson is using his disappointing 2015-16 campaign as motivation.

"I definitely have a chip on my shoulder coming in to prove a lot of people wrong who maybe lost a little belief," Moulson said. He was limited to eight goals and 21 points in 81 contests last season. That's a far cry from his three-straight 30-goal seasons from 2009-10 through 2011-12. We don't expect him to return to his old highs, but a rebound to 40 points wouldn't be shocking.
Sep 23 - 5:30 PM

The Buffalo Sabres will not buy out the final three seasons of Matt Moulson's five-year, $25 million contract.

"I had a long talk with him," Murray said. "He knows that he has to work hard this offseason. He’s very disappointed in himself, his own season. It was a tough season for him." Moulson was limited to eight goals and 21 points in 81 contests in 2015-16. That's a long way from his height with the New York Islanders when he reached the 30-goal mark for three consecutive campaigns from 2009-10 through 2011-12.
Apr 12 - 12:39 PM

Matt Moulson ended his miserable season with a goal against his former club, the New York Islanders.

Moulson posted just eight goals and 21 points in 81 games for Buffalo in 2015-16. While there's certainly more in the tank than that for him, we'd wait until he proves it first next season.
