Joey Crabb has been summoned from the minors by Washington.

The Hershey Bears were knocked out of the AHL playoffs in the first round, so Crabb will rejoin the Capitals. Washington also lost Martin Erat to an injury in Game 4. Crabb had two goals in 26 games with the Capitals during the regular season before being sent down to the minors.

Consequently, the Washington Capitals have sent Crabb down to AHL Hershey. Crabb was waived so that the Capitals could make room on their roster for Mike Green, who was on the injured reserve list until Thursday. "With Ovi moving over to the right we have more right wingers than left and [Crabb was the] odd man out," Capitals coach Adam Oates explained.

He was placed on the club's nonroster list to make room for Mike Green's return from a groin injury Thursday night. The Capitals said they would place Crabb on waivers Friday afternoon and they have. If he clears then he will head down to the AHL.

Joey Crabb is ready to get started with the Washington Capitals on the first one-way NHL deal of his professional career.

He can chip in offensively and kill penalties, which should make him a serviceable bottom-six player. "I'll be an energy guy," Crabb said. "I don't think [coach Adam Oates] is real big on checking lines. I think if you look up and down our lineup, it's not like anybody can't do that, play against top lines. I'll just bring what I've always done. I'll bring energy and a good two-way game." He tallied 17 goals and 38 points in 35 games with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL during the lockout.

Joey Crabb leads the Alaska Aces in scoring with 22 points in 20 games this season.

He is 13th overall in the ECHL scoring race. Crabb plays on the team with fellow locked-out NHLers Scott Gomez, Brandon Dubinsky and Nate Thompson. Alaska has finished with the league's top record for the past two seasons and after a slow start this year they have been on a roll of late while sporting an 11-1-0 record in their past 12 contests.

Joey Crabb has agreed to terms with the ECHL Alaska Aces.

Crabb will potentially be joined by Scott Gomez and Nate Thompson on the team. All three are natives of Alaska and should provide the ECHL club with a huge boost for the duration of the lockout.

The Capitals signed Joey Crabb to a one-year deal worth $950,000.

The 29-year-old winger spent 67 games with the Leafs last season, tallying 11 goals, 26 points and 33 penalty minutes. He's a guy that brings a little of everything to the table and should be a solid addition to the Caps' bottom-six.

The Maple Leafs called up Joey Crabb from Toronto of the AHL.

The 28-year-old forward was waived by the Leafs on Oct. 3 and reported to the Marlies where he captured AHL Player of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 23. In nine games with the AHL club, he is 7-8-15. Crabb was a spare part last season, playing 48 with the parent Leafs and registering 3-12-15.

Crabb had three goals and five points in two AHL games last week. He has six goals and 12 points in six contests this season, so he should be one of the first players Toronto calls up if they need another forward. That being said, he isn't expected to have any fantasy value this season.

Joey Crabb has been placed on waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Crabb is scheduled earn $105,000 in the AHL, which is where he'll be sent if he successfully clears waivers. He had three goals and 15 points in 48 games with the Leafs last season.
